Wooing My Ex-Wife

Chapter 601 Xander Captured

Chapter 601 Xander Captured

Logan, with a face marked by wrinkles, wore a wide grin, radiating a warm and amiable aura. “I’ve been with the Jenson family since I was a teenager. Back then, I used to go with the driver to pick up Old Mr. Jenson from school. Time passes in the blink of an eye, and I never thought I would spend half of my life in the Jenson residence.”

Gwendolyn nodded, moved by his words. “No wonder Old Mr. Jenson trusts you, Logan. Having a loyal and dependable butler like you is a blessing for the Jensons.”

“It’s an honor to receive praise from you, Mrs. Jenson,” Logan replied.

Both of them wore smiles as they conversed amiably.

As they were about to descend to the first floor, Gwendolyn continued asking, “Logan, you must be the longest–serving person in the Jenson family. Have you met Cedrick’s parents–my father–in–law and mother–in–law?”

Logan’s smile gradually faded, and a tinge of sadness appeared on his face. “Yes, I have. Mr. Cedrick was his father’s most beloved eldest son. He was still young when they passed away.” ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

Flashbacks of memories overwhelmed him with emotions. “Mr. Cedrick had certainly led a difficult life. Losing his parents at such a young age and being caught in the power struggles between his uncles, he, as the eldest grandson, had to navigate through challenging circumstances. Thankfully, Old Mr. Jenson kept him close and shielded him from numerous plots and schemes, even though he was strict with him.”

“Plots and schemes?” The keywords caught Gwendolyn’s attention. “Indeed, there are always all kinds of dirty secrets within prominent families.”

She paused for a moment and took the opportunity to inquire further. “Even a young child had to face manipulation and schemes. Did Cedrick’s parents really die in a car accident and not due to foul play?“.

Logan looked puzzled. “Mrs. Jenson, why do you ask such a question? Old Mr. Jenson was still a formidable figure in the military back then, and he personally investigated and closed the case. I’m sure there couldn’t have been any mistake.”

Gwendolyn observed Logan’s expression and did not notice anything unusual. I guess he really has no idea what transpired. Old Mr. Jenson closed the case, concluding that it was a car accident, but Yael believes there’s more to it than meets the eye, suspecting foul play. So, who’s lying? Is it possible that someone as astute as Old Mr. Jenson is unaware of the truth? If there are other underlying factors involved, the fact that Old Mr. Jenson didn’t disclose them even to his most trusted butler speaks volumes about the significance he attributed to this matter.

As she delved deeper into her thoughts, the questions at hand became increasingly apparent, particularly concerning Valentino’s position on the matter. This heightened her sense of suspicion.

“Mrs. Jenson? Mrs. Jenson?” Noticing her absent–mindedness, Logan called out to her multiple times, attempting to bring her back to the present.

Gwendolyn responded, “Yes?”

“Why did you suddenly become interested in knowing about Mr. Cedrick’s parents?” he asked.

Gwendolyn smiled lightly and responded in a calm voice, “Oh, it’s nothing. I just feel a bit upset that I never had the chance to meet my father–in–law and mother–in–law. I’m just a little curious about them, that’s all.”

“I see.” Logan nodded in understanding. “Mrs. Jenson, we’ve arrived at the entrance of the villa. Would you like to return to Harrick Villa or proceed to the garage to retrieve a car and leave?”

“I’ll go to the garage. There are still many matters to attend to at the company. But you don’t need to about me, Logan, I’m familiar with the nooks and crannies of the Jenson residence now. I won’t get lost,” she replied.

Logan remained silent as she preferred to be on her own. He bowed respectfully and watched her depart. “Take care, Mrs. Jenson, and stay safe”

Gwendolyn nodded slightly and made her way to the garage.

Logan stood at the entrance of the villa, watching her figure disappear around the corner before turning back to continue attending to Valentino.

Meanwhile, Neville was exceptionally efficient in hunting down his targets.

On the evening of that day, he apprehended Xander, who had been planning to secretly leave the borders of Chanaea in a cargo ship right at the pier.

Xander’s frail and thin physique was no match for the group of professional military–trained soldiers.

