Chapter 335
Chapter 335
"Contact the Carvers and tell them to submit their plan to me for tiding over this financial crisis. If they cannot come up with a reasonable solution, we will end our contract with them and proceed with the termination terms in the original contract. If they are able to solve this financial crisis, we will put this collaboration on hold for the time being and come to a decision once everything has died down."
"Understood, sir."
Scott hung up and put down his phone. The reflection of the city lights glinted in his dark, penetrating eyes.
Jay, who was sitting next to him, could not help but feel nervous when he overheard this conversation. He had worked for Scott for so many years now that he was already familiar with Scott's work ethic. He was always quick, sharp, and accurate. His swift thinking and confidence were some of the most crucial reasons that Lawson Group even managed to grow and expand so quickly.
Jay had to admit that some people were born to be businessmen, and Scott was one of them. He was more intelligent and observant than anyone else Jay had ever met, which was how he earned the admiration of everyone in the company, including Jay himself.
However, even Jay had to admit that recently, he had been puzzled by some of Scott's decisions. He could not help but feel that something was a little off ever since Scott got divorced and decided to shift his attention back to the country.
This was reflected more so in the collaboration with Carver Corporation. Scott had chosen time and time again to veer outside of their original plan. Initially, Jay thought it was because the Lawsons and the Carvers were so close that they did not need a formal contract to dictate their business partnership. Shortly after signing the contract, everything went back to normal, so Jay deduced that it had probably been a minor blip.
To his surprise, however, not long after signing the contract, Scott suddenly sent someone to investigate Carver Corporation's financial background. If anything, investigating a company after signing a contract with them felt rather pointless to Jay.
It was not until their accidental discovery of Carver Corporation's massive debt that Jay realized Scott was again one step ahead. However, what happened next puzzled him even more; instead of contacting Carver Corporation to resolve this privately, Scott deliberately spread the news of Carver Corporation's financial downfall, leading to all the other companies pulling out of their partnerships with Carver Corporation.
This was different from Scott's usual style, and this puzzled Jay very much.
He could not help but wonder if something had happened to skew Scott's judgment. Otherwise, why would he make these seemingly foolish decisions left and right?
However, on further scrutiny, Jay realized that Scott was behaving perfectly normally in other aspects of work and life, save for his erratic decision-making when it came to Carver Corporation. Clearly, Scott was not suffering some kind of mental break.
Jay finally got his answer after overhearing Scott's conversation on the phone just now. It would appear that Scott had never intended to work with Carver Corporation and was instead using this opportunity to force Carver Corporation to screw their heads on straight.
The truth was that Carver Corporation's glory days had already come to an end, and things were beginning to go downhill from there on out. It was almost impossible for Carver Corporation to pull itself back to the top again.
Although the Lawsons and the Carvers were very close, it did not mean that the Lawson Group was obliged
to sacrifice everything to pull the Carver Corporation up. Lawson Group still needed to look after themselves first.
If anything, the smarter decision would be to partner with another company with greater potential and less risk. Scott had already done the Carvers a huge favor by choosing to work with Carver Corporation in the first place, but unfortunately, he still could not save them.
Therefore, Scott had no choice but to force Carver Corporation into a difficult position-to remain in their old, clearly unproductive ways and risk losing a million-dollar business partnership or to accept Lawson Group's help and fix their problems.
If Lawson Group were to work alongside Carver Corporation, they would be able to extend a helping hand that could catapult Carver Corporation back to its former glory again. Still, they had to have the courage to admit that they needed help.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
Besides that, once Lawson Group agreed to continue working with Carver Corporation, all the other companies would follow suit, thereby starting a positive cycle that could eventually end in Carver Corporation flourishing again.
