Chapter 17
Chapter 17
“Are you two okay?” Kathie asked even when she knew things were not right between Lewis and his sister.
“And don’t you dare lie to me, honey. I’ve been suspecting for a few days now. Whenever I ask about her from you, you reply as though you both never used to have a very strong bond.”
“Yeah, you’re right. We are not on good terms and we might never be.”
“Why?” She asked immediately.
“We will talk about it when we see tomorrow.”
“I’ve never had a sibling so I don’t know how it feels but I think it’s normal for siblings to fight. Can’t you both just sit and talk it out?”
“I know you want what’s best for me, babe, but this is beyond repair or any form of reconciliation. My lawyer is working on a restraining order already.”
“Natasha is one of the most amazing humans I’ve ever met, you better be ready to give a reasonable explanation for all of these.”
“I’ll tell you everything when we see.” He assured. “But for now stay away from any calls from her, text messages or any visits.”
“Has it gotten this bad?”
Lewis sighed. “You have no idea, babe.”
“But don’t you think you’re being biased?”
“How?”
“I deserve to hear from both sides, Don’t I?” Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
“Katherine....” Lewis groaned
“Yeah, babe. I’m going to be your wife in a few months, meaning your family becomes mine and your sister automatically becomes my sister too. If anything, I should help settle whatever quarrel that is between you both. I will always have your back, baby but I don’t think it’s wise enough for me to ignore your sister.”
“Natasha is against us getting married.”
“What??? Why???”
Before Lewis could say something else, She cut him off.
“You’re not saying this to paint her as a bad person, right? Because the last time I checked, She was really nice to me and I never did anything wrong to her. We were on good terms I guess.”
“Babe, Do you trust me?”
“You know I trust you more than anything in the world.” Even though her reply calmed Lewis, his chest sort of felt heavy.
“Then just do as I said. Please avoid any form of conversation with her. I will explain all you need to know when we see tomorrow afternoon.”
“Okay. I will talk to you later. I have to prepare for work.”
“I love you.”
Katherine smiled, “I love you too. Bye.”
..................................
There wasn’t much to do at work today for Katherine Peters so She was back home on time. She had dinner with her babies, helped them with their homework, and then played with them after which they decided to have some cuddling time.
Cuddling time was always after they took their shower. They would cuddle on the bed with their mom in Katherine’s room. And talk about how their day went.
“So did you apologize to Kiki?” She directed at Sammy who nodded.
“Sebby?...”She turned to her left where Sebastian was for confirmation.
“Yes, mommy. Sammy said sorry to Kiki.”
“So how did you feel after you apologized?”
Sammy shrugged.
As young as he was and as compared to his siblings, Katherine had known her baby boy to be a boy of few words. He was hardly intimidated by people or things and always did stuff whenever he felt like doing them.
“I said sorry to her and gave her the cookies because I don’t want you to be sad.”
Kathie shook her head in disbelief.
“I like Kiki. She’s pretty.” Sophie said. She was on Kathie’s right-hand side along with Sammy.
“So you don’t like pretty girls?” Kathie directed to Sammy.
“He’s just scared of Treasure. Treasure likes Sammy and She doesn’t like it when he talks to other girls in class.”
“Treasure is bossy,” Sophie added.
“Stop it.” Sammy groaned. “I don’t like Treasure or Kiki or anybody. Everybody just wants to talk to me.”
Katherine chuckled. “You don’t need to like anyone and it’s impossible to like everyone but just be nice to people and respect everyone regardless.”
“This applies to Lewis too.”
“Lewis again!!!” It was Sebastian that groaned this time around.
“Come sit here!” She gestured for all her kids to occupy the space before her and they obeyed. Sophie sat in the middle and beside her were her brothers.
“I agreed to Lewis’s proposal and that means we would be getting married in the nearest future.”
“Does it have to be him? Why can’t you marry another person?” Sammy mumbled, looking into his mother’s eyes.
“Because mommy loves only Lewis.”
The trio still didn’t seem convinced that that was enough reason to get married to themselves and Katherine saw it on their faces.
She sighed. “I know you all think that getting married to Lewis would mean abandoning you all but that is not true. You three are my priority and I promise not to love you guys any less.”
“You don’t need to accept Lewis right away with open arms but I would love for you all to stop thinking ill of him. He’s willing to do everything to make this work, to make us a big and happy family so I want you guys to please give him the chance to make it up to you. Do this for mommy’s sake. Please,”
Sophie looked down at her hands while her brothers stared at each other.
“When is the wedding?” Sophie mumbled when she raised her head.
“We’ve not picked a date yet. But it’s not anytime soon. We still have so much to put in place. Maybe in a couple of months.”
There was silence between mother and children for a while.
“You’re happy about it?” Sophie whispered, staring at her mom with her cute little face.
Katherine smiled, nodding.
“Okay.” The little girl said.
“Okay, what?” Katherine asked in anticipation.
“If marrying Lewis will make you happy, Then it’s okay.” Tearing her gaze from her mother, Sophie took a glance at her brothers on both sides, as if asking for their approval or begging for them to give their consent.
“Is there anything you all are not telling me?”
She asked upon the triplets' silence and the way they were having conversations with their eyes.
“I’m your mom and I promise that you all can tell me anything. No matter how silly it is.”
Sammy was about to say something but Sophie shook her head.
“Soph!!” Kathie almost glared at her.
“Sammy, Mommy is happy. Leave it!” Sebastian mumbled.
“Speak Samuel,” Katherine commanded, already getting worried. Being a single mother was something Kathie never saw coming but She boldly took the responsibility and had been doing great with it so far. Her children were her life and heaven knows she would do anything for him. Kathie brought her kids up with so much love that they were free to tell her anything and the thought of them keeping something away from her was making her heart heavy already.
