Chapter 402
Chapter 402
Rose nodded, “Sure, if you’re swamped, just give me a holler. I’m no stranger to this gig. All this stuff is a piece of cake for me.”
“I can’t let you do my job. You’ll get in hot water with the butler! But I know your heart is in the right place. But thanks!” Clara said, with a bitter smile tugging at her
lips.
Emmett was clearly trying to make her squirm. If Rose helped her then, it would have been a slap in the face for him!
As a mere maid, Rose could hardly stand up to Emmett’s backlash.
She didn’t want to drag anyone into that, be it Elio or Rose standing before her. If being a maid could put out the fire in Emmett’s heart, then she would just suck it

Master bedroom.
Emmett was glued to the screen, his brows knitted together. On the screen, Clara was doing the laundry.
She was obviously worn out, wiping the sweat off her forehead from time to time.
And outside the door, a pile of laundry was still waiting for her, with the butler delivering more.
That was a job that was too much for one person. But the butler had made her do it on purpose.

So, she thought she was all that, huh? She didn’t want to be Mrs. Melendez at home, so she deserved to do that sort of work.
He wanted to make her suffer. However, seeing her small figure working so hard, he didn’t feel any satisfaction from his revenge.
Suddenly, Emmett grabbed the remote and switched off the surveillance.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
Emmett frowned, “Come in.”
The door was pushed open, and Matt said in a low voice, “Mr. Melendez, Mrs. Sophia and Leah have returned.”
“Leah?”
Emmett’s eyes flashed with irritation. He knew what his mother was up to, but he couldn’t accept another woman at that time.
No, he couldn’t even accept Clara. He felt sick.
Matt continued, “And Mrs. Sophia asked me to tell you that she would like you to join her for dinner. She will be cooking.”
Emmett was about to refuse.
But then, an image flashed in his mind.
He paused for a moment, then surprisingly nodded, “I understand. Tell her I’ll be there. And have Clara serve dinner tonight.”
Matt was a bit surprised but nodded quickly, “I understand, Mr. Melendez.”
He turned to leave, closing the door behind him.
Emmett turned to look out the window, his eyes narrowing slightly.
“Clara, I’m going show you what happens when you cross me. You can forget about you and Elio! I won’t let you two off the hook!”
Elio rushed to Clara’s place.
When he opened the door, the place was empty!
Apparently, Clara had been taken away.
He raced to Emmett’s place but was stopped at the gate by a guard, who said, “I’m sorry, sir. You can’t go in.”
“I need to see Emmett!”
The guard gave him a once-over and asked, “Do you have an appointment?”
“No, just tell him Elio wants to see him.”
“I’m sorry, but this is the Melendez family residence. If you have any official business with Mr. Melendez, please deal with it at the company. I can’t just let strangers in. If Mr. Melendez is aware of your arrival, he will personally send someone to the gate to meet you.”
Elio clenched his fists and asked, “Didn’t you hear me? I told you to inform him!” This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
The guard didn’t budge and replied, “If Mr. Melendez invited you, you should give him a call. We can’t pass on your message.
