Chapter 426
Chapter 426
Grace strolled into the hospital room. “Ms. Penelope, how are you feeling now? I brought you some homemade soup I’ve been simmering all night.”
Grace had made the soup in secret, after her daughter Allison was asleep, worried she would be discovered. She had a hunch Allison was onto her, but how could she hide her emotions when she saw Penelope hurt?
It was all her fault. She should never have done it. She regretted it so much. She owed an apology to both Allison and Penelope.
Penelope frowned at Grace’s downtrodden appearance, but said, “Sit down, Ms. Grace.”
Grace poured out the soup, and its aroma filled the room. Penelope was quite hungry. Margo’s cooking was mediocre at best. After drinking a bit of the soup, she said to Grace, “Ms. Grace, I came to see you today because there’s something I want to talk to you about.”
Leaning back, Penelope continued, “I’ve broken my arm and leg, but three months from now, I’ll be marrying Lucian. You’ve watched me grow up, so of course, I wanted to share this happy news with you.”
Grace was of course thrilled. A conversation with Penelope always perked her up, and the prospect of witnessing Penelope’s wedding made her ecstatic. “Ms. Penelope, I wouldn’t miss your wedding for the world.”
“Of course, Ms. Grace. You’ve seen me grow up. I can be a bit willful at times, but I’ve always appreciated your kindness. I still remember when my mom punished me and didn’t allow me to have chocolate. I was hiding and crying in the storage room, and you were the one who came to comfort me and sneak me a piece. And when I didn’t want to learn to play the piano because it hurt my fingers, you were the one who sat with me in the piano room and encouraged me.”
Grace’s eyes welled up with tears. “I had no idea you remembered all that, Ms. Penelope.” She knew Penélope could be spoiled at times, but she was good at heart.
“You’ve always been good to me, of course I remember. I was a bit disrespectful at times when I was younger. I hope you don’t mind, Ms. Grace.”
“Ms. Penelope, don’t mention it. As long as you’re happy and live a blessed life, that’s all that matters.”
“Ms. Grace,” Penelope said. “That offer you had to move to another city…”
Grace replied, “I could go, but Allison won’t. She says her home is here, and her dad and Ricky are here. She doesn’t want to go anywhere. We’ve always lived here, so where else could we go… Ms. Penelope, I know you have issues with Allison…” This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
This put Grace in a difficult position. She didn’t really want to leave either.
Penelope squinted, sensing that Allison wouldn’t leave. Even though Grace was kind to her, she wouldn’t let her and Allison leave Northfield. So, Penelope started to consider other options.
What good did it do Allison to like Lucian? Whether due to pressure or because of the Lindberg family, Lucian had to choose Penelope.
Allison’s status was too humble. Even if Lucian liked her, the Lindberg family would never accept her.
She wanted Allison to attend her wedding with Lucian!! She wanted Allison to witness her becoming Lucian’s wife!
Whether or not Allison entered the entertainment industry was irrelevant. Penelope thought, at Epic Entertainment, no one could overshadow her, and the best resources were hers. Allison would have her freedom for a few days until her wounds, healed.
“Ms. Grace, I’ve come to terms with it. Although there’s tension between Allison and me, we’ve known each other for years and grew up together. I’m about to get married, and Allison’s still single. I have a friend from a good family that I’d like to introduce to Allison.”
Grace hesitated, “Well…”
