Whispers Of Betrayal (Anastasia and Alastor)

Chapter 3

Chapter 3

She found herself grappling with a sense of impending doom, unsure about her next steps or how to approach her inevitable demise.

If she weren’t grappling with her illness and still had a long road ahead, Anastasia might have easily requested a divorce from Alastor without any hesitation. What was more, she would have willingly granted him the opportunity to be with his lover forever.

Unfortunately, she was approaching death.

As a result, she refused to allow herself to be deceived by Alastor any longer. She couldn’t tolerate the underhanded provocations from a woman lacking in morals.

Nevertheless, she had no intention of seeking vengeance on Alastor through any dishonorable means.

The most painful way to hurt someone was to strike where it hurt the most.

This sentiment was particularly true when dealing with individuals like Alastor and Felicia. In the end, it seemed fitting to reciprocate in kind the pain they had inflicted upon her.

That night. Anastasia took an unprecedented step and uploaded a post on Instagram. The caption read: [Beneath the vast expanse of the star–studded sky lies an immense ocean. I love the sea breeze, and I love you.]

The photo that she uploaded was one of herself and Alastor holding hands on the beach.

While her feet sank into the soft sand, Anastasia silently counted her steps, contemplating how much time would pass before Felicia grew irritated and reached out to Alastor in a fit of anger.

It only took ten steps. Anastasia only walked for ten steps before Alastor’s phone rang.

Sure enough, the caller was none other than Felicia.

“You agreed to make it up to me today. Can’t you take a break from work?” Anastasia never acted cute to Alastor, but today,

she did.

It was clear that Alastor was momentarily stunned After that, he laughed and asked, “Are you acting cute. Annie

Anastasia, too, was taken aback. She lowered her head and smiled faintly.

Alastor reached out and held Anastasia’s chun, lowering his head to kiss her Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

Perhaps throughout their four years of marriage, their affection for each other had always remained mundane, and this was the first time Anastasia acted cute with him. Hence, Alastor felt his heart race.

He even forgot to answer the phone.

When the call came through for the second time, Anastasia deliberately asked, ‘Is it something important?”

Alastor glanced at his phone, frowned, and replied. “It’s nothing. It’s just an irrelevant person”

Upon hearing what he said. Anastasia smirked sarcastically and mused. “Will he also say that my phone calls are from an irrelevant person when he’s in Felicia’s bed? Men truly are amusing creatures. They want everything for themselves, even when they already have enough.”

Anastasia knew Alastor well. He would not risk getting a divorce for the time being.

After all, she had been his partner at all the business gatherings for the past four years. He had also built a reputation as a good man and husband. If Alastor wanted a divorce, things would become complicated.

Clearly. Felicia also sensed the threat and hence was eager to engage in a battle of wits with Anastasia, hoping to push her into initiating a divorce.

Had she been in good health, Anastasia wouldn’t have spared the time to indulge in this futile competition with Felicia over a despicable man.

Alas, she was dying, and her life before death had been too mundane.

“Alastor, we’ve been married for four years. Do you love me?” Anastasia asked as they stood by the seaside, the sea breeze blowing at her.

Alastor took off his coat and draped it over Anastasia. “We’re husband and wife.”

He never answered that question directly.

A wife was not necessarily a lover.

Soon, Felicia, unable to get a hold of Alastor, sent a text message to Anastasia’s WhatsApp, causing her phone to emit a

chime.

Felicia was brazen Her message read: [Get Alastor to answer my call]

After perusing the text, Anastasia gazed at Alastor, her confusion evident in her expression. “Alastor, Felicia is your secretary, correct? Is there anything urgent?”

“It might be a company matter. It’s quite windy here. I’ll head to the car to make the call,” Alastor responded with a furrowed brow His demeanor shifted slightly upon hearing her remark

Anastasia nodded and sat quietly on the beach.

In the car. Alastor spoke to Felicia on the phone. Anastasia did not know what they talked about, but his expression was gloomy when he returned.

“It’s getting windier. Let’s go back”

Anastasia nodded, trying to appear even more obedient.

Her intention was to create a stark contrast to Felicia’s arrogance, hoping that Alastor would perceive her as distinct from Felicia

Surprisingly. Alastor explained. “The company has some urgent matters, so I’ll have to work overtime tonight”

In response. Anastasia tenderly embraced Alastor. “Work is important, but don’t push yourself too hard. I’ll prepare a delicious meal and send it to you tomorro morning” she assured him

“Okay” Alastor responded. He wanted to refuse, but Anastasia’s sensibility and gentleness left him with no choice.

During the journey back, Anastasia maintained a serene silence, her gaze fixed outside the car window, resembling a picturesque figure.

At the time, Alastor had opted to marry Anastasia due to her beauty aligning with his expectations.

“I’ll make it up to you another day. After dropping Anastasia at home, Alastor drove away in a hurry.

Fully aware that Felicia must have manipulated him with tears and drama, Anastasia couldn’t help but let out a rueful chuckle, her eyes welling up with tears.

In a marriage, the sensible individual often would not emerge as the victor.

Felicia likely believed she had triumphed once again. After all, in the battle between Anastasia and Felicia, Alastor had once more chosen the latter.

Anastasia took a deep breath and went back to her room to pack up.

She needed to leave for a while.

It had been four years, and Alastor had grown accustomed to her presence.

Ding!

Shortly afterward, Felicia sent another message.

Anastasia had a hunch that Felicia intended to provoke her.

Sure enough, the message contained a photo of Alastor’s car parked downstairs, accompanied by the caption: [The sea and stars might be yours, but Alastor is mine.]

However, Anastasia did not reply, pretending she did not see the message.

In a confrontation between two opposing forces, maintaining composure could lead the adversary to lose their composure and reveal vulnerabilities.

Regardless of Felicia’s efforts, she would still remain a shameful mistress, whereas Anastasia held the rightful position as the lawful wife.
