Chapter 34: My first mission
CHAPTER 34.
Jayden Pov.
I pity the poor girl, she’s a roasted meat in the hands of Fanuel and she’s so vulnerable to all of his actions.
The engagement party took us unawares and it sure was a good thing as deals were signed and contracts were signed. Tch! Why are they making it look like marriage is a do or die affair? Like it’s an achievement.
Laurel walked in and smiled, greeting me in the process.
“Hey”
“Good morning Jay.”
“What’s up?”
“I’m good.”
“I see right, the latest chief bride in town.” I teased and she chuckled.
“You don’t have to be sarcastic.”
“I know right?”
I lifted the suspension and made her have access to the living room once more. I knew she wasn’t the one that stole that necklace and she’s not ready to tell me yet.
I liked her a lot but she’s still too blind to notice. Laurel was beautiful, cheerful, ambitious and decent. She can be fiesty at times but she’s always humble when it comes to me and I really hated that. I wanted her to be herself and be free, not displaying the whole ‘he’s my boss’ attitude towards me.
She loved Christine genuinely and that melts me also, the fact that she rarely knew her but defended her and saved her like a sister is golden.
She carried the duster to wipe the shelf but I stopped her.
“Stop it.” She raised her brows.
“Why?”
“Cause I don’t want you to do it.”
“But it’s my job Jay.”
“Can you just stop it. Someone else will do that…don’t worry.” She looked really uncomfortable but nodded anyway.
“The necklace.” Her eyes shot up in shock when I said that.
“When are you going to tell me the truth?”
“There’s no truth to it Jay, I took it and I had to defend Christine.”
I walked closer to her and stared deeply at her.
Her breath hitches and she looked down.
“Tell me the truth.”
“Promise me that you won’t say a word or spill it out.”
“I can’t.”
“Then I won’t say anything.”
“At Least you confirmed my curiosity, you didn’t do it. Who did it Laurel? Are you threatened?”
“No.”
“Then why all these hesitation.”
“Cause I don’t want anything to come in between them once she finds out the truth.” She inhales and exhales before she says what I was expecting.
“Diana did it.”
I knew it!!
“I saw her slide it inside Christine’s pockets while she was fast asleep. I thought it was an ordinary necklace but after the confrontation with my boss, I knew it was the necklace. And I couldn’t let Christine go through another shame of being called a thief or given another punishment.”
I exhale in amusement. I had a feeling that Diana was behind it but I didn’t want to judge so quickly.
“So you’re keeping the truth away from Christine, so it won’t sabotage their friendship right?” I asked and she nodded.
“That’s a selfish act Laurel.” She gasped.
“How?”
“Keeping the truth from her, we don’t know Diana’s next step and if it will definitely land her in trouble. Warning her to stay away from her friend would act as a greenlight to the kind of person she has as a friend.”
“But she loves Diana a lot
“Really, imagines she kills Christine…what would you do or say at her grave.” Her eyes grew wide like saucers and she glared at me.
“You have a very wild and scary imagination Jay, please don’t say such.”
“Anything can happen Laurel, I would have told her but I feel it’s your position to do so. She’s already going through a lot of shit to add more salt to her Injury.” I told her and she nodded.
“I will, thanks a lot Jay. ” I smiled at her.
“I want something in return, I don’t give advice for free.”
“Oh…”
“Yeah, we are going out this evening. I’ll call you by 17:00 hours, sherry will come over with your dress.”I Left her in awe before she could reply, I grinned within knowing that I indirectly asked her out for a date.
********
Diana’s POV.
Fanuel Hudson is getting married to my friend tomorrow, tch! How ironic?
I get to be her bridesmaids and watch them walk down the aisle with someone I’ve grown to like.
She gets everything!! Nope, she never gets anything’ though, her life has always been shitty and always in a mess, she excluded herself from guys and lived a boring life even though she had a big heart and a little bit of feistiness.
She’s outright smart and intelligent in academics while I was the attention stealer. I got what and who I want and guys bow to my demands…. but this is too much! I can’t let her have Fanuel! It could have been anyone but not my favorite person.
I felt hot tears burning through my eyes. I can’t believe she will flaunt herself around the media as one Mrs Fanuel, she will be to see him anytime she wants and lie on the same bed with him. Fuckkkk!!!
That thought alone gives me chills.
My phone chimed loudly and I picked it up in anger.
“Yes?”
“Oh really…wait! I’ll be out now.”
I grabbed the hoodie on the bed and threw it on before heading outside.
I sighted Jayden and I sneered, I dislike him the same way he dislikes me. It’s just too bad that he’s too good-looking to resist.
I liked Fanuel better, dude is always smoking hot.
I faked a smile at him and greeted and he gave this creepy nod. The gate slid open automatically and I walked out.
I turned back to check if I was being followed but I’m glad, I wasn’t.
I sighted the black tinted Camry and walked towards it.
The door clicked open and I entered, facing her in her beauty and ravishing glory. She’s so pretty in her petite body, I want to be like her too.
I want to drive expensive and flashy things too, maybe that might make Fanuel notice me.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
But I’m no match for such a request, I almost regretted the fact that I was given birth by my mum or dad…I wanted more.
“You’re here.”
“Yeah, you look good”
“I know.” Ugh! She’s so sassy.
“I don’t Like to beat about the bush but I think we have a lot in common after we met at the engagement party.” She adjusted her pink googles and continued.
“I still love him and I want my man back.” I sneered.
“So you have to do everything in your power to stop that wedding. Not that you can stop it though but you need to try.”
I like him too!
I almost yelled at her but Maintained my cool.
“I will send a few bucks to you, just type in your account details and we are good.
Here’s my card to the white house just in case of necessity, You know what to do next.”
I smiled at her and nodded approvingly, My first mission to ruin the wedding is going to be a blast.
