Chapter 67
Sydney didn’t show up to work that day as she had called in sick but the next day after lots of thoughts she finally made her way to work and with the aim to have lunch with Jaxton in his office.
As they had an altercation at the elevator Paxton had taken upon himself to make Sydney miserable by giving her double times the work she normally had to do.
She had plans for lunch break so she put her mind into what had been given to her to do so she would not mess up the lunch break too.
“Are you done with what you are doing?” Paxton asked as he came into her office.
“Not yet sir but I would be done before lunch” she responded.Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Well, when you are done prepare yourself because we would be going for a lunch meeting with a client” Paxton said which caused her to snap up her head.
“Tell me you are joking Paxton?” she asked this time not adding the respect clause to his name.
“I am not joking you would be going with me for a meeting so hurry up” he insisted to her.
“But I have lunch plans already Paxton” she said to him as she stood from her spot.
“And do your plans also involve you jeopardizing your job at the moment?’ he asked with his brows arched.
“So I thought so make yourself available” he said and left her in a state of euphoria and anger.
In anger she continued working and she forgot about Jaxton because he was not responding to her call so she didn’t think of calling him.
Jaxton was expecting Sydney to call again but he checked his phone and there was no message or call from Sydney.
“Maybe she is busy” Jaxton consoled himself.
He tried to ignore.
He continued his work as though nothing was happening but then later on he become worried.
What if she had finally given up on him?
Had he over reacted yesterday?
Maybe he should text her? Or should he just be calm and wait for the storm to be over?
What if he waited and then his brother had a shot at him or what would happen if it were another man?
He took out his phone and typed a message before he then deleted the message he couldn’t beg Sydney, she was on the wrong and she had to apologize to him and not the other way round.
He finally made up his mind because he couldn’t focus on work he took himself to her office but was met with n empty seat.
“Where is Ms. Sydney?” he asked the secretary seated outside on her desk.
“She went for a business meeting with Mr. Paxton White sir” she responded as she waited for the next question but with each passing second what the poor secretary saw was a fit of anger transgression as he stood there with a stoic facial expression.
“What of Mr. Paxton?” he asked to make sure his suspicions where not correct but when the Secretary responded it showed that his suspicions where correct.
“She and Mr. White went out for a business meeting sir” she responded and he began to pace for a bit before he finally left for his office.
Jaxton went back to his office he felt jealousy and rage build up in him but he couldn’t do anything.
Maybe Sydney was right, his anger and jealousy might just be annoying her and maybe it has been keeping away.
He knew Paxton could not touch Sydney because of course she would not let that be.
She was so respectful and had dignity for herself.
“Then why do you doubt her, why do you always make feel like she has hurt you? Why do you get angry from time to time?” something in his mind kept resounding to make him know that there was nothing that was going right in the relationship.
“But she is the one who seems to be spending a lot of time with him” his mind still said trying to justify a lot of things that had been happening.
When he was at his office still pacing up and down thinking and then he had a famous glass of whiskey in hand as he tried to down the feeling of having to think that his brother kind of had a chance with his woman.
As he kept thinking it was just as a reflex because he had to swear he had heard his phone ringing.
He went to the table an picked it up ready to turn the phone off from disturbing his moment of thoughts.
He looked at the screen and had to take a double take because it was Sydney.
“Why is she calling me now that she is with my brother?” he asked himself still filled with jealousy the call went to voicemail.
But immediately it went to voicemail it started again ringing again.
“Hello” he spoke into the phone as it got to his ear.
“Hey Jaxton, you finally picked” Sydney said on the other end and Jaxton still claiming to be mad but kind of satisfied she had called.
“I was in a midst of something before you called, can you go straight to the point?” he said nonchalantly but praying she didn’t take it super bad.
“Okay can we talk when you get the chance?” she asked him quietly.
Looking around at nothing he hummed meaning acceptance to what she had said.
“Hey Syd, could you come try this out” Jaxton heard Paxton called Sydney only hearing this Jaxton began to feel jealous but he had just been happy she called so he stayed quite.
“Your brother is calling me to try out something with a client, please let’s talk when we have the chance” Sydney explained before she hung up.
She had to explain less he thought a lot of things which were not to be thought of.
