Chapter 0372

Sawyer commented, "It could be an infection. I tried to talk him into having the wound examined at the hospital, but he refused." Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.

Candice furrowed slightly at the news of Alex's infection.

Yesterday, she worried about the possibility of Alex's wound being infected when he returned to the hotel and took a shower. She had hoped he would be fine, but it ended up being a problem.

"Mr. Elysian has had a mild fever since yesterday afternoon. At first, I didn't pay much attention to his condition, but today, his fever worsened. I just called the doctor, and she guided me to prepare some antibiotics for him."

Sawyer continued, "Could you go check on him? I'm worried about him being alone and ill in his room."

Candice refused and revealed, "Alex is allergic to some prescriptions. I'll get some medicine for him."

This was the very reason she worried about him. Alex was fragile and sensitive. This man was allergic to a variety of antibiotics.

Sawyer remained rooted and startled by Candice's words. His employer had never discussed his allergies with him.

Alex rarely fell ill and needed to take medication.

Candice herself had learned of this after spending a lot of time with him.

Fortunately, she found a pharmacy nearby. Candice purchased the medication as per the doctor's recommendations and Alex's condition.

While she was paying at the counter, she saw several missed calls from Sawyer on her phone. She must have overlooked it due to her chaotic emotions.

When Candice returned, she found Sawyer waiting for her at the hotel room's door.

He asked, "I need to go back to my room, and there's a document that needs my attention. Could you handle this?"

Candice wanted to turn him down, but she stopped talking when she saw Sawyer's bandage on his head.

Sawyer's wound was worse than Alex's.

Part of the reason for Alex being injured was to protect her. By all means, it was right for her to look after him.

Earlier on, Sawyer disclosed that Alex was having a high fever.

When Candice entered the room, she discovered Alex propped against the headboard. His cheeks were unusually flushed.

He was sitting in front of his computer and deeply engrossed in his work. He didn't notice she had entered the room.

She placed the pills beside him and asked quietly, "Have you had dinner?"

Alex looked up from the screen and asked in a scratchy voice, "Did Sawyer send you?"

"He's clueless about which medications you're allergic to," Candice explained before getting him a cup of warm water. She urged, "You need to eat something before you take your pills. Have you replaced the dressing on your wound?"

Alex was dressed in loungewear and gave the impression of being homey. When he took the glass from Candice, his brows furrowed as their fingertips accidentally brushed each other.

Candice asked, "Have you taken your temperature?"

Alex's skin was burning hot. There was a feverish flush on his cheeks, and his eyes had turned a darker hue.

She bit her lip and suggested, "If it gets worse, you need to go to the hospital."

"I don't think it's necessary," Alex said.

Candice knew this man well; the hospital was his least favorite place.

Despite this, when she saw the weariness hidden in Alex's eyes and his pale complexion, she couldn't help but become worried about him.

She urged quietly, "If you don't take your health seriously, no one else will. If you have to pretend to be invincible, tough it out, and insist on going through this without medical treatment, then you should stick to the end."

In annoyance, Candice tossed the medicine onto the table. She added, "If you're such a tough guy, don't bother to take the pills."

After her outburst, Alex remained silent. He lifted his face and locked his eyes on her. Then, he pressed his lips into a line, as if dissatisfied.
