When I opened my eyes my entire family was lurking around the place. It was obvious they were happy that I had safely given birth.
“You are awake? You have done well” Emila said as I opened my eyes.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
She had become a darling when she began to try to accept me as her family I then began to understand what Noah meant when he said that his mother was a darling. She was so helpful.
On days when I felt tired she helped me make energy-giving meals and then went ahead to take Lisa off my hand for the time being.
“Thank you” I whisper before my eyes fall on everyone standing there.
“So the baby’s name?” Cara asked.
She was always so impatient about things like these.
“Cara, they will let us know when they want to,” Ana said.
“Well our baby boy would be named Edward Lynch Lorraine-Mirchoff,” Noah tells them.
“Why are you naming your baby like one old man?” Cara asked and a few minutes later she was wincing in pain beside Ana was beside her pinching her arm.
“Stop that,” Cara said in a cry.
“I will only stop it if you can stop your mouth from running all day long that you end up saying things you are not supposed to,” Ana says again.
“I will take the young ones out for some ice cream” Ana adds going out to meet those who were not allowed to be inside.
“I love the name” my mom comes up to meet me by the bed. “And you have done so very well that it gladdens my heart” she adds as she brushes my hair with her hand
“Have you had anything to eat?” Emila asked.
“Not yet”
“Noah” she screams at her son when she hears my response.
Noah turns to her shocked that she was screaming at him. “Mom don’t you love me anymore?” he asked with a pout.
“Of course, I do, why would you question my love for you?” she replied facing him. He was on the left side of the bed and she was sitting opposite him.
“Because you keep favoring Rachel over me” Noah grumbles.
“Why won’t I favor Rachel? She was the one who had it going for her for nine months while you did nothing but lazy around”
“Mom” Noah cries out loud.
“Do not worry Noah I also think you have done well,” my mom said patting his shoulder. “But I think Rachel has surpassed herself today” she adds which makes Noah’s face rise and fall rapidly.
He bends to my level and looks at me lovingly. Why was he doing that in the presence of our mom?
“I also think Rachel has done so well today” he whispers as he presses a kiss to my cheek.
“So why have you not yet gotten her anything to eat?” Emila asked and Noah rolled his eyes before he raised his head to face her.
“I thought you would make a special meal like you did with Lisa, I do not know what kind of meals she is allowed to eat,” Noah tells them.
“I brought something but I am shocked you do not care about your wife as much as you claim to do” Emila goes on.
“Mom, I guess you should disown me and adopt Rachel, Mom,” he said again turning to face my mom. “I believe you should adopt me instead, I think you would take I’m good care of me instead of her”
“Sure I will,” my mom tells him pinching his cheek like he was a child.
“Mommy” Lisa said as the door opened. Ana was behind her.
“She had been crying to see her mommy,” Ana said as Lisa ran towards the bed and tried to get on it.
Emila carried her up to her lap so she could be on the same level with me. “How are you darling?” I ask caressing her face.
“Fine,” she said sniffling her nose.
“Noah, let her meet her little brother,” I tell him and he nods. He comes over and carries her from his mom’s lap and walks gently to the crib by the side.
“Say hello to your brother”
“Hello brother,” she says cutely and tries to wiggle her way out of his hands so she can touch him.
“You want to touch him?” Noah asks and she nods. He bends a little and she touches his face. She smiles at him and then tries to turn her head to face me.
“Mommy, daddy, brother,” she said in a whisper.
I nod at her and she wiggles her way out of his grip and matches towards the door. Noah runs after her and helps her open the door. He knew that our family was outside so she was in safe hands.
“Our family” I whisper and all parties in the room nod.
It was a family both out of the most special circumstances but in the end, it was worth it. It was my family. Our family.
