Unveiling the Genius Behind the Divorcee

Chapter 230

Chapter 230

Chapter 230 Revealing Her Hidden Identity

Once again, Waylon was chased out of the study by Zoey. Just then, he received a call from Gavyn, who mentioned drinking. Confused, Waylon raised three imaginary question marks above his head. and took the phone away from his ear to glance at it.

This is Gavyn’s number, right?

“Are you really here now?”

“I’ve set the usual spot, so cut the chatter.”

Gavyn’s cold voice came through the phone, and one could hear the emotional suppression in it.

Waylon clicked his tongue.

If it were anyone else who approached him about this matter, he wouldn’t be so surprised. But the key point is that it’s Gavyn. He has known Gavyn for over 20 years, and Gavyn has always been steady and self-disciplined, never indulging in alcohol or lustful pursuits.

What’s going on today?

However, Waylon didn’t refuse. He thought it would be a good opportunity to discuss the possibility of collaboration. “Alright, I’ll change my clothes and head out. When you arrive, just wait for me for a bit.”

After hanging up the phone, Waylon casually grabbed a handful of his messy hair, which had been tousled while playing with Zoey. He then changed into a casual leather jacket suitable for a night of drinking and hurried to his usual spot.

That is a 24-hour bar.

The moment Waylon opened the private room, he was astonished.

In the private room, tranquil music flowed like a gentle stream, while two rows of drinks were neatly arranged on the table, their presence striking even from a distance under the hazy lighting.

Waylon’s brow twitched slightly.

“Damn, is this a go-big-or-go-home party? I didn’t bring any stomach medicine today.”

Gavyn didn’t respond. Instead, he downed another glass of icy whiskey. After finishing it without a change in expression, he reached out and poured himself another.

Waylon was taken aback as the waiter opened the wine but seemed unwilling to leave. Instead, he kept asking, “Sir, Is there anything else I can help you with?”

It’s obvious that people admire Gavyn for his good looks, wealth, and creativity.

Unfortunately, the waiter only noticed Gavyn’s handsome and imposing appearance, failing to see the deep, turbulent waves hidden within his dark eyes.

“Alright, you can leave now. We’ll call you if we need anything.” Waylon frowned and waved his hand, allowing the clueless waiter to save face.

The waiter reluctantly left, and the private room became quiet.

Waylon sat down on the couch, propping up his legs, and easily reached for a glass of wine. “Gavyn, something’s off with you. What’s going on? Why did you ask me to come out for a drink in broad daylight, and you’re wearing such a sour expression?”

Gavyn didn’t respond, he just kept pouring himself drink after drink.

“Damn, that’s whiskey, not water!” Waylon couldn’t stand it anymore and grabbed his hand. “Alright, you don’t have to say it. I know it’s because of Aylin, right?”

Gavyn didn’t deny it. After a moment of silence, he suddenly blurted out, “She has amnesia.”

Waylon didn’t quite understand what it meant. “What… what is this?”

Gavyn gazed at the crystal-clear liquor in his hand, his voice deep and somber. “Three years ago, there was an explosion on the cruise ship Aylin was taking to return home. She miraculously survived, but was left with amnesia as a consequence.”

“So, what happened next?”

“And then, he lost his memory.”

Waylon gasped and widened his eyes, taking a moment to regain his composure.

“Did you look all this up? Goodness gracious, no wonder she’s changed so much, it turns out she has amnesia…”

Gavyn’s dark eyes were filled with gloom as he tugged at his disheveled shirt collar, his tone carrying a hint of annoyance that he himself didn’t notice. “So, she didn’t deceive me. She didn’t betray me, nor did she approach me with an ulterior motive. She…”

Gavyn couldn’t continue speaking.

Waylon’s face crinkled in distress as he listened, unsure whether he should scold his best friend or laugh at him for deserving Aylin’s cold gaze.

Which innocent girl can bear to listen to herself being slandered?

I told you it was ridiculous to suspect her of cheating during her marriage, and now you’re still questioning her after the divorce. As her best friend, I can’t stand by and watch this.”

Gavyn quietly poured himself another drink.

As Gavyn took a fiery sip of alcohol, he couldn’t help but notice how bitter today’s whiskey tasted, making his tongue go numb.

“Well, now that you know, the misunderstanding is cleared up, isn’t it great that she didn’t cheat on you during your marriage? Why are you still looking so down today?” Waylon asked, puzzled.

Gavyn sneered mockingly, “She’ll betray us soon enough.”

Waylon was taken aback, “Huh?”

“She and that Orozco boy toy are so close, who knows how intimate they are!”

Recalling the intimate gestures these two made in front of him as if no one else was around, Gavyn felt as if a heavy stone was pressing down on his heart.

“I helped her deal with the rumor-spreading Sebastian and acquired Vertex Entertainment for her. But instead of showing gratitude, she scolded me without knowing the whole story, claiming it was Ryker’s doing!

Did she even consider checking if that boy toy is really that capable?”

Gavyn’s knuckles tightened around the wine glass, and then he slammed it down on the table with a resounding thud. Wine splashed out of the glass, creating a small puddle.

Waylon jumped in surprise, his expression a mix of emotions.

Over the years he had known Gavyn, he had never seen him so devoted to a woman before. Aylin was truly the first.

Somehow, this woman had already become his ex-wife.

She was once his devoted and loving wife, gentle and virtuous. Yet, he had coldly neglected her for three years, breaking her heart and causing her to leave.

He tutted.

Waylon crossed his arms and looked at Gavyn, “Well, don’t you deserve this? It’s your own fault for not cherishing her in the first place. Besides, she’s so beautiful and capable. Isn’t it normal for someone like Ryker to be attracted to her?

If you were still her husband, there might be room for discussion, but she would have divorced you long ago, Gavyn. As an ex-husband, what’s there to be unhappy about?” Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Gavyn gave him a cold glance, and Waylon, sensing the mood, wiped his nose and sat up straight, wisely choosing not to finish his potentially hurtful remark.

Come on, isn’t it just me and Ryker? Don’t you have confidence in us?

She’s attracted more than just the two of you!”

Gavyn tugged at his lips, revealing a cold smile as he spoke about the man he encountered last time at the Koch’s house. “That man called her ‘Ayl’, and there was also the hacker I met when I infiltrated the Koch Group’s data system. These are just the men I know of; who knows how many more there are that I don’t know about!”

Waylon choked on his drink and immediately started coughing.

“Hey Gavyn, have you ever considered the possibility that the hacker expert you mentioned might not necessarily be a guy?”

Gavyn’s hand paused, and his sharp gaze swept over, “What do “What do you mean?”

Waylon coughed.

Oh no, I accidentally spilled the beans.

But now, seeing his best friend’s clueless expression, as if being kept in the dark, he couldn’t help but feel an itch to spill the secret. Knowing the secret all by himself was just too unbearable.

Taking a deep breath, he looked straight at Gavyn, “Gavyn, let me be frank with you. The day you hacked into the Koch Group’s system, there was no man helping her. That hacker mastermind was her herself!”
