Part 2 Chapter 17 - Elijah
The last four days have been amazing but also incredibly tiring. Diana craved sex almost constantly, only resting for a couple of hours at a time before waking me up so I could take her again. That cycle continued until late last night when her heat finally broke and we were both able to get some rest.
That rest was a lot shorter than either of us would have liked. Diana's mom knocked on our door shortly after dawn the following morning. She told us that we needed to get washed and dressed so we could get back to our pack for the celebration they were throwing in our honour.
I wasn't too happy with the idea of a party in our honour while Diana was so exhausted, but cancelling it would have been an unpopular move. I couldn't even be unhappy at Mark for organising it, he was only trying to do his best to raise the morale within our pack after what had been a difficult couple of weeks.
He knew as much as I did that the best way of doing that was spending time together as a pack, Diana and I would just have to suffer our way through it. If we were lucky then we would be able to sneak out unnoticed after a couple of hours of socialising.
It took us a few hours to get ready and load everything into the car so we could set off. That meant that we were going to be late to our own party but there was no way that we were going to turn up at the party without taking the time to clean ourselves first. As it turns out, four days of nonstop sex leaves you feeling pretty gross and I don't think Diana's mom wouldn't have been too happy sharing a car with us in that state.
Almost as soon as the car started Diana took the opportunity to take a nap with her head resting on my lap. Meanwhile, I pulled out my phone and started checking emails. Being away from my phone for over a week meant that I had hundreds of emails relating to my businesses and my pack. Mark had done his best to stay on top of things in my absence but unfortunately there were a few things that only I could give authority for.
I spent a couple of hours answering as many emails as I could before staring at the tiny screen made my head hurt too badly for me to continue. Then I put my phone back in my pocket and pulled Diana a little closer, breathing in her scent to keep my wolf calm. For some reason he had been more on edge ever since she came out of her heat
"He will be like that until he is sure that she isn't pregnant." Diana's mom told me without taking her eyes off the road.
"You need to stop doing that." I was too tired to keep my mental defences up all the time but Diana didn't seem to need that to keep herself out of my mind. I didn't ask her how she managed it but surely if she could manage it, then so could her mom.
"I'm just out of practice. Arthur clouded pretty much everyone else's thoughts from me. I will try harder if you let me stay in your pack."
"What are you talking about? Of course you can stay in the pack, why was that even in question?" I asked.
"I betrayed your mate. It might have been done under coercion but I still did it. I can understand if you don't really want to keep me around after that."
I looked at her in shock, there was no way I was going to hold that against her. Arthur had made a lot of people do things that they wouldn't ordinarily do, but all of that was on him rather than the people he manipulated. Besides, Diana had lost enough time with her mom already, she wasn't going to lose anymore on my account.
There was nothing that I could do about the difficult start Diana had in life but I would make it my mission to ensure that her future was as perfect as possible. I would do literally anything it took to keep her and our many future children happy.
Diana's mom must have heard this within my mind because she glanced at me in the rearview mirror and smiled. Thankfully she didn't say anything about it this time and the car lapsed into a comfortable silence for the next few hours until the border of our pack came into view.
Diana was still sleeping soundly, so I softly brushed her hair away from her face to wake her. She mumbled a few words before pushing my hand away and going back to sleep. So much for the gentle wake up call.
"Honey, you need to get up. We will be home soon and everyone will want to see you." I told her.
"That is fine, they can still see me if I am sleeping."
She turned away from me making it clear that she had no intention of waking up yet. I needed to get her some coffee, it was the only foolproof way I knew of to get her to wake up. Diana's POV
The scent of coffee invaded my nostrils, bringing me back into consciousness. It took me a few moments before I had come to my scenes enough to open my eyes, but when I did I realised that my head was laying on Elijah's lap and he was holding a cup of coffee in front of my face.
"Is that for me?" I asked, my voice still husky after my nap.
"Of course it is honey, it is your favourite."
He helped me into a seated position then placed the drink in one hand and a chocolate muffin in the other. I realised that he was bribing me so that I wouldn't get too upset over this party thing. I wasn't going to let him know that I was onto him, if he thought that he was in control of the situation then maybe he would do something like this again in the future. It was nice being woken up with coffee and sweet treats, I could get used to this. This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Wow, I didn't think that was actually going to work." My mom said, looking at me in the rearview mirror. I guess she was in on this ruse as well.
"There isn't a whole lot that I won't do for coffee." I told them.
I could see the gates to our house coming up in the distance. Someone had tied balloons around the gate posts. That was a bad sign, I was hoping that this celebration was going to be a casual kind of thing, but if they had gone to the effort of putting up decorations then I doubted that was going to be the case. I tried my best not to let my disappointment show, I had my coffee, that would help to get me through the next few hours. "Shit, I didn't realise that Mark had invited other packs to this party." Elijah complained as we passed through the gates.
As I followed his gaze the cause of his outburst was immediately evident. A group of people were standing outside of the house waiting for us, and there were a lot more of them than there were members of our pack. The decorations that I had seen on the gates had been continued within the grounds, only here they were much more extravagant.
There were no balloons here, but there were tons of fairy lights and miles of white organza. There were also more little white flowers than I had ever seen in one place before. It looked beautiful but it definitely didn't look like a welcome home celebration. In fact, it looked a lot like something else.

"Wait a moment, is this a luna ceremony?" I exclaimed, my voice wavering slightly.
"Why do you sound so worried? Don't you want to be my luna?" Even though I knew that Elijah was teasing me, I still felt guilty at the thought that my outburst could have upset him.
"I am already your luna in every way that counts, but I don't really want to have the ceremony when I am feeling like this. I have hardly slept for the last four days and I feel a little bit like a zombie, and now that I think about it, I probably still smell a bit like one too."
Elijah buried his face into my neck and took a deep breath. I expected that he would push me away in disgust but instead he leaned into me more and I felt his arousal spike through our bond.
"You smell perfect to me. In fact, you smell better than perfect." He ran his tongue over the skin on my neck, crawling even closer to me. I could now feel his erection pressing against my hip as he started to kiss his way down my neck. "Elijah, I don't think this is what everyone has come here to see."
"That is a shame. I would much rather do this than go out there and spend time with them." Elijah mumbled under his breath.
'How about we get this luna ceremony over with, and once all the guests go home you can do all those things that are floating around in your mind right now.' I told him over mindlink.
Elijah thought about my offer for a few seconds before jumping out of the car and pulling me with him. There was a good chance that this was going to be the quickest luna ceremony in history, not that I was complaining.
