Chapter 9 Ross Family Ancestral Rites

Phoebe’s father gave Phoebe Barnes a look and suppressed his anger, pulling out a faint smile, “Nothing much, Phoebe and I just happened to be passing by and thought we hadn’t seen old Mr. Ross for a long time, so we thought we’d pay a visit.”

Mr. Ross laughed loudly, “What a coincidence, we just went to the mountain to pay respect to our ancestors, if we were a minute late, we would not have met Mr. Barnes.”

The young girl standing next to her playing with her cell phone suddenly raised her face and said in a soft and lazy voice, “Grandpa, today is the big day of the Ross family’s ancestral ritual, did no one tell sister-in-law? Or did she forget about it?”

The tone is clueless and harmless, but the prickliness is obvious.

Phoebe Barnes’ face froze for a minute. It’s true that no one had told her that today was the day of the ancestral ritual.

She looked up at Kemp Ross, who was always silent, in a dark suit, with one hand in his pocket, reserved, with an indifferent and quiet expression, and seemingly not intending to say anything.

“What’s the big or small day? It’s not like that every year, your sister-in-law is busy working, you think they’re all as idle as you are.” Old Mr. Ross gave the girl a faint glare.

Eighteen-year-old Genny Ross, Kemp Ross’s half-sister, has a soft, harmless face, but always likes to get in trouble with Phoebe Barnes.

Accused, she immediately beamed her red lips in dissatisfaction and walked to the old gentleman’s side with a hint of sneer in her good-natured laughter, “What kind of work? I think it’s speculating on the gossip, right? The scandal of sister-in-law and brother can be hanging in the hot search list for half a day, what eighteen line of small artists on the list of the big gold master to seek the top, the scolding can be hard to hear, our Ross family has never appeared this, but is quite interesting.”

Phoebe Barnes blushed slightly and subconsciously bit her lip.

Kemp Ross’ stepmother Bonnie Ning pulled Genny Ross aside and gave a token rebuke, “Don’t talk nonsense about adults, children, your brother and your sister-in-law are originally a couple, how can you say it’s a scandal.”

Genny Ross cocked his head and played dumb, hooking his lips, “Doesn’t it count? So many of my friends have come to me for confirmation, I don’t know what to say.”

Mr. Ross senior frowned, his face became serious, turned his eyes to look at Kemp Ross, his tone was stern, “What’s going on, Phoebe is your wife, my Ross family’s daughter-in-law, you just let those people out there to smear her? You go to a press conference now and announce your marriage, this can’t be delayed any longer.”

The man who was always silent glanced at the thin and pale girl in front of him, and there was a hint of darkness under his thick black ink-like eyes, and then he lowered his eyes and said respectfully and coldly, “I will handle this matter.”

Old Mr. Ross was about to say something else when the middle-aged man next to him hurriedly stepped forward and smiled, “Dad, Kemp will take care of this matter. Let’s go inside first, we can’t keep letting Mr. Barnes stand at the door.”

Mr. Ross old man looked at Phoebe’s father with some guilt and said, “Sorry Mr. Barnes, I will let Kemp give you an account of this matter, I won’t let Phoebe be aggrieved.”

Phoebe’s father faintly pulled out a meaningful expression, and looked at Kemp Ross, “What to explain or not, I just need my daughter’s happiness is enough.”

Phoebe Barnes’ heart jumped and she was busy hugging Phoebe’s father’s arm, “Dad, I’m fine.”

Phoebe’s father said with distress and accusation, “What’s so good about it? You’ve just come out of the hospital and you’re blowing, and you’re going back to work with an illness, you really don’t know how to take care of yourself at all.”

“Phoebe is sick? I say why is this little face of hers as white as paper, quick, call a doctor.” Old Mr. Ross was stunned for a moment and immediately frowned at the bodyguard next to him and ordered.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

“No, Grandpa, don’t listen to my dad, I’m fine.” Phoebe Barnes was momentarily frightened and waved her hand in refusal.

“I don’t think my sister-in-law looks like something is wrong either, Grandpa, let’s go inside first.” Genny Ross smiled disdainfully at her, took old Mr. Ross’s arm and walked towards the mansion’s front door.
