Chapter 24 How Ridiculous
Chapter 24 How Ridiculous
After that night, Darren's company was suddenly under investigation. It was rumoured in their circle
that Eduard did it for her.
As soon as Isobel got out of the elevator, she saw Eduard standing at the door.
She froze for a moment then walked over with the box in her arms. "Why are you here?"
She finished her transitions and officially resigned today.
Eduard reached out and took the box from her hands. "Congratulations, it's a vacation time."
Isobel smiled. "This vacation might be a long one."
He raised an eyebrow and held the box with one hand and the umbrella with the other. "Have you
received Martha's invitation?"
It rained suddenly this morning and until now, it didn’t stop.
Isobel followed him into the rain. Remembering what Martha said yesterday, she zoned out a bit. "I
received it."
"Then are you going tonight?"
Tonight, it was Martha’s birthday party in Sunset Aegis Motel. Isobel shouldn’t have been invited, but
Martha personally gave her the invitation because of Hamish.
She and Martha weren’t on friendly terms since university. After she had been with Hamish for three
years, Martha probably hated her to death.
But in those three years, she didn't steal or rob him. How could Martha blame her when the former was
the useless one? Remembering Darren cutting her shirt that night, Isobel curled her lips with a smile.
"Hospitality is hard to resist."
Not only was she going to go, but she was also going to make Martha regret inviting her tonight.
How could Martha think that she could be easily bullied just because Hamish didn't care about her
anymore? If so, then Martha was too naïve because since her childhood she had never been bullied
this way! If she didn’t get back at Martha for this, she wouldn’t be able to rest in peace even if she died!
Eduard tilted his head and glanced at her. "True."
He opened the door and gestured Isobel to get into the car.
"Thank you."
She didn’t refuse him. Eduard helped her a lot during this time. It was also thanks to him that she was
able to resign so quickly.
Isobel didn't like owing favours. But the past couple of times, except Eduard, she didn't know who she
could reach out to for help.
She once thought that as long as Hamish was there, no one could hurt her.
But now, the person who wanted to hurt her was Hamish's fiancée.
How ridiculous.
He fastened his seat belt and turned to look at her. "Do you want to go there now?"
"I want to eat something first."
She was afraid that she would have no appetite later.
"Okay."
The car started slowly. Isobel remembered what Yasmin had asked herself today. She turned to look at
Eduard, who was driving, and couldn't help but frown slightly. "Were you the one who had someone
report Darren?"
When Eduard heard her, he turned and glanced at her. He pursed his lips and was silent for a while
before he said, "Although I also had this idea in mind, I didn’t do it."
Isobel didn't speak any more. Since it wasn't Eduard, she didn't care who it was.
There was a red light ahead. Eduard looked at her from the side. It seemed that Isobel was very quiet
these past few days.
What happened to Darren had nothing to do with him, but he heard that Hamish had someone do it.
But when he thought of what Isobel said in the car that night, Eduard didn't say anything. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
The light turned green. Moving his eyes away from her, he restarted the car, and drove
forward.
