Listening to Sandy, Yanis chuckled lightly. "That's because Mr. Hawkins didn't do anything. If he
actually did something, would you spare him?"
Sandy was caught, and she smirked. "So, my judgment is pretty good, huh?"
Yanis didn't argue with her and played along. "Yes, you have the best judgment."
"Yanis, your judgment is great too. Mr. Lawrence cares about you so much, he practically wants to give
you the whole world."
Yanis chuckled in response. "True, he's like a rare gem that can't be found with a lantern. Yet, I
managed to find him."
As Yanis finished her sentence, they heard the sound of a key turning in the lock.
Following the sound, Yanis looked towards the door and saw Zane entering. She waved at Sandy and
hung up the phone before Zane entered the room.
After putting the phone down, Yanis walked over to the door and leaned against the side, watching
Zane change his shoes. He set down his belongings and opened his arms when he saw Yanis, and she
immediately pounced on him. "Are you tired?"
Zane hugged her back. "Not tired, were you waiting for me?"
Yanis didn't deny it. "Are you hungry? Should I make something for you?"
Zane kissed her forehead. "How about you cook me a bowl of noodles? The food Albi ordered for me
earlier wasn't that great."
Yanis nodded and released Zane. She walked to the kitchen while speaking. "You go take a shower
and change. I'll be ready soon."
Zane agreed and followed her into the kitchen, despite her instructions.
Yanis noticed his presence and turned to him. "Why did you come in?"
Zane approached her and wrapped his arms around her from behind. "I wanted to spend a bit more
time with you. I didn't see you all day today."
Yanis smiled, not resisting his embrace. She allowed him to cling to her like a large pendant.
Yanis quickly cooked the noodles and served them. "Let's eat?"
Zane nodded and took the bowl from her, walking to the dining table in the living room. Yanis followed
him and sat down. "Go ahead and eat."
Zane seemed quite hungry, as he quickly finished the entire bowl of noodles, including the soup. After
finishing, he took the dishes to the kitchen and even cleaned up himself.
Yanis watched him tidy up from the dining room. Her mind drifted back to the unsettling nightmares she
had earlier. Wrinkling her brows, she couldn't help but frown.
In her dream, she had seen Zane. He appeared to be fighting with a group of people, struggling and
eventually collapsing beside her, covered in blood...
"Zane."
Suddenly, Yanis called out his name.
Zane looked up, putting his things in order. He walked out of the kitchen and crouched in front of her.
"What's wrong?"
Yanis didn't speak. Instead, she hugged him tightly. "Zane, can you carry me upstairs?"
Without asking questions, Zane picked her up and headed upstairs. In the bedroom, Yanis released
him. "You go take a shower; I'll wait for you to sleep."
Zane agreed, gave her a quick kiss, and went into the bathroom.
Yanis stood there, gazing at the bathroom door, listening to the sound of water, and even hearing the
irregular beating of her own heart.
When the water finally stopped, Yanis immediately got up and stood at the bathroom door. Zane
opened the door and was surprised to see her standing there. He took a step forward. "What are you
doing there?"
Yanis didn't answer, but instead, she hugged him once more. "Why did you take so long to shower?"
Zane was taken aback by her question. He tightened his embrace. "Did something happen today?"
Yanis shook her head and held him silently. After a moment, she spoke, "Shall I dry your hair for you?"
Zane looked at her and handed her a towel hesitantly.
Sitting on a chair, Zane allowed Yanis to sit on his lap as she gently dried his hair. The touch was so
light it was almost imperceptible.
"Yanis."
Zane called her softly.
Yanis responded with a hum. "What's wrong?"
"Did something happen today?"
Yanis paused in drying his hair, then shook her head. "No, I went to the hospital to see Reed, picked up
Aurora, and came back."
Zane didn't press for more details. He let the matter go for now.
After Yanis finished drying his hair, she got up and placed the towel in the bathroom. "I'll go put the
towel away."
Zane nodded, watching her as she entered and exited the bathroom. He gestured for her to come over.
Yanis hesitated for a moment before walking over to him. She stood in front of him, looking down at him
with a slightly dominant posture.
Zane reached out and pulled her onto his lap, asking, "Are you not going to tell me?"
Their eyes met, and they held each other's gaze for a few seconds. Then, Yanis leaned in and initiated
a kiss.
After the kiss, instead of pulling away, she lingered close to him.
Zane remained still, allowing
her to explore. Eventually, Yanis tested the boundaries with her tongue, and he responded in kind,
though he remained restrained due to her physical condition.
Unlike the last time, Yanis didn't tease Zane or reprimand him afterward. When it was over, she simply
nestled quietly in his arms and fell asleep soon after.
Zane thought of asking Yanis what had happened that day, but seeing her asleep, he decided against
it.
Instead, he picked up his phone and texted Aurora to ask about the situation. Aurora's prompt NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
response filled him in on the details.
As Zane read Aurora's message, his brows furrowed slightly.
After a while, he replied, "[I know.]"
Aurora sent another message, apologizing for involving Yanis.
Zane didn't respond to the apology. He put down his phone and held Yanis even tighter.
The next morning, Yanis woke up to find Zane was no longer beside her.
Assuming he had gone to work after staying up late the previous night, Yanis didn't bother getting up.
She adjusted herself into a comfortable position and drifted back to sleep.
After preparing breakfast, Zane called for Yanis.
In her half-asleep state, Yanis opened her eyes and saw Zane sitting by the bed. She was briefly
stunned before reaching out to embrace his waist, lying on him. "Aren't you supposed to be at work?"
