Under the Heiress' Facade

Chapter 568

Bernard chuckled, realizing that Hera was not saying a word. "Not telling me? That's okay. Even if you don't tell me anything, I can still find out." He was an attractive man who looked extremely charming whenever he smiled. But for some reason, Hera felt chilly.

Then, she heard him continue coldly, "If it's some bastard, I'll break his legs. We'll see whether he dares to kidnap you again."

Hera was speechless. He was threatening her.

"Go ahead. Remember to let me know once you've found out who he is." Hera patted Bernard on the chest before turning to leave. Surliness flashed through Bernard's eyes. He glanced back, seemingly to check on something before catching up with Hera.

After returning to the study in the courtyard house, Hera used her laptop to load the website mentioned in the letter once more. She could not deny that Xavier was a very cautious man. The password hint had been changed to another advanced math question.

Hera solved the question again before keying in the password. She clicked open the first folder, only to discover that only three photos remained. She remembered that there were more than ten photos when she was at the park. Yet there were only three left.

Hera wondered if a different password meant seeing different photos or...

While Hera was still in shock, she watched a photo disappear before her eyes. She finally understood that Xavier was deleting the photos.

Hera immediately downloaded the other two photos to her laptop before quickly opening a code program. Her fingers flew across the keyboard as she typed.

...

On the other hand, Xavier was in a

a

deserted men's washroom at Stoneworth Park. He wore a baseball cap and a black mask. While seated on the toilet lid with: laptop on his lap, he counted- down the time, slowly deleting the photos from the website one by one.

Suddenly, the firewall on his laptop alerted him to an intrusion.

His heart skipped a beat. Aside from his mobile hotspot, his laptop had never connected to any otherwork. He had not even used

Bluetooth before. Most of the time,

the laptop was usually off, sono one should have discovered him.

Xavier immediately switched off his mobile hotspot to cut off thework, causing the firewall alert to cease right away.

He shut his laptop and put it away into his backpack. After putting on his sunglasses and pulling his cap lower, he left the washroom.

Meanwhile, Hera looked at the

notification of her failed intrusion attempt with narrowed eyes. If Xavier was being so cautious, why did he intentionally share the photos with her? The only reason she could think of was that he wanted her to investigate as well.

After all, the two of them were the victims of the incident years ago, although Hera wasn't related to the Killian family now.

Hera returned to the website and clicked on the remaining two photos. They were marked photos of where Greg was found dead 12 years ago. The photos were taken from printed pictures instead of the original files.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

Although the photo quality wasn't clear, Hera recognized the background as Daisy Courtyard's hall, where she used to play hide and seek with Lucius, Daphne, and Bernard all the time as a child.

After the murder that year, Daisy Courtyard was sealed off. The courtyard remained closed even after Hera left the Killians. She had no idea what the place looked like now.

These photos were very important to Hera. Lucius' case files couldn't be retrieved, and the evidence Daphne had collected disappeared after her death as well.

Xavier must have known something and even had other evidence on hand. Perhaps acting dumb was the only way for him to remain at the Killian residence and continue his investigation.

Hera had to find a way to meet with Xavier again. She returned to the page and realized that the second folder was still there. She clicked it open and saw a photo there as well.
