Ahab was no longer part of the team at New Blossom Press.
“Alright, Ahab’s gone; you guys can breathe easy now. He is a textbook example, folks. I hope you all take a lesson from this – don’t use your seniority to bully the new blood. Got
it?”
“Got it.”
“Meeting adjourned.”
The boss returned to his office alone, while Regina remained seated at her desk for a while longer. She felt a need to ask why he had suddenly taken her side.
Before she could approach his office, she overheard him on the phone.
She turned to leave, then suddenly, her own name caught her ear.
“Yes – everything’s been done just as you instructed. Regina has no clue it was your idea to deal with Ahab..
Yeah, you can count on that; she won’t find out
Alright, looking forward to your next visit to New Blossom Press, Mr. Harris.”
“Mr. Harris!”
Regina was stunned. Which Mr. Harris could command such respect from her boss?
Could it be Nolan Harris? But how could he be involved?
Regina panicked. She wasn’t sure if the man she was thinking of was the Mr. Harris her boss was speaking to, but she couldn’t think of another.
She couldn’t understand why Nolan would have the boss take care of Ahab for her and insist on keeping her in the dark. Why?
After the boss hung up the phone, Regina boldly knocked and entered.
The boss nearly jumped out of his skin he had just been on the call with that man. He had just said not to let Regina find out, and there she was, appearing before him. He quickly pocketed his phone, looking guilty as sin. Casting a few glances, he blurted, “Regina, what are you doing barging in? Ahab’s gone; shouldn’t you be getting back to work?”
“Boss, why the sudden move on Ahab? I remember the issue with that newspaper was days ago. Why choose today?”
Regina towered over him, feigning ignorance.
“Hey, it was a decision between the higher-ups and me. We pick a day, and that’s that.

We’ve gotten rid of the bad apple, so get back to work, and don’t ask about anything else.” The boss waved his hands frantically, urging her to leave. He was afraid she’d soon sense something was amiss.
“Boss, no need to hide it from me. I heard everything. You said this was all done on Mr. Harris’s orders.”
–
Regina ripped off the band-aid, and the boss’s eyes bulged, “What are you blabbering about? Mr. Harris this, Mr. Harris that this was a decision I made with the higher-ups. It’s got nothing to do with anyone else.”
“Oh, is that so? Well, I might as well give Nolan a call then. I’ve got his number, after all.”
Regina nonchalantly pulled out her phone, and the boss lunged from behind his desk. “Don’t call, don’t call, jeez, you’re impossible.”
and now she was onto He had just assured Nolan that this would stay from Regina’s ears, it, even threatening to confirm with Nolan himself. Wasn’t that just blatantly throwing him under the bus?
“What do you want, really? The guy’s been dealt with, so can’t you just go back to work
peacefully? Why do you me a hard time?”
