I lost him
A DEAL WITH THE CEO
Christine.
I called Easton to come over to the mansion asap. I badly needed to speak to him about what Jayden said.
He was still at loggerheads with Fanuel and asked if he was at home, I ended the call by telling him to try his best and come.
I don’t know why but I hated the feeling that Webb’s location was discovered. In normal circumstances, I should feel happy and give my brother all the encouraging word, don’t get me wrong. I still want Webb to be found but this uneasy feeling of leaving Fanuel clouded my heart and scared me.
Finding Webb means retrieving his money and setting me free from whatever deal and contract I had with Fanuel.
What if Webb is willing to pay the money to avoid going to jail?
I’ll automatically leave Fanuel and everything will go to its previous self.
My stomach churned in pain at such a thought.
Fanuel wasn’t too happy with the news of finding Webb or leaving him, it was so evident.
“Are you okay Christine?” Jay asked worriedly and I faked a smile.
“I’m good Jay, thanks ”
“I know that smile Christine, that was the same smile you gave to me at the other house before Fanuel called everyone for his missing necklace.”
Jeez!! He didn’t have to be too detailed and remind me of that.
I bit my lips and smiled, a genuine one this time around.
“You’re right Jay, I’m not a good Liar.”
He smirked.
“I know, would you mind telling me what’s bothering you? You know you can still talk to me right?”
He was really concerned about anything that has to do with me and I wondered why. His actions with me are enough for me to fall for him anytime anyday but his brother swoon me over instead despite his harshness and aggressiveness.
“Jay…I…I’m scared.”
“Why?”
“About my Dad, what if he hurt Easton after fishing him out?” That’s a fat lie!
That was the total opposite of what I wanted to say.
I wanted to tell him to tell Easton to stop stressing himself. Webb can be gone forever and I wouldn’t give a damn as long as I stay with Fanuel but I can’t bring myself to tell Jayden I’m head over heels with his brother.
It will sound stupid weird. They were still having a hard time wrapping up what’s going on and talking more of telling them.
It was shrewd.
“He’s fine Christine, stop worrying about stuff like that. Webb will be in prison the moment we get hold of him. He’s not only going to be detained for stealing and fraud but for rape and assault ”
My mouth dropped.
“Rape?”
He cursed inwardly as if he shouldn’t have said that and sighed.
“I’m sorry but…Easton told me.. about the you…shit, he told me not to tell anyone.”
Tears welled my eyes.
That was a damn secret I didn’t want the world to know. It was the most embarrassing, painful and dark moment of my life.
Why would he tell Jay? She’s the only one with the right to tell anyone.
“How many people know already?” My vision blinded as tears dropped in hierarchy.
“Christine…I didn’t tell anyone and I will never condemn you for something that’s not your fault.. Please just believe me.”
I nodded, feeling worse and exposed, my tears still drilling in torrents and I turned to meet with Fanuel’s angry eyes.
I thought he was inside?
I wiped my eyes quickly but the dude was already fuming, approaching them.
“What the fúçk did you say to her?” He glared at his brother who swallowed hard, surprised at his reaction.
“I…I’m sorry okay, I didn’t meant to hurt her ”
“What did you tell her?” Fanuel yelled, causing the room to be alert and whipping their attention to the two brothers.
“Fanuel…please, it’s okay. I’m fine, he didn’t said anything wrong”
He ignored me not breaking off his gaze at Jayden who regretted his actions and wished he could rewind everything.
“I asked a question Jay.”
“I didn’t know that she would get sensitive to it, okay, I apologize… ”
Jayden cowered at his brother’s stare.
“You’ve overstayed, can you just…”
“No Fanuel, he’s not going anywhere please…stop already. I’m fine, he didn’t make me cry, I was just.. I’m okay please ”
I moved and stood in their midst, bringing his face down to meet with mine and he sighed, dragging my hands and leaving their sight to his room.
“I’m sorry ” I broke down in tears and I don’t just know why.
“You shouldn’t, what did Jay say to you?”
“He did nothing bad, I was just ashamed that he got to know I was raped and assaulted by my dad. I didn’t want anyone else to know but my brother told him.
I feel disgusted, ” I confessed and wept.
“Shh!! That’s enough love. Whatever Webb did to you doesn’t change the fact that you’re amazing and I love you to bits. It doesn’t stop me from wanting you more or stopping your brother from loving you. Stop feeling embarrassed about something like that, You make me feel worse when I see you cry, I don’t even deserve to even be with you after…doing something despicable to you.
That’s why…I could kill anyone who dares try to hurt you in anyway ”
“Stop it ” I tell him.
“What?”
“Feeling guilty.”
“I guess, I can’t help it.”
“You were angry and I understand that, as long as you don’t hit me again…”
“I’ll never do that to you again…ever. I just hope you try and forgive me.”
He said remorsefully and I hugged him, wanting to stay under his embrace and scent forever.
He carried me up and placed me on the bed, cuddling me till I got drowned in sleep.
After a few hours, I woke up with a soft tap on my arm.
“I’m sorry love but your brother is here. Should I ask him to wait a little while?”
I stood up and stretched my hands.
“No, I’ll meet him.”
I say standing up to meet my brother, who was lost staring at his phone.
“Christine!” He sighed and stood to hug me staring daggers at Fanuel who left us alone.
“Easton, I’ve missed you silly.”
“You abandoned me pumpkin.” He called my usual pet name and I grinned, ruffling his hair.
“You know I can’t abandon my favorite, How is mum?”
“She’s good, still running around to work and yelling at me to stay off the computer.” I chuckled.
“I’ve missed her too. Will you like anything.. I prepared something delicious.
“Sure..” he smiled and I moved to stand up when he held my hand.
