Chapter 2230
Chapter 2230
At that point, Sylvia suddenly understood one thing. Her parents were not inviting Claudia because of her, it was because of Sebastian.
She gazed at them, then smiled meaningfully. "Don't worry. I won't tell him about this."
Both Heinz and Grace saw the eagerness in her eyes.
Grace was stunned for a bit. It seemed like Sylvia had realized their plans.
Fortunately, Sylvia did not say anything.
Grace secretly breathed a sigh of relief and gave Sylvia a look of praise.
"Good girl."
Sylvia left quickly. When she got back to her room, she called Claudia and invited her over on another day.
Thus, the dinner was rescheduled to the day after.
On one hand, Sebastian probably would not go out if they set it during dinner time. Moreover, they would have more time at night, and Claudia could stay longer.
After setting the date with Claudia, Sylvia started looking forward to it.
She did not expect that Claudia would still come over for dinner. At the same time, she really admired Claudia for being able to be reasonable and rational.
The next day, Sebastian went out at noon.
He did not return home until eight or nine o'clock at night.
When he entered the house, he realized that it was quiet. His parents were not downstairs, and there were no signs of a guest either.
Sebastian felt suspicious. Did they not have a guest over? Sebastian wondered.
Just then, the butler appeared in the hall. When he saw Sebastian, he greeted him immediately. "Young Master Sebastian, you're home. Do you want anything to eat? Would you like us to prepare some food?"
"There's no need for that," said Sebastian in a low voice.
"All right then," the butler replied while nodding. Just as he was about to go on with his own business, Sebastian stopped him.
"Butler," Sebastian began.
"Yes, Young Master Sebastian. Is there anything else you need me to help you with?"
Sebastian hesitated for a moment before asking, "Didn't we have any guests over today?"
"Guests?" The butler was very surprised. There had been no such thing. He shook his head and replied, "No, there weren't any guests today."
Sebastian was dumbfounded. He frowned as he said, "Oh, all right. You may go then."
If there were no guests that day, why did his parents say so the other night then? Sebastian wondered.
Could it be that something had happened?
Could it be that Claudia did not want to come?
That was right. Claudia probably would not appear at the Jones' residence ever again. Sebastian thought to himself. He felt relieved, yet at the same time, he felt a vague sense of loss.
The feeling made him frown even more. In the end, he simply shook his head and went upstairs. Unexpectedly, he bumped into Sylvia, who was coming down just as he approached the stairs. Sylvia saw him and said with a smile, "You're home. You went out for quite a while today." Sebastian gazed at her, sensing that she was secretly happy about something.
Meanwhile, her eyes were also very sharp. It seemed as if she had detected something amiss.
Sebastian merely replied indifferently, "Didn't I say that I'll be going out today?"
"Yes, you're right. I do remember you saying that you'd be going out today. You went out for quite long." Sylvia chuckled. As she stood on the stairs next to him, she could almost feel the icy aura emanating from his body. Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Sylvia smiled and looked him up and down. "Sebastian, why do you seem to be so cold? Could it be that you stayed outside the whole time? Didn't you go to the library?"
Upon hearing that, Sebastian raised an eyebrow. "What are you trying to say?"
"Nothing." Sylvia did not want to make a fuss about it with him either. She smiled kindly as she said, "You should put on some thicker clothes. You don't want to catch a cold."
With that, Sylvia headed downstairs.
Sebastian's brows were slightly knitted together. He stood on the stairs without moving for a long time. No one knew what was going on in his mind. When Sylvia almost got to the bottom of the stairs, Sebastian's voice rang out.
"Weren't we having someone over? Why did no one come?" Sylvia was taken aback. She had not expected Sebastian to bring it up and ask her about it so frankly.
Interesting. Sylvia mused.
She glanced at Sebastian and replied, "Oh, Claudia said she had some other things to do and couldn't come."
"She couldn't come?" Sebastian frowned.
It seemed that Claudia would never come to the house again. Sebastian thought to himself.
He froze on the stairs and did not walk upstairs for a long time.
Sylvia gazed at his back with a meaningful smile.
So, it did seem that Sebastian still had some feelings for Claudia. Otherwise, he would not have asked why Claudia did not come over for dinner.
Seeing that Sebastian did not speak, she smiled and added, "She's been busy looking for a place to rent. That's why she didn't have the time to come over for dinner. But think that's just an excuse."
When Sebastian heard that, he suddenly said in a deep voice, "That's good. It's awkward for people that have nothing to do with us to keep coming over."
"How does she have nothing to do with us?" Sylvia asked with a smile. "She's my friend, and we might become relatives in the future." "Relative?" Sebastian asked impatiently.
"Cousins, of course," Sylvia replied.
"What else? Like Kendrix, and
Claudia is Kendrix's cousin. If I should marry Kendrix in the future,
then Claudia would become my
cousin-in-law, wouldn't she? If so, wett be related."
Sebastian's frown deepened when he heard that. "I'm going upstairs to my room," he muttered.
Apparently, he did not intend to continue with that topic.
As Sylvia watched him leave, she grinned so widely that her eyes could barely be seen. She finally knew one of Sebastian's secrets.
It was such a rare thing for Sylvia.
It looked like Sebastian could not control his feelings either.
She wondered if Claudia still had such confidence in him.
She felt that Claudia was not the kind of person who would give up so easily.
She was probably the kind of girl who became braver the more she felt defeated.
The next evening, Sebastian stayed home at studied upstairs in his room. He had not gone out the whole day.
He did not even go downstairs much either, so he had no idea what was happening in the house.
He did not know that the butler had already prepared many yummy dishes for a fancy dinner, nor that they were having a guest over.
When he went downstairs for dinner, he found that they had no intentions to start dinner yet.
Sensing something amiss, he asked Grace, "Why aren't we having dinner yet?"
"Oh, let's wait a little longer," Grace replied. "You'll have to wait as well, even if you're hungry."
