The substitute bride is a mute

Chapter 28

Chapter 28

Matthew's voice was low, but to Judy, it rumbled.

What kind of man was Clark? Other than that night of revenge on their wedding night, he always looked at her with undisguised indifference. Now, Matthew wanted her to get pregnant with Clark's child.

That was harder than impossible!

"No way." Judy shook her head. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

Matthew remained unfazed. "Nothing is impossible. As long as you feed him this. Put it in his drink, try it a few times, and don't let him find out. You'll get pregnant eventually."

Judy was shocked. Was this what a father would say to his daughter?

When she was first returned to the Blake family, she also had longed for a father's love. Her expectations had dwindled with each day of indifference from Matthew.

Even so, she never thought that Matthew would sell her like a commodity to the Reid family. After all, even a tiger doesn't eat its cubs.

"Father, have you ever thought of me as your daughter?" Judy looked at Matthew, trying to find a trace of compassion in his gaze.

"Of course, you're my daughter. As the oldest in the Blake family, these are the responsibilities you have to bear, Judy.

"As long as you give birth to Clark's child, the Reid family will be yours! I'm doing this for your good." Matthew selfishly explained his plans. The greed in his eyes could not be concealed, chilling Judy's heart.

"I can't do it." Judy gritted her teeth and refused. Clark had already warned her, and she had no wish to play with fire.

Matthew's face quickly darkened. "You still have to do it."

Judy wanted to say something, but she heard Jenna and Clark approaching.

Matthew quickly stuffed the package into Judy's hand, warning her, "Remember, your grandma is still in the hospital."

With her fatal weakness held in someone else's hands, Judy had no choice but to grit her teeth and endure it.

"What are you guys talking about?" Matthew's voice echoed from behind.

Judy stiffened as she tightly gripped the package and hid it in her sleeve.

"It's nothing. Judy hasn't been back for a while. We just chatted for a bit." Matthew stood up, looked at Clark calmly, and forced a smile. "Judy said she's well taken care of by the Reid family. She's happy there."

"Really?" Clark glanced at Judy meaningfully. Meeting his gaze, Judy suddenly felt uneasy, her face turning a bit pale.

"Oh, Dad and Judy haven't seen each other for a long time. Let them be, Clark. I'll show you around." Jenna disliked Clark's attention on Judy, grabbing his arm.

"No need, Judy can show me around," Clark said.

Hearing this, Judy's expression froze, looking at Clark in surprise.

"Clark—" Jenna reached for Clark's hand.

"We agreed on this before coming. I want to see where Judy lived before she got married." Clark pulled away his arm and cast a cold look at Judy. "Right, Judy?"

The way he called her sent a shiver down Judy's spine. What exactly was Clark trying to do?

Jenna watched Clark and Judy ascend the stairs, her anger rising. She stomped her feet in frustration.

"Jen, sit down," Matthew said, his face grim. Clark was not someone to be trifled with. Somehow he had made Jenna smitten with him. If this persisted, there would be trouble.

On the other hand, Judy led Clark into her bedroom.

The room faced north and hardly received sunlight. She closed the door, appearing awkward. She pulled out the chair in front of her desk and gestured for Clark to sit.

"Is this where you stayed?" Clark gave her a complicated look.
