Chapter 66
After numerous calls and messages Jaxton not wanting to pick up or responding to any of them so she finally had to exclaim.
“Oh my goodness I am done for” Sydney was just disturbed as she was thinking of the many things Jaxton must have thought about her at the moment.
After checking her phone for the umpteenth time she finally had to forgo everything and wait for the next day, as it was she was already in bed and it was already extremely late.
And she knew nothing could be done.
While back at home Jaxton kept himself busy with a bottle of Jack Daniels.
He didn’t know why and what had made Sydney stand him up and not take his calls. He began to feel a certain way.
“What if Sydney was cheating on him? And what if she was cheating on him with his brother?” he rhetorically asked himself as he took another shot of his Jack Daniels.
Turning he saw his phone ringing and it was Sydney but for the fact that he just didn’t want to argue with her over the phone he didn’t take the call.
Jaxton was getting tired of all the fighting they had been having of recent and he wasn’t one to be bothered about a woman but he had fallen madly in love with this woman so much so that he just could not bare the thought of another man being with her.
After a few more shots of Whiskey he knew for sure that Paxton had something to do with Sydney’s lateness and not picking up his calls too.
A lot of flashes came into mind, the time when he had seen them at lunch playing like teenagers in love. Sydney never for once gave him that leverage to play with him like that.
What about the time when she and he were inches apart from kissing and he walked into them? Damn she was surely playing him.
And with all of these thoughts he threw the glass to the floor and the maid rushed in to see what was happening.
“Let it be” he urged the maid and the poor woman just looked round and then she left.
The night sure was long for the love birds but the morning arrived quite early and the work of the day began so fast.
Paxton entered the office and noticed Sydney had not come.
As it was she was late today but he was not bothered about that, he had purposely delayed her yesterday, when he had been passing by the corridor he heard Sydney talk to Jaxton on phone about a dinner date.
Also she had just been credited her bonus he expected that she would have called him or asked him out to dinner but she had called his brother.
Well it was only logical because she was his girlfriend but Paxton felt super jealous and would not want to spend her wins with anyone but her man.
When Sydney entered the office she didn’t look happy and she didn’t look sad either she just went and gave him the document she wanted him to look over.
“How was your night?” Paxton asked waiting for her to say she went on a date with his brother or not but she just smiled.
“My night was fine” she replied and then turned and left his office.
Paxton sat there not being able to concentrate on the document in front of him as he thought of either whether their date went on as planned or not.
He just was jugged up and had a lot to think of he just was feeling a guilty and jealous of a lot of things.
After much thoughts he then took his suit and then decided that he was going to get some air.
On his way to the elevator he met with Jaxton.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
They had not had a perfect conversation since like forever so the meeting by the elevator just had to be awkward.
“How do you do?” Paxton tried to make small talk.
“I am great and you?” Jaxton responded as they waited for the elevator to open.
“Why are you back to the company today, I thought it is your day off and you had some of town business to do?” Paxton asked his brother surprised to see him at the office and it seemed he had been there since the early hours of the morning.
“Are you driving me from our company or you have some sort of plan to take over everything I own?” Jaxton asked referring to the person of interest.
“But I have not had to take any of your things, what is your problem I was just trying to make small talk” Paxton said taken aback by his brothers outbursts.
“Well as you can see, I don’t want anything ti di with you for now, I still have some business to catch so if you don’t mind I would like to leave in a cool and serene mind” Jaxton said with a smirk which was not even proper because it held a lot of things in it.
“I wasn’t trying to spite you, I was just looking for a way to connect with my brother I cannot remember the last time you and I had a decent conversation” Paxton said matter of fact.
“Well if you haven’t noticed you are some kind of bad luck to myself and Sydney so it would do you good if you restrained from going close to her other than it being work related” Jaxton replied.
“But what do you mean by that now man?” Paxton asked flaring up but calming down either ways because of course his brother was right with what he had just said.
Jaxton turned to the opened elevator and didn’t respond to him and he didn’t even let his brother get on the elevator as it went down.
He pressed the down button.