He could not outrun them on land and nearly drowned himself when he jumped into the sea.

In the end, it was Neville and his team who rescued him from the waters and handcuffed him.

In a state of despair, Xander cried out. “Cedrick is so heartless! Does he really want to destroy me? Can’t he just pretend he isn’t aware of what happened and let me go? Release me right now! Are you taking me back to the ancestral hall for a public flogging or sending me to a high–security prison? No! I refuse to go!!I demand to see Cedrick!”

Initially, Neville and the others paid no attention to his desperate cries.

Frustrated by Xander’s incessant noise, resembling the desperate cries of someone on their deathbed, Neville eventually swiftly tore off a strip of tape to seal his mouth. “Mr. Yael has been a recent guest at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, so Mr. Jenson would like to invite you to experience it too.”

Xander wondered if they planned to lock him up at the Federal Bureau of Investigation temporarily.

Soon, Xander ceased his struggles. As long as he could avoid a whipping or being confined to a high- security prison, he still held hope for a comeback. He believed that his confinement in the Federal Bureau of Investigation would last no more than a week.

However, reality proved that he had underestimated the situation.

Yael’s actions were not a significant offense, plus he was still an elder, so Cedrick permitted him to stay in a private cell. Although the confined space lacked amenities, he did not have to share a bathroom with others.

However, it was a different story for Xander. He was thrown into a space with over ten men; with no beds and only one shared bathroom.

Furthermore, all those individuals were convicts involved in serious crimes.

Xander was forcibly thrust into their midst. As the police officer threw him into the space, he grabbed the iron bars and shouted relentlessly, “I want to see Cedrick! Tell that brat to come see me!”

Despite refraining from using foul language, his haughty attitude mirrored that of a privileged youth sheltered from the harsh realities of life.

Irritated by his behavior, the police officer ignored him and coldly walked away after locking him inside. the cell.

“You stop right there!” Xander shrieked while gripping the iron bars, but the officer had left.

An eerie feeling crawled up his spine as if numerous pairs of eyes were watching him, making him feel. extremely uneasy.

He weakly turned his head, fixing his gaze on a corner of the wall before scanning the perimeter.

A crowd of men, varying in height, weight, and build, stood there, with dozens of pairs of eyes fixated on him.

Xander’s confidence waned instantly, as he had never been in such a place before.

A man beside him inquired, “Hey, you. What did you do to end up here?”

Xander clenched his fists, causing the handcuffs to rattle. “Cedrick Jenson did this to me. He wanted me dead, ignoring the fact that I’m his family.”

Those men had no connection to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, but everyone in Salinsburgh was familiar with the name Cedrick Jenson.

They all exchanged glances, expressing doubts about his words. “Who are you to him? Why would he want to harm you?”

“I’m his cousin. Cedrick resorted to all kinds of means to snatch power from my father, which led to his current position. And now, he wants to wipe out me and my father completely. He’s nothing more than a vile creature!” Xander boldly revealed his identity, hoping to assert his dominance among the group and perhaps find some allies during his time in confinement.

However, little did he know that the largest man in the room had a notorious reputation and held a significant grudge against the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

As soon as Xander finished speaking, the man swiftly approached him, grabbing his hair and forcefully slamming him against the cell door with a loud thud.

Xander let out a pained scream, unable to react in time. He felt as though he was about to be knocked unconscious.

The burly man, gripping his hair tightly, held him down and gnashed his teeth as he spoke. “Cedrick Jenson, in the previous crackdown, apprehended numerous of my men, including me. He’s my arch- enemy,”

Xander’s face wore an expression of bewilderment.

Struggling to articulate, he hurriedly distanced himself from Cedrick. “Why are you attacking me? It was Cedrick who harmed you, not me.”

Rather than releasing his grip, the burly man tightened it further, exerting so much force that it felt as if he could peel a layer of Xander’s scalp off. “I can’t deal with him because he’s powerful, but I can take revenge on his cousin to vent my frustrations!”

Xander was utterly stunned. What? I’m already locked up in here, and now I have to endure the revenge of Cedrick’s enemy?
