Chapter 206 Compromise
Blanca was weak and drunk. And then she fainted. Matthew was stunned, bewildered by the accident. He looked down at his clothes, which were desperately nasty. Anger was boiling up inside him because of his mysophobia. Then he looked at Blanca, who was lying sprawled on the ground with her eyes tight shut. Matthew didn’t know if she was passed out or asleep.
Matthew dashed into the bathroom and took a bath. Then he called Mrs. Brown for help.
When Blanca woke up, it was eleven o’clock. She had a great sleep that night. She stretched and took a deep, satisfied breath. The sun was shining through the windows. Feeling the warm sunshine, Blanca was in a very good mood. She looked around and found she was already at home. Then she noticed her clothes had changed, and soon, she remembered what had happened last night. She had thrown up on Matthew. Just thinking about it, Blanca was absolutely stunned, her mouth hanging open.
At this moment, Mrs. Brown came in. “Are you awake, Mrs. Grant? Mr. Grant asked me to make some delicious food for you. Look, I’ve done it! Come and get it,” Mrs. Brown said and put the meal on a table. The smell made Blanca’s mouth water. She forgot all her troubles and began to wolf down the tasty meal.
“How did I get back here, Mrs. Brown?” Blanca said, after she was full.
After years of working as a servant, Mrs. Brown had learned to read men’s faces. She knew she had to be a peacemaker in the family. She smiled and said, “I’m the right person to ask, for I’ve seen it with my own eyes. Last night, you were so drunk and Mr. Grant brought you home.”
Matthew? Blanca stared at Mrs. Brown, uncomprehending. “That can’t be true, because I threw up on him! You know, he has mysophobia.”
Mrs. Brown chuckled. “Yeah, you did it.” Yesterday, after she got Matthew’s call, she went to that bar. When she arrived, Blanca was lying on the ground and Matthew was washing his hands.
“Mr. Grant is still angry, Mrs. Grant. You need to behave well and try to soothe him,” Mrs. Brown continued.
“Er?” Before Blanca had grasped her meaning, Mrs. Brown said, “Could you bring Mr. Grant his lunch? The driver is already waiting outside.”
Blanca wanted to say no, for she and Matthew were still in a fight, but Mrs. Brown had seen her through. Mrs. Brown sighed and said, “What a pity. Mr. Grant’s suit has been covered in vomit. You know what? It is his favorite suit and is designed by a renowned Italian designer. I heard the suit is worth one million dollars!”
One million dollars?! Blanca almost jumped in surprise. She knew she was in very big trouble, for the compensation of the suit was way beyond her.
“I’ll bring it to him.” Blanca said and managed a smile. She compromised and took Matthew’s lunch boxes.
As Blanca sat in the car, she lapsed into silence, looking out of the window. She knew there was only one thing that she could never be compromised. That was, she must work with Peter, as his assistant. The driver turned up the radio and songs echoed in the car. After a few moments, a familiar voice came from the radio.Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
