Chapter 53
Chapter 53
Izabella breathed a sigh of relief when things quieted down outside her door. Now she knew that Brett must have gone to Kaley's room. Good thing Kaley's room was far away, otherwise, she'd have to listen to things that she shouldn't have.
With Brett gone, Izabella should have been able to sleep peacefully tonight. But she found that she just couldn't fall asleep. Her body ached everywhere and her head was uncomfortable. She got up and rummaged through her drawer to find a bottle of sleeping pills. She took two and dozed off.
Brett woke up pretty early, but when he went downstairs, he found that someone else had gotten up even earlier. The tantalizing aroma of breakfast greeted him as he walked into the dining room.
The kitchen door was a frosted sliding door. Although it was closed, he could still see a blurry figure inside.
Seeing the person in the kitchen made him feel a warmth that spread through his body, soothing every organ. Brett didn't enter the kitchen right away, but stood outside and watched the busy figure inside.
Suddenly, the door opened, and Brett found himself staring at the person inside, blurting out in surprise, "How come it's you?"
Kaley was also taken aback for a moment, but quickly realized that Brett had mistaken her for Izabella.
"I was worried that the breakfast Izabella made wouldn't suit your taste, so I decided to get up and do it myself..."
Brett realized his mistake too and felt a bit awkward and annoyed. He couldn't understand why he would mistake Kaley for Izabella recently.
With a hum, he diverted the topic with an uneasy gaze into the kitchen, "What delicious food are you making for breakfast?"
"Sandwiches and hot milk. Let me bring them out."
As Kaley turned to get the hot milk, Brett went inside and said, "Be careful, it's hot. Let me carry it. Stand back so you don't get burned."
Brett always showed gentleness and affection towards Kaley, while the malicious, vicious sides of him were reserved only for Izabella.
Kaley had prepared breakfast for just the two of them. Glancing upstairs, she asked, "Should we call Izabella down for breakfast?"
"No need, she's still sleeping," Brett replied blankly. "We don't need to mention her when we're together. It'll make you feel uncomfortable."
Kaley had a gentle nature, and since the two of them had grown up together, they had a close relationship. Brett did like Kaley, and he wanted to be kind and gentle to her.
The only flaw in their romance was that he had no physical desire for her.
Brett initially thought he might be asexual, but then he met Izabella, an exception in his life.
She was like a captivating succubus whose every glimpse and smile captured his heart. She broke through the tightly closed barriers within him, and he couldn't resist her pull.
Brett felt guilty and owed Kaley, so he would try his best to please her.
The two of them could get along easily, enjoying their time together. Kaley wished Izabella could see the two of them like this.
Brett got a call from work and had to leave. As he walked out the door, Kaley hurriedly handed him an umbrella. "The weather's bad lately, take an umbrella with you."
As she said this, her eyes were fixed on Brett, full of warmth and love. NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
Kaley couldn't compete with Izabella in terms of appearance, but her eyes were beautiful - in fact, if one looked closely, they resembled Izabella's eyes.
"Alright," Brett took the umbrella and left.
Kaley stood at the door, watching him go. Her right hand clenched around her neck, gradually tightening as the grip increased, leaving red marks on her neck.
Izabella, on the other hand, woke up because she was hungry. She got up, stretched out her legs, and skillfully ordered some breakfast on her phone.
After freshening up, she went downstairs and heard the TV in the living room, only then did she remember that Kaley was now living in the house with her.
Kaley saw Izabella coming down and showed a faint, ambiguous smile. "Izabella, did you sleep well last night?"
