Will You Marry Me, Again

Chapter 61

hapter 61 1 Was Worried About You Cedric nodded.

“| promise. Now, could you please let me go? Let's just sit down and talk.” Why was he still holding her hands when they were just having a chat?

“You're learning fast.” Cedric teased.

She was getting better at identifying his loopholes. He eventually relented and let go of her. “Maia, you should try their fruitcake cookies.” Aiken quickly took the seat that was next to Maia.

Maia nodded. As she was about to reach for the cookies, Cedric grabbed one and tossed it into his mouth. Then he turned to her and instructed in a surly tone, “You can’t eat them.”

“They are my gifts. Why can’t | eat them?”

“There’s mango in them, and you're allergic to mangoes.”

Aiken immediately apologized. “I’m sorry, | didn’t know you had a mango allergy.” “Who told you that?” Maia refuted and grabbed a cookie.

Cedric stopped her by grabbing onto her wrist. “I know you’re just doing this to spite me, but you shouldn't joke around with your health.”

His frown deepened as he snatched the cookie out of her hand. Maia knew exactly what he meant. She bit her lower lip as she recalled being hospitalized from accidentally eating mangoes.

That day happened to be Cedric’s birthday. Zera had bought a mango cake for him. Maia knew very well about her allergy, yet she still ate a slice of the cake.

She did not want to be a burden because it was his cake. Besides, Zera and Rita would have made matters worse if she had refused to eat his birthday cake.

Maia could feel tears welling up in her eyes. She was pathetic. It was so important to her to find love and warmth that she was willing to give up her life for it.Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Soon after, the pleasant voice of a flight attendant sounded through the PA announcing that the plane would take off soon and the cabin lights would be turned off.

As the announcement ended, Cedric grabbed Maia’s hand again.

“Didn't we agree to sit still?

When they were kidnapped in their childhood, she would hide in his arms because the place where the idnappers kept them was always in darkness.

Mada was inuched by his words, but she chose to ignore this feeling.

“I'm no longer a child.” She refuted and struggled out of his grip

She turned to Aiken and asked, “Do you have your laptop?”

“Yes, | do.”

As the plane cruised to its altitude, the cabin lights were turned on again.

Aiken took out his laptop and passed it to Maia, “You're not planning to work, are you?”

“Of course! | haven't been back in a while. There are so many things | need to settle!

Aiken looked at her in amazement and said, “You're the most responsible CEO I’ve ever seen! Well done!” Maia just grinned brightly in return.

Cedric had a gloomy expression on his face. How could she talk to some other guy so casually? How could she smile at him? Cedric had never lost his cool like this. He was surprised at how easily she could influence his

emotions. However, she was worth it.

Maia connected Aiken’s laptop to the plane’s wifi and started to check the emails Buck had sent her. She was focused on her work when suddenly she felt a weight on her right shoulder.

She turned to her right and saw Cedric’s head on her shoulder. Aiken, who was on her left. noticed this as well. He signaled for Maia to move closer to him and use her other hand to move Cedric’s head away

Maia found Aiken's actions funny, as he did all this silently but with a rather expressive face. He was worthy of the Best Actor award.

As Maia was about to move Cedric’s head from her shoulder, he commented, “The patient needs his rest.” “Why must you lean onto me?” “You should take another look at your email.”

“What?” Mala asked in confusion.

“There’s a mistake in the financial report. The numbers don’t add up.

“I'm surprised that the famous Mr. Larkin would steal glances at other corporations’ information.”

“We're not strangers.” Cedric corrected. “You need to pay attention to your company’s financial status to build a good business.”

Mala knew that Cedric was a prodigy in his field, but she did not expect him to be able to see through her company’s problems so easily. Furthermore, all the numbers he had pointed out did not add up.

“Jordan isn’t coming back with you?” Cedric asked.

Maia’s attention was drawn to her finance report. Absent—mindedly, she revealed, “Nope, he wants to settle things back at Eldertown. He'll be back in a few days.

“It looks like the chief financial officer is back to settle his debt.”

She realized she had told Cedric everything. She wanted to smack herself on the head for letting her guard down. “Thank you for your advice, but you should mind your business.”

“Anything that has to do with you is my business.”

Maia was taken aback for a second before going back to checking her financial reports and acting like she did not hear him. Almost half of those reports had a problem.

She knew Buck had no experience in this field, so he would not have noticed anything wrong.

She hated to admit it, but Cedric was right. Starlight Entertainment's finances she had to do something about it.

It was already 10 p.m. when the plane touched down.

Numerous reporters were camped outside the airport, waiting for them. They were eager

to get a photo of all three of them. Cedric, Maia, and Aiken together would make the front page of any newspaper or magazine.
