Bailey's pov
True to his words, Kaleb stayed with me. After we were done he carried me back to the classroom despite my legs working completely fine.
There were a few cops there when we arrived and only had Kaleb, me, Kristina, and the others to ask us questions.
This had clearly been a threat so I was not surprised the teachers called the authorities.
After I was done answering their questions they made sure to tell me that I should contact them if anything like this happens again.
They also told Kaleb to not take matters into his own hands and promised me that they would find out who had sent this 'special' gift to me.
The class resumed after the officers left and the teacher made sure to warn the students when the class began. However I knew in the back of my mind that this could have been anyone and I may not ever find out who.
- P.E -
The sun was blazing down on us and I wanted nothing more than to fake being sick so I could go relax in the shade of the classroom.
"I'm dead," Kristina whined, falling onto the grass and throwing her water bottle beside her. The bottle was almost done and we had yet to start seeing as the P.E. teacher was not here yet.
"You're a cheerleader," Mira pointed out with a low snort. "You're built for this kind of heat."
Kristina sent her a harsh glare. "Fuck this heat."
Mira giggled and looked at me, more specifically my bandaged hand. "How's your hand?"
I lifted it, cringing. "Painkiller is working but it still stings a bit. The glass managed to stab really deep."
Both she and Kristina frowned. " I can't wait for them to find out who. We will personally pay them a visit." Mira nod.
"Agreed," Kristina says. "They deserve more than glass cutting their hands though."
"Oh don't worry, I'll know exactly what to do." Mira chirped, reaching for Kristina's bottle.
"It could be anyone," I said softly and they returned they gaze to me. " Kaleb had a lot of admires."
Mira's frown deepened. " It's crazy how far these girls will go. My brother is no innocent but he never meant for this to happen. I bet he's eating himself up right now." She looked over at the open field where the boys were playing football.
Kaleb is among them, dribbling the ball skillfully.
"I don't want him to blame himself." I admitted. "I know it hurts him too, seeing me hurt."
Mira nodded and then sighed. "Can't believe I'm saying this but you really do bring out the best in my brother Bails. Hopefully this won't tear you two apart."
I smiled, my heart warming. That's good that she's warming up to the idea of Kaleb and me. "Don't worry, I'll make sure to end up as your sister in law." I joked, making her twitch her nose.
"Two irritating idiots as my siblings? Just kill me now." She whined. I reach out to push her playfully and all three of us laugh.
After a few moments Kristina moaned. "Why did coach even send us on the field if he knew he'd be a no show!?"
" Because he's an asshole," I grumble, leaning back on my elbows and closing my eyes to stop the irritants of the blazing sun on my vision.
But suddenly there's a shadow blocking the sun and I peeled my eyes open to connect them with Kaleb's. He grinned, crouching. He's sweating from playing football but he looks even more hot this way.
"Here," he gives me his water bottle. "Noticed you didn't bring your water bottle."
I smiled sheepishly. "I forgot it," I admitted while reaching for the bottle. I opened the cap and took a sip of the slightly cold water.
"This is so cute I'm going to barf." Kristina laughed and Mirabella agreed while fake gagging.
Kaleb though, ignored them while his eyes danced on my lips after I licked the water off them. He leaned and planted a soft kiss on my lips, lingering a bit until Mirabella whined.
"Okay okay enough. We're at school guys. Jesus."
I giggled, pecking Kaleb and pulling away seeing as he wasn't going to be the first to move. "I'll go refill this and come back." He said, getting up and taking the water bottle with him. I nod and watch him run off in the direction of the school.
"This was so ew," Mira gagged. "To see him this affectionate towards you. I've never seen him such a wimp. He's so fucking whipped it's funny." She laughed. "I can't wait to tell mom how he's acting. Dammit, I should have recorded the moment."
I stared at her, amused, and shook my head. We talked for a few until the P.E. teacher finally showed up. He separated the girls from the boys and had us running laps around the field. Five to be exact.
While the boys will continue playing football. I think they had it better than we did and grew envious of their task.
But I knew whining would get me nowhere so I set for the field with Mira and Kristina pouting behind me. Mira had tried to make up an excuse to the coach so she'd skip the run but he wasn't buying it.
So she ended up pretending to have twisted her ankle and Kristina helped her to the nurse's office. However, I doubt they even got the office seeing as nothing was clearly not wrong with Mira's ankle.
For a second I regret not having joined them in their fraud but I knew I'd not get this chance alone with my thoughts as I run across the field and let the wind brush through my hair in comfort.
I was on my second lap and ahead of the pack when I felt the presence of someone behind me, so close I can feel the gust of wind blowing from their motions and hear the soft pants coming from their mouth.
Soon they are beside me, her sickly sweet perfume suffocating me. "Heard what happened earlier." Juliet murmurs, her breathing coming out as shaky pants.
I side eyed her while keeping up my pace. "Did you now?" Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
From the corner of my eye, I saw her nod. "Heard it was your birthday too. Happy birthday."
I frowned. Juliet has never been this nice to me or cared enough to engage in a conversation with me. Her sudden attention was weird.
"Cut the bullshit Juliet. What do you want?" I didn't stop running as I asked her.
"I actually want nothing. We got off on the wrong foot Bailey and I don't want us to be hostile towards each other anymore."
I slowed down and looked at her in surprise. She's facing forward but when she senses my gaze she looks at me. " I truly mean it. Happy birthday Bailey."
And with that she picked up her pace, running ahead of me, in my lane. I frowned, not sure if to trust her or not. However, my thoughts came to a complete halt when I suddenly felt a sharp pain pierce under my foot.
"Ahh!" I screamed loud as I fell to the ground.
