The Kiss that Sparked it All

Chapter 2745

“It’s a joke, really. Why did everyone seem to think that everything had a price tag? What about the memories I’ve made in this house, the warmth I’ve left behind? Don’t they count for anything?”

Regina bit her lip, “I didn’t mean it like that, I’m really sorry.”

She could feel her cheeks burning up. She was embarrassed by her own naiveté.

Seriously, what made her think that money could just buy out everything?

She had always criticized Nolan for being a profit-seeking businessman, but growing up in this family, even she had unconsciously been tainted by that mentality.

Always assuming money could fix everything, and there wasn’t a problem that cash couldn’t solve.

“I grew up on this land, and it wasn’t until I hit thirty that I finally got a place of my own. I hadn’t lived there long before I was being forced out. Now everyone thinks I’m a lunatic rolling around in the dirt, heh… But before those developers came storming in, this was my home. Why should I be the one to leave?” Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.

Regina remained silent because she had no answer to that question.

Now Nolan had his eyes on this piece of land too, surely because there was money to be made.

Profit versus family, she was at a loss on what to choose.

“So you refused the developers’ offer to move out? Is that why you ended up like this? Because you refused?”

Regina’s question plunged the man into a sea of past memories, and if he could, he wished he could just be buried in those sweet recollections.

But the harsh reality was that once he woke from that dreamlike memory, he found himself with nothing, all thanks to the cruel developers.

“My name’s Ablett, and there was a time before all this happened…”

Ablett choked up as he recounted his story to Regina.

He didn’t know why, on this particular night, he spilled everything to this greenhorn reporter.

Maybe it was precisely because she was new to the industry that she still had a glimmer of something that made him trust her.

“…I’m sorry.” After hearing it all, that was the only thing Regina could muster. Even her eyes were brimming with tears.

No wonder he was so resistant to the press; there was a trail of breadcrumbs leading to his distrust.

“I’m really sorry for pressuring you with my words earlier.”

After pouring his heart out, Ablett felt a lot lighter, wiping away the tears mixed with the grime on his face.

“Huh, I get what you all think, thinking I’m ungrateful or something. But if you had been through what I’ve been through, you’d understand why I was so resistant to talk. Anyway, now I’ve told you everything…”

“Don’t worry, as long as I’m in the tech industry, I’ll find a way to solve Regina said, eager to show her resolve. your problem,”

Ablett chuckled softly, “How do you plan to solve it? I don’t mean to dampen your spirit, but with all that’s happened to me, that developer might not be someone you can handle. Right now, being able to lie down on the land I know so well is all the satisfaction I need.”
