The Kiss that Sparked it All

Chapter 2765

Chapter 2765

The boss kept pressing, and Ahab wore a pained expression. “Boss, | admit | messed up. Can you find it in your heart to forgive me? | just lost my cool, but | promise it won’t happen again.”

Regina snorted, her laughter tinged with ice. Another chance? In his wildest dreams.

The thing that really got her goat was recalling how Ahab had followed her one night to the Harris Group’s old warehouse. When some drunk started harassing her, Ahab didn’t lift a finger to help. Instead, he thought he’d struck gold, thinking he had something on her. It was laughable.

The guy had a story served up on a silver platter, and he blew it, choosing to pen some nonsense that made about as much sense as a screen door on a submarine.

“Boss, Ahab submitting work anonymously to other publications-that’s against company policy, isn’t it?”

The other women in the office had it out for him, too. And with this latest slip-up, they were chomping at the bit to show him the door

Ahab bristled. “What's it to you what | write? Are you miffed you didn’t make the cut? Who do you think you are, calling the shots around here?”

“You!” The woman slammed her hand on the table, her face turning beet red with anger. “You screw up, and yet you stand there all high and mighty. Boss, are you really gonna let this slide? Does New Blossom Press even care about its rules?”This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

“Boss, is this really worth making a fuss over? get that | messed up. Plus, I’ve been with New Blossom Press for years. I’ve put in my time, blood, sweat, and tears. Getting fired out of the blue... how am | supposed to explain that at home...”

That was his thinly veiled threat. He had connections, and he knew it. They wouldn’t dare fire him.

The boss snorted. Little did Anab know there was someone else pulling the strings this time.

With that player in the game, not even Ahab’s connections could save him.

“I'm sorry, but there’s no place for someone of your low caliber at New Blossom Press. I’ve already filed a report with the higher- ups. Pack your stuff; you’re out of here. And don’t worry about your family-they’ll get the message.”

Ahab couldn’t believe his ears. He shot up from his seat and stormed over to the Boss, fighting the urge to grab him by the collar. “What are you saying? Don’t joke with me. You think this is a game? I'll call my uncle right now, and we'll see how you handle that. Old man, you better watch it, or you might be the one losing your job.”

A few colleagues stepped in front of the boss, worried Ahab might lose control and lash out.

But they overestimated him. Ahab didn’t have the guts, and with his scrawny frame, he was no match for the boss, who was still sturdy even past fifty.

“Go ahead, make the call. Right here, in front of me. If your uncle says no, I’ll march to the executive office and make sure you stay.”

Ahab looked at him, suspicion etched on his face. He couldn’t fathom the boss’s confidence. After all these years, who would dare to touch him?

Regina felt a twinge of doubt. Their boss didn’t have the kind of backing to be so sure of himself. What had changed today?
