Chapter 7 Beaten Up & Humiliated

"what!"

Sett's face was drained of color as he heard his sister's frantic voice and the sound of something breaking in the background, being mixed with the shouts of men.

Damn it! Sett cursed as he gritted his teeth in anger.

They better pray that his sister and the others are alright! He knew that the masterminds behind this were his aunt and uncle. He always hated them to the core, as they were quite sadistic.

The Crossword main house had already confiscated his parents' properties, and the only thing they had left was the old, dilapidated mansion.

Nonetheless, they keep insisting on selling the old mansion! They were just too much.

Sett let out a breath with a worried expression on his face.

"Ms.Scarlett, ask your men to hurry up! I'm worried that something may have happened to my sister.I won't be able to forgive myself."

Ms.Scarlett nodded to assure Sett as she commanded the driver to pick up speed.Sett anxiously gazes at the faraway hill.

They were getting close to his house, yet the wait felt like a century.

Suddenly, Sett flinched as Ms.Scarlett tapped his shoulders.

"Mr.Crow, I know your Aunt Claire. At one point, I saw her attending the Laker family party. We managed to dig up some information about her.If she's the one sending those men to trash your home...You have

to be careful."

Ms.Scarlett hesitated as she was saying that. She wanted to tell Sett that she suspected that his Aunt Claire and Uncle Tom had something to do with his parents' having an accident, but she feared that Sett still lacked trust in her.

After all, it wasn't long before they had met.

Without evidence, her words would merely fall flat on the ground, or worse, it would put a strain on their relationship.

Upon hearing that, Sett felt troubled.

Ms.Scarlett was right. He had to be especially cautious around his snobbish aunt, Claire. She was the type of lady who had a sharp tongue and probably wouldn't hesitate to murder a family member...

However, Sett was still holding on to the fact that blood is thicker than water.Or maybe he was being too naive?

"Thank you for the warning, Ms.Scarlett."Sett bowed his head at her.He was grateful that she really cared for him.Ms.Scarlett's face flushed. It was at this moment that the car came to a grinding halt.

"We've arrived at your house...Mr.Crow, are you sure you wouldn't want our help? If you'd like, I can arrange a few bodyguards at your house." Ms. Scarlett was apprehensive that something might happen to Sett.

"There's no need for that. I can take care of my own problems."

Sett refused to accept help from others because this was a family matter and he didn't want outsiders prying into his problems.

"No? That's too bad then, but if you are in any trouble, feel free to contact me, Mr.Crow.If there's nothing more, farewell."

Ms.Scarlett forced a smile, but she looked somewhat disappointed.

Ms.Scarlett pushed the briefcase into Sett's hands, and after they left, Sett scratched his head while holding onto the heavy briefcase.

Actually, he had no idea what it was for, but regardless, he knew that it was important.Sett waited for the Rolls-Royce to move far away until he couldn't see it anymore.

Finally, he could let out a breath.

Although he badly needed Ms.

Scarlett's assistance, he couldn't bring himself to completely trust them yet.

As a result, he declined her offer. It was late at night and he was now bolting forward while dragging a Suitcase.

"Why is this so heavy? Should I just leave it here? But what if it's something important."

Sett walked a couple of blocks away.

When he noticed the battered gate, he frowned. He was sure that the gate was fine when he left early in the morning.

‘It looked like Aunt Clare's men had forcefully opened the gate." Sett murmured under his breath.

How else would it end up like that if it weren't forcefully opened? Surprisingly...

"Get out of the way, you brat!"

An angry shout was followed by a collision as the gate was uprooted.

What the H***! Who is in their right mind to drive a car without turning on the lights? He was nearly overrun.

Luckily, he managed to see the pick- up car heading in his direction, or else he would end up crippled if he was hit, or worse, he would die directly right here and now!

"You should be counting your lucky stars, Fatso!"

The burly man in the pick-up car had a foul mouth as he kept yelling at Sett.

"Who are you guys?"

Sett took a deep breath, finally calming himself.

There was no use in fighting them.He understood that these men were deliberately provoking him so they would have a reason to whack him up.

"What are you doing here? This is my father's house! It's outside the property of the Crossword family...You guys must be Aunt Claire's men.Looking at your faces, am I right? If you don't get out of my family house, I'll call the cops!"

Sett said that, as things were getting out of hand.

Unfortunately, Sett had greatly misjudged their shamelessness.

"Call the cops, really?"

The burly man yanked the suitcase out of Sett's hand and made fun of him.He said, mockingly.

"Not so stuff, are we?"

It didn't end there, as the burly man proceeded to humiliate him by grabbing his shirt and trying to undress him.Sett had to fight back or else he would have to walk butt naked. It was simply unthinkable that he was being beaten up just outside his parents' house! For f*cks' sake, enough is enough.

