The Alpha’s Little Luna

I Need Love

Beta Jace’s POINT OF VIEW

“Seriously, Saphira? What was I supposed to do when you abandoned me, left me alone in the pack without a word, an explanation of where you were going and why?” I bite at her.

My chest squeezes painfully at the pained look in her eyes. But I must stand strong, Saphira is a woman of great willpower, and one wrong word from me and I will lose her forever. “When you snuck out of Midnight Moon, didn’t you think for one moment you had a mate too? Don’t come here acting to be a martyr. If you don’t want me anymore, I have the right to find another mate,” I tell her sternly. “You are not going to imprison me invisibly from a distance. I have a right to love. And if you’re not willing to give it to me, I’m free to look for it elsewhere.”

My words seem to make her more furious, her eyes are now spitting fire.

“You are entitled to nothing! I’m warning you, Jace. Please, do not underestimate me. You won’t run off with any other woman,” she spells to my face. No she-wolf would dare talk to me like that without risking being beheaded. But here’s my mate, my better half. I am limited in my punishments for her, I would only hurt myself more.

“Listen, you’ve left me. We’re not mates anymore. You can do whatever you want and that’s the way it is with me too,” I hiss at her. “Get off me. The lady made me an interesting offer. You are wasting my time.” With one move, she has now pressed me against the palm tree. She’s fast and strong, that mate of mine. Her soft hand grips my throat, a simmer of pleasure runs through my spine. And when she presses her body against mine, I have to do everything I can to keep my composure.

“Are you rejecting me, Jace? Then I have a surprise for you. I do not accept your rejection. You are stuck with me and any woman who puts her claws on you is dead. What do you think of that, playboy?” Her face is still twisted with jealousy, which is a good sign. She claims me as her mate, is jealous of a woman who wants to share my bed. What is missing here is her lack of making a clear conscious choice. Choosing me also means that she has to trust me, share her concerns with me and most of all don’t consider running away from me if our relationship gets into a slump. She let me down once, the pain for me and my wolf was insufferable. I don’t want to go through this again. Saphira needs to get her business in order.

“You have to decide for yourself. When Zane and Mercedes are ready, I’ll go back to Midnight Moon. And if you’re not back there in a week, I’ll take that as you don’t want me as your mate. And then I’ll be a free man to do what I want,” I announce. “You know where to find me. One week, Saphira. The consequences are all yours.” And with that, I free myself from her grip and walk back to the terrace. I struggle to control my emotions. But my heart begins to beat like mad. This risky bluffing poker can take a different turn.

What will I do if she doesn’t come to me? I know that from now on I will not be able to sleep with another woman. Saphira has her mark permanently imprinted on me, life without her will be complete hell. Bravely I step further and further away from her, her eyes burning into my back again.

When I step back onto the terrace, Mercedes and Zane are already sitting together at a table. I slow my pace and look at the two who actually have enough in each other, the world fades from them as long as they are together. Mercedes is always attached to Zane, she never wants to leave him alone when she is around. It’s been like that since she was ten, Zane is so used to it, he doesn’t know his mate any different. This is the relationship I want to build with Saphira, if only she wasn’t so stubborn. I want to reassure her that I’m always there for her when she’s having a problem, she just has to trust me. Deep sigh.

When I finally reach them and seize a seat at their table, they haven’t noticed me yet. “Hey, what’s this? Has no one seen me sitting here?” I ask, acting insulted. Mercedes lets go of her mate and looks at me apologetically. “Hey Jace, what’s up? Where is Saphira?” my pack’s Luna asks as she looks around for her friend. When she finally locates Saphira, her eyes light up. I refuse to turn to face my mate but I can feel her getting closer. Even when she settles down in the seat next to me, I still don’t turn to her. I can feel her annoyance growing, she is clearly not used to being ignored.

Mercedes and Zane look at us inquiringly. “Is the war still going on between you? Have you not smoked the peace pipe yet?” Zane tries to save the atmosphere. I roll my eyes, my face straight. I nod to the counter and to my delight, my partner in crime arrives at our table. Probably I paid her too much and she believes her job isn’t over yet. I hand in my order with a restrained smile. “Give me another beer and ask at the table what they want to drink”, I tell the woman.

“A beer for you, handsome? I can get you that.” Next to me, I hear a soft, menacing growl. I do everything I can to suppress the bubbling burst of laughter. Zane and Mercedes order their drink, Saphira stubbornly remains silent, even when the waitress asks her twice about her order. “Give her a liqueur, it will improve her mood”, I finally say, amused. Saphira murmurs something but I pay no attention to it.

After also eating a hearty meal, we decided to go to the beach.

With tangled fingers, Zane walks to a cabin with his mate while Saphira and I follow meters away. Zane helps Mercedes in her tiny bikini, it’s never been different, I think. When Saphira finally takes off her clothes, I freeze on the spot.

“No way, no fucking way!” I exclaim, jumping on my feet. I quickly take off my sweater and jerk it over my mate’s body. …Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
