Chapter 148
Trevor watched her back and felt bewildered, wondering what had happened to her.
The duo returned to their seats and resumed eating.
While he ate, Trevor raised his eyes to watch Jessica, his chewing gradually slowing down. Inexplicably, he felt that she was behaving oddly, her countenance pale. "Have a taste of this. It's said to be their signature dish."
"Thank you."
Facing the man's enthusiasm, Jessica did not even raise her head and merely responded lazily.
Moreover, she did not taste what he offered and instead picked another dish instead.
"Jessica..."
He couldn't tolerate it anymore.
"What's the matter, Mr. Gulliford?"
She raised her head to meet his gaze impassively.
"What's wrong? You don't seem to be in a good mood."
He could sense that she was absolutely upset about something.
"Not at all. You overthought, Mr. Gulliford. It's my honor to be able to come abroad with you."
She forced a smile and continued eating.
Trevor pulled out a card from his pocket and placed it before her, saying tentatively, "There are 1.5 million dollars in here. If you're still unhappy, I'll write you a check after we get back to Horington." "Could it be because of money?" he pondered in puzzlement.
"Thank you, Mr. Gulliford. I'm extremely glad that you still remember this."
"It's truly unexpected that you still remember such a thing after being kissed by that blonde, blue-eyed woman," she added mentally.
"What's wrong, Jessica?"
Trevor was never a patient person. He raised his slender fingers and grabbed her hand that was reaching for more food.
"Don't be like that. Speak your mind if you're upset. Don't bottle it up."
"I'm not upset! What exactly are you worried about?"
She furrowed her brows and looked at the fingers grabbing her.
What exactly is this man doing? I'm upset? I'm not! I'm just not in a good mood due to hunger. That's right. I'm starving, she thought.
He retracted his hand, put down his cutlery, and merely gazed at her, saying nothing more.
"Hey, Trevor. Are you not done eating?"
That foreign beauty came over again. Jessica lowered her cutleries and nodded politely, yet she was feeling somewhat unhappy on the inside. Trevor responded in a friendly manner, his gaze filling with tenderness. "Mm, I'm done. Are you done too, Aunt Imelda?"
"Aunt Imelda?" Jessica subconsciously muttered under her breath, slightly stunned.
"She's his aunt?" she mused.
"Ah, I forgot to make introductions..

told
"No, no, you've misunderstood. We only have a working relationship," explained Jessica hurriedly as she stood up.
Nonetheless, her lips subconsciously quirked up, and her earlier discontentment instantly vanished.
"Was I jealous?" she wondered.
Realizing that, she stiffened.
"No way. Why would I be jealous? That's impossible. I must not have any thoughts about Trevor anymore. Five years in war and three years abroad have gone by. Are eight

your mind, Jessica Jackson?" she ruminated.
"Then, I won't disturb you guys anymore. Have a good chat."
The woman turned to leave without saying anything else.
"Aunt Imelda watched me grow up, so we're fairly close. Don't mind her. Moreover, the way foreigners communicate is a lot more intimate. However, in her eyes, I'm reallyĝust a child elucidated Trevor gently.
Even he was curious why someone with zero patience like him would become so talkative before Jessica.