Sett was about to jump at the burly man to fight him to death either by tooth or nail.

Just then, the pudgy man with short legs got out of the truck.

"Hey, Brother, relax, relax, there's no need to go that far."

The pudgy man was trying to meditate on the tense situation.

"My name is Abner Newton, and this is my brother Croc Newton, young master Sett."

The pudgy man, Abner, pointed at the bulky man, who was continuing to speak.

"It's not that we want to create trouble for your family, it's just that we forget that it was you young master Sett!"

Abner put on an innocent face as he grinned.

"By the way, young master, If I remember correctly, your grandfather's eighty-year birthday is coming.Your aunt Claire had bought an expensive piece of jewelry across the main avenue.Tsk, tsk, surely the madam will gain the family head's favor.But..."

He scrutinized Sett up and down.

"What about you, young master? What would you gift to the family head?"

"It's none of your business."

Sett gritted his teeth as he adjusted his shirt while picking up the suitcase. He helplessly proceeds to hike, stepping on the aged and cold pavement. He narrowed his eyes as he saw a large mansion from afar.

It was his parents' house.

Although it was old and looked somewhat abandoned because it was made by an impressive architectural firm, its majestic design and ambiance still remain.

"Wait!"

Abner Newton hurriedly ran in front of Sett, blocking his path.

Sett gazed coldly at him.He was slowly losing his patients.

"Get out of the way."

"Young Master Sett, it would be very shameful if you didn't bring anything!"

Abner Newton said smugly.

As much as Sett hated Abner's words, what he said was right.

However, his next remarks made him boil with anger.

"You see, young master, in order not to lose face, why don't you call your wife Sheila Laurel? After all, she came from the wealthy family of Laurel, so there's no doubt she's loaded! It's easy for her to buy you some jewelry. In that case, you'll receive your grandfather's favor!"

Abner blurted out, then snickered while rubbing his juggling belly.

Instantly, Sett's face sank.

His wife had nothing to do with this and now these morons are bringing it up? His aunt Claire was clearly using this tactic to force his hand, and if he didn't go to his grandfather's birthday, his aunt would find another way to pull some strings to urge him out.

‘So, Aunt Claire is hell-bent on getting my father's inheritance? No, that shouldn't be the case. There must be something more she's cooking up......Does it have something to do with the Laurel family? Considering she had some dealings with their businesses.."

Thinking from here, Sett shook his head.

"Also, the elders besides selling the old mansion had considered gifting the mansion as compensation for Ms.Laurel.I've got to say that it's only right since she married a useless young master like you!"

Abner's words become increasingly venomous.

They returned to their truck, and while moving their lips, sent a silent message: 'Goodbye, young master, pig~"

That was the message, as he gave Sett a final smirk.

Sett stayed silent throughout, as he waited for a couple of seconds before he couldn't see the pick-up truck outline anymore.

Slowly, Sett's face turned cold, he wanted to just swallow his pride and dial Jane Scarlett and ask her a favor to take care of those bastards, but in the end, he hesitated. He started pacing toward the old mansion with a heavy heart.

At this very moment, what Sett didn't know was that Ms.

Scarlett's men had long been guarding the entrance gate.

The Rolls-Royce was even blocking the road to prevent anyone from coming near the place.

Ms.Scarlett was meticulous in dealing with enemies, and she wouldn't let those who threatened Sett go unpunished.

Disgracing I the sole heir of the Crow family? Those moles must be sick of seeing the sun.

The fifty black-suited bodyguards were surrounding two badly beaten middle-aged men.

They kept begging while sprawled on the ground as their heads were yanked up to face Ms.

Scarlett, who was looking coldly at them.

"T-This is a misunderstanding! This is all a misunderstanding! We don't even know whose Mr.Crow is!"

Abner stuttered, with his battered mouth.

As they begged the men in black to release them.

At this time, Abner and Croc were dumbfounded.

They had no notion of who they had offended or who these men in black were.

Initially, they were in a good mood, but when they were at the exit, the side of the pick-up truck was abruptly rammed.

Without saying much, those men in black started beating them to a pulp.

Before he knew it, he was badly injured.

While sprawling, Abner uttered a profanity at the top of his lungs.

"F*cking B*tch! I'l] kill yo-"

Suddenly, a red high heel pressed against Abner's neck, choking his life out.Watch your mouth, or one day you'll pay more than a beating."

Ms.Scarlett's frigid voice was like the harbinger of death.

"No one dares harm the young Lord of the Crow Family!"

Abner almost passed out because the sharp edge of the high heel was infinitely close to his eyes.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
