Chapter 570
Chapter 570
Bernard sat at his desk in the eastern wing, sifting through the emails he had received.
Sitting opposite him, Douglas stared intently at his laptop screen, watching the surveillance footage closely as it played.
The footage was taken from the entrance south of Stoneworth Park facing the lockers. It was rewound so that he could see what happened before Hera went there.
Douglas wanted to find out who placed the item in Locker 9.
"Bernard, I found it,' said Douglas, pausing the footage. He showed Bernard the screen and said, "But the guy disguised himself too well.'
Even so, they could still make out that it was the figure of a man and not a woman.
"It was a man!" Bernard thought to himself. He set the video to its original speed and saw that the man in black in the video placed a letter into the locker and took a photo of it before leaving. The entire process lasted no more than a minute.
Bernard replayed the scene several times. Douglas thought that Bernard was trying to figure out the man's identity by analyzing his build and movements.
A moment later, Bernard asked, 'Do you think it's a love letter?"
Douglas, who was drinking some water, choked on the drink. What kind of man would disguise himself like that and go to a park to send out a love letter?
Bernard had always been an intelligent person, but the gears in his mind seemed to have rusted a little ever since he got into a relationship. His thoughts became especially illogical when it came to Hera.
Douglas had lost count of how many men's backgrounds he had looked into just because they interacted with Hera. Bernard would always tell him, "I want to know everything about him."
Just a simple order from Bernard was all it took, and Douglas would end up working his arse off investigating some random guy.
At that moment, Douglas didn't feel like carrying on with the investigation anymore. Stoneworth Park was huge, so there were more than a hundred surveillance cameras there.
If he had to check all the surveillance footage to find out who that man in black was, he'd become blind from staring at the screen all day.
He had lots of other important and serious work to do!
An idea popped into his head, and he said, 'No. Love letters are usually kept in pink or red envelopes. The one in the video is white. It definitely isn't a love letter. What he wrote doesn't matter because he has no chance of even getting close to Ms. Youngworth. You two are already together."
The trick seemed to work because Bernard nodded, looking pleased. "That's reasonable."
Douglas sighed in relief upon hearing that. But his happiness was short-lived because Bernard added, "I want every piece of information you can get about him in 42 hours. Who does he think he is? How dare he try to get close to my woman?'
Douglas was flabbergasted. Gosh! Why was Bernard so possessive of Hera?
Just then, Hera knocked on the door and walked into the room.
Bernard shot Douglas a look, and Douglas left quickly.
"Bernard, is Johnson free lately?" Hera asked once Douglas left.
She remembered that before she returned, it was Johnson who was in charge of Bernard's condition. He seldom showed up after she took over.Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
While recruiting for the position of herbalist last week, Hera received his resume. He probably submitted it for
fun, but Bernard took it away from her.
"Why are you asking about him so suddenly?' Bernard asked, suspicious.
He had sent Johnson to hone his skills overseas. His focus of the study was on nyctophobia.
When Hera's nyctophobia was activated, her body's response to darkness was too abnormal. It wasn't how an ordinary person with nyctophobia would react. Even Hera herself wasn't aware of this.
If someone with ill intentions took advantage of this, the consequences would be dire. Therefore, the fewer people who knew about it, the better it was for Hera
Johnson was the only person Bernard could trust to find a cure for Hera's condition.
"Can I perhaps borrow him for a day or two if he isn't too busy?" asked Hera.
