Redmption 74

Redmption 74

The medicated spray worked well. The burning pain

almost immediately.

in my mouth was relieved.

During lunch, I felt much more at ease while drinking water.

However, I still didn’t dare to eat any food. There was salt, spices, and other ingredients in the food which would definitely make my ulcers hurt again.

“Let’s order some risotto, Maddie. We can just order some steamed broccoli on the side,” Kara said, trying to come up with things I could eat.

I knew that she had to have meat with every meal, so I said, “I’ll be okay with just the risotto, but order whatever you like.”

Kara was about to say something when Brandon walked over and asked, “Can I leech off you guys for lunch today?”

It was really strange to see such a strong, independent man use a term like leech off“. However, I was still going to turn him down. After all, I still felt awkward about him helping me with the medicine, no matter how casual he, seemed about it.

Before I could speak, Kara nodded enthusiastically like the fangirl she was. Okay! What do you want for lunch?”

“I…” he trailed off as he looked at me. “I’ll have the same thing as Ms. Crown.”

Kara widened her eyes. “Only risotto? What about other sides?”

“I need something easy on the mouth and not too flavorful,” he said as he pointed at his mouth. “I haven’t been drinking much water recently either.”

That was true.

“So, you’re dehydrated too,” Kara observed. She then muttered to herself, “I’m the only one who feels fine. That really makes me seem like a slacker.”

The three of us ended up ordering risotto, salad on the side and some grilled fish.

“Mr. Howell, are you sure this is enough? You don’t have to be shy,” Kara said even after completing our orders.

“Yes.” Brandon was a man of few words.

After the few days we had spent working together, I came to notice that he spent most of his time doing, not talking.

“Maddie, should we order a couple more things? Mr. Howell doesn’t look like someone who eats that little,” Kara said while Brandon was somewhere else. My mouth was already uncomfortable and I didn’t feel like eating much. I did my best to keep my answer short and sweet. “He’s the lean type, not a bulker.”

Right after saying that, the image of Brandon washing his hair while wearing a tank top surfaced in my mind. His lean muscles were really something.

I

“I think he’s pretty lean too, but I just never get the chance to see for myself,” Kara said, her gaze glinting as if she wished she could see through Brandon’s clothes.

I

didn’t know what to say to such a lustful young lady. “Well, the opportunity is there for you to take. You could always go up there and rip his shirt off. You’d be able to get a good look then.”

“Maddie!” Kara said, embarrassed. I thought she would keep quiet after that, but she piped up again and said, “Maddie, I think Mr. Howell has feelings for you.”

I choked on a mouthful of water.

“I’m serious, Maddie! He looks at you a certain way. He’s also so easily physical with you,” Kara said before reaching out and attempting to hold my chin like he had.

I swatted her hand away. “Are you ready to say goodbye to your bonus?”

“It’s lunchtime! We’re on break,” Kara said matter–of–factly.

“Maddie, maybe you should really give it a try with Mr. Howell. It would be a good way to piss Mr. Gildon off.” Kara was really a rich spring of wild ideas.

I let out a chuckle. “I thought you liked Brandon.”

“He doesn’t like me, though!” Kara said reasonably. “Apart from the fact that he isn’t a CEO, he’s better than Mr. Gildon in every aspect.”

She really had good taste.

“Maddie, if you’re shy about it, I can become your matchmaker!” Kara said boldly.

I wanted to

laugh. Kelly had tried to matchmake the two of us, and now Karal was trying to match–make us as well.

Did Brandon and I seem like that good of a match?

“I’ll go and ask him right now!” Kara leaped up, ready to find him like the go- getter she was.

I grabbed her and made her sit down. “Sit down! No more talking about this, okay? We’re never going to become an item.”

“Why not?” Kara couldn’t understand. “Is he not your type?”

In order to stop Kara from doing anything crazy and making things between Brandon and me even more awkward, I nodded.

“You’re not that shallow, Maddie. Mr. Howell just isn’t as rich as Mr. Gildon, that’s all.” Kara was still trying to change my mind.
