Bailey's pov
"What the hell!?"
My mind didn't really focus on who said those words. I was more concentrated on the dirt and my painfully bleeding hand. I winced at the pain.
I can't help but feel my heart race as fast as my mind. Who would do something like this?
It was only when I felt warm fingers wrap around my wrist and tug me lightly, I looked up and my eyes fell into the worried ones of Kaleb.
He looked down at my hand and cussed when he spotted the blood. Without warning, he lifted me in his arms, pulling me closer to his body as though he was trying to shield me. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
" Who the hell would do something so cruel!" Mirabella gasp, staring at the box wide eyed.
"I'm going to bring her to the nurse," Kaleb said, his voice a breathy sound of panic and anger. "Don't touch anything in the meantime. There needs to be an investigation, especially since the asshole targeted Bailey to hurt her."
The others nod while I am still....dumbfounded about what had just happened. The pain on my hand was stinging yet it was becoming numb with feeling as reality started to kick in.
As Kaleb rushed me to the nurse's office with everyone gaping at us, I couldn't help but shrink in his arms, utterly mortified and terrified.
"I got you baby. It's okay." Kaleb kissed the top of my head and shoulder opened the door. The office was empty but he set me down on the small bed.
His brows are pinched, his teeth gritting. "Where is that damn nurse?" He cursed, looking around the room.
"She doesn't get here yet," I said faintly, not even sure if he heard me or not. My voice was so frail.
However he proved that he heard me when his eyes whip down to me, his brows furrowing more into a frown of displeasure and irritant. "Why does she always show up late?" He hissed under his breath and started moving around the room in search of whatever.
My brows joined as I peered at him making a mess in the office. "What are you doing?"
"I'm going to disinfect the wound and try to keep it from bleeding until she gets here. Seeing you hurt is hurting me flower," he rubbed a hand down his face. "It feels like I can't breathe."
He cursed under his breath, rummaging through a draw. "Why is this woman not organized!"
I worriedly looked at him, concerned that he seem to be not fully here. "Kaleb?" I said softly, trying to get a hold of his attention.
But Kaleb seem to be set on finding the stuff he may need to disinfect my wound and had not heard me.
"Kaleb?"
Still no answer. I bit my bottom lip, my heart squeezing with more worry.
"Sam?" I said a little louder and this seem to do the trick. He froze, gripping a small bottle and a cotton ball.
He turned to me, his eyes lost. Wordlessly he makes his way back to me, his eyes never leaving mine. His silence was concerning as he opened the bottle and started working on my cut gently.
However after a few minutes of cleaning around the wound, Kaleb brought my hand to his mouth and kissed it softly.
My heart thuds.
Our eyes stare into each other's deeply and with a breathy sigh, he utters. "I'm sorry."
I'm confused. What is he sorry for? He wasn't the one who hurt me.
Seeing my confused state, Kaleb decided to go on. "I'm the cause of this. I know it. Seeing you hurt because of me is tearing my fucking heart apart. I've never been in so much pain before."
My eyes widen and I quickly shook my head. "No!"
"It's not your fault. Things like this happen because someone is jealous that you're mine." I whispered, gripping his hand and squeezing it.
He let out a breath, his eyes filling with emotions as they began to tear up. His voice cracks. "I'm sorry I'm so selfish to let you go and find someone better. I know if we were not together these stuff wouldn't be happening. But I can't let you go flower. I'm too fucking selfish when it comes to you."
My vision blurs and my heart roars in my head. This isn't where I wanted our conversation to go.
"Don't think that way Kaleb!" I frowned, a bit upset. "You promised to hold me forever. Did you forget? This is nothing." I lift my hand. "They'll find whoever did this. If I know my grandma she'll be on it despite not being a cop anymore."
A tear slipped and trailed down his cheek. " I don't want to see you get hurt because of me again Bailey. Fuck if I can find out who sent this to you myself-
"Shh," I whispered pulling him closer and hugged him. His head nestled in the crook of my neck where he planted a kiss on my skin gently.
"Today was supposed to be perfect for you. I wanted you to enjoy it. And whoever is so miserable in their life, ruined it."
I rubbed my good hand down his back as he hugged me as though at any moment I would disappear. "It was just a hiccup, I really enjoyed your surprise," I whispered honestly.
He kissed my neck again, letting out a shaky sigh. "I'll not rest until I find out who. I hope they question Stefan. He was the one who brought it in."
My brows furrowed. He was right but I didn't think Stefan would intentionally hurt me.
He must have not known.
As we cling to each other the door opens and it's Mirabella, Kristina, and the others. Mira rolls her eyes. "I could have sworn it was Bailey who got hurt and not my brother. Yet, why is he the one being comforted?"
Kaleb pulls away to shoot her a glare before going back to hug me, this time more firmly.
"Where is the nurse?" Ryan questioned.
I shrug. "She's never early."
Kristina frowned. "Did you clean the wound at least?"
"I did. Made sure to disinfect it while we wait for that old fart to get here." Kaleb mumbled on my throat.
"And who are you referring to as an old fart?" The nurse questioned as she entered the office, setting her bag down on her desk grumpily.
"What trouble have you got yourself into again Kaleb?"
Kaleb peeled away from me reluctantly and turn to her. "Not me this time. My girlfriend got hurt. Now will you hurry up to take care of her? We've been waiting here for long."
She did not seem to like his tone as her lips pinched. "I will look at her but I want all of you to get out and wait outside of the room."
"Now." She said in a harsh voice that had Mira and the others scatter out of the room, however, Kaleb stayed back, his eyes hard with determination.
"I'm staying by my girlfriend's side. If you have a problem with that then we will take it up with the principal. I'm not leaving."
