The Pain
In the other apartment
“Jace, let me explain this. Mercedes really brought me to my senses. I’m sorry…”.
Before Saphira can finish her pleading, the bathroom door slams shut, cutting her off from her mate. Jace passed her and retreated to the bathroom without even giving her one look. Startled, she stares at the closed door, she can’t believe Jace is treating her so coldly. This isn’t the man she had so passionately made love to days ago, who had confessed his deep devotion to her and promised to protect her always.
Tears sting her eyes, the feeling of rejection is so painful that she collapses on the floor. The regret of her actions makes her sob, her body shaking with fear of losing her mate forever. When Jace comes out of the bathroom, he is completely dressed in sportswear. He ignores the woman sitting full of misery on the floor, takes his bag and keeps it in the walk-in closet.
He then walks out of the apartment to the resort’s terrace where he takes a seat at one of the tables overlooking the lake. Staring across the lake, he sips the beer he ordered. “Did Saphira really think she can just walk up to me and I’ll happily hold her in my arms? Does she even know what she’s done to me?”, roams through his mind. His self-esteem prevents him from giving in to her, though he longs so much to hide his face in her hair, to hold her against him. The pain he feels from her betrayal is still fresh.
The evening they spent together, he opened his heart to her, gave her everything he had. Out of sheer joy to finally have her with him. Not for a moment did she share with him the doubts that preoccupied her, which threatened their love. She didn’t give him a fair chance to convince her that he was willing to look for solutions. She only looted him of everything he owned and then quietly left with his heart without thinking about how he was supposed to live without it. She is such a heartless, selfish mate.
But Jace also realizes that he still loves her no matter what happened, no matter what she did to him. Saphira still owns his heart. Maybe it’s the mate bond, but he doesn’t care at all.
He wants her, will never let her go. But the pain in his heart is real, he can’t give in easily. To avoid repetition, she has to realize that she must carefully consider her actions in the future and think about him too. A relationship is a two-way street, in everything, one must take the other party’s feelings into account. Saphira tried to challenge the mate bond without realizing it would harm him. What she did was wrong. But still he can’t let her go, he needs her in his life. And she didn’t realize that after everything he confided to her that night together. That hurts. Like a bitch! But he’s going to keep her no matter what.
“Anything else for you?” asks the waitress who has come to stand next to his table. She blinks seductively, it’s clear she means more with her words. Jace slowly turns to her. She swings her hair back in such a way that he’s able to see a large part of her breasts through her low-buttoned shirt. The man looks at her and thinks it would be good to teach Saphira a lesson. Perhaps when she sees that another she-wolves appreciate what she so desperately wanted to get rid of, she will also experience the pain of rejection and the feeling of not being enough for your mate. That is all he feels at the moment.
“What else do you have to offer?” I ask her dryly, staring straight at her lips. They are not as round and wide as my mate’s, actually, I’m not too fond of her narrow mouth which definitely wouldn’t satisfy me in bed, Jace muses. Not now and never not. The waitress takes his words with a confident grin, pushing her breasts forward. “A lot. But it takes a man to find that out”, she challenges him. Jace motioned her to sit in the chair in front of him. It’s not busy on the terrace yet so he assumes she can afford a few minutes with him.
“I’m mated. My woman will be on the terrace in a minute, I want you to play this game with me. I want to make her jealous, make her pay for what she did to me,” I confide in her. Her eyebrows shoot up. “What’s in it for me? I already thought a high ranking like you wouldn’t bother a simple she-wolf like me,” she replies, somewhat hurt. I slide a few hundred-dollar bills her way. She takes them and tucks them into her cleavage.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
“Take care of my safety. Jealous women tend to fight for their man and I have to earn my living here even after you two are back lovey-dovey in bed,” she demands. The very idea that Saphira would want to fight for me fills me with pleasure. But of course, I can’t put this woman in danger. “Sure thing. I will be on alert”, I promise.
And she immediately starts her job. She brings her hand to my face, caressing it intimately as she slips her thumb between my lips. “This is the easiest deal I’ve ever made,” she whispers. “Just a little while and I’ll forget I’ve been paid to do this. You’re such a gorgeous man”. Yes, obviously this is her specialty, she probably has a lot of clients to try this act on.
From a distance, I hear a room door close. I take a deep breath and indeed, Saphira’s scent permeates my nostrils. She is walking towards me but suddenly halts. I sit with my back to her so I am completely at the mercy of my advance hearing. I take the she-wolf’s hand, pull her up from her chair and with one hand around her waist, I walk with her to the beach a few meters away.
As we passed a palm tree, I pushed the woman against the trunk, my face hovering above hers as if I wanted to kiss her. “Hold still, I think she’s watching us”, I whisper to the lady. She nods breathlessly, her eyes fixed on my mouth as I focus on my hearing.
And as I bury my hand in the hair of the woman in front of me and bow my head, I feel a strong wind diving our way. One second later, the woman is lying in the sand, a ferocious Saphira is staring at me. “Is this what you do once I turn my back? Going after the women while you have a mate?” she cries. “I’ll kill you, Jace. Look at another woman again and you will see what I am capable of.”…
