Redmption 73
Redmption 73
It seemed like it was time to tell him what I really thought.
“Chris, what you think is a small mistake is something I can’t stand. After so many years together, you should know how much I hate sharing,” I said as I stepped aside and put even more distance between us.
“We don’t have to be dramatically in love, but I can never accept my partner flirting with others, not even a little bit. If I’m dating you, then I want all of you.” I turned, wanting to see Chris‘ expression.
However, I accidentally met Brandon’s gaze. We were only a few steps away from each other. He seemed to have also heard what I had said.
Our gazes only met for a second before I looked away and back at Chris. His gaze was full of impatience as he said, “Madeline, you should know that sort of thing only exists in fairy tales, not our modern society. Stop trying to live out your dreams.”
He was right. Temptation was everywhere nowadays, and everything was faster, like cars, communication, and even relationships.
I smiled mildly. “If that doesn’t exist, then I won’t start at all. I’m not going to settle.‘
Chris was left speechless by my determination. I looked at him and said, ”
Chris, I hope this is the last time we’re going to talk about such things. Let’s go our own ways after splitting up. You should know how to leave the past behind you.”
Chris scoffed coldly and said, “Sure. Let’s go our own ways. I’d like to see what kind of guy you’re going to move on to next.”
After that, he turned around and left angrily.
I couldn’t help but feel like he was extremely childish. He was really acting like
a child. If he was more mature, he wouldn’t be coming back to me so often after we already broke up.
Kara returned with the medicine and asked me quietly, “I see you and Chris have argued again. He was angrier than a bear with a sore head!”
She really was used to making jokes. I took the medicine from her and opened it as I said, “I’ve never seen a bear with a sore head. Why don’t you give me an example of what that looks like?”
“Come on, Maddie.” Kara nudged me lightly. “Did he come here to ask to get back together with you? Why don’t you give him another chance? He must still love you, or he wouldn’t-”
“Allow me to do it.”
Suddenly, Brandon came over and cut Kara off. He reached out and took the medicine from me, opening it swiftly with his large hands.
“Ms. Spraggins, my markers have run out of ink. Please go and get me a black and a red marker,” he said as he opened the medicine.
“Alright. I’ll be right back,” she said. She didn’t dare to take her idol–slash- benefactor’s words lightly.
He was done removing the packaging of the medicine by the time she left, but instead of passing it to me, he turned and gave it a quick spray into midair before looking at me. “Open up.”
“No, it’s fine. I can do it myself.” I knew what he wanted to do and turned him down, reaching out for the spray bottle.
He lifted it up high to a point that I couldn’t reach even if I jumped.
I sighed. I had lost to the man in front of me yet again.
“Are you going to be able to look into your own mouth?” he asked.
I was stunned by his question and fell silent. He said, “I’m just applying medicine for you because I want you to get better soon for the sake of our progress. There’s no need to feel ashamed, right, Ms. Crown?”
He sounded like he was accusing me of holding something against him if I didn’t let him help me.
All I could do was open my mouth and let him help.
The cold feeling of the spray in my mouth caused me to shudder. The very next moment, his large hand clamped down on my shoulder and pulled me closer to him.
Since I was looking up, all I could see was the sky. The sun was shining uncomfortably into my eyes, so I narrowed them slightly while letting Brandon. hold on to me as he resprayed the antiseptic.
For some reason, I felt floaty and disconnected while my eyes were closed. I suddenly remembered that I could have looked into a mirror to see my own ulcers.
However, it was too late to say anything now. Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
