Chapter 212
Chapter 212
Derek walked out of the conference room, turned on his phone, and saw a text message from
Meredith.
When he saw her say that her mother had woken up, he seemed to see her happy face. She must be
delighted since she had looked forward to her mother's recovering.
Derek subconsciously wanted to call her and share her joy, but when half of the number was pressed,
he paused.
A dark light flashed in his eyes and he texted her instead. "I have been a little busy lately, so it's going
to take a while."
When Meredith received the message, she was talking to her mother. After waking up from her coma,
Amelia was very curious about what had happened.
Meredith also enjoyed the peace with her family, so she kept talking to her mother, and the two women
chattered about how they would start over and what business they wanted to do.
Meredith's cell phone rang. She turned it on and saw the message from Derek. Her smile stopped and
she quickly put the phone away.
"What's wrong?"
Seeing that Meredith seemed to be in a sudden depression, Amelia could not help but ask.
"No, it's just... He seems a little busy, so he can't come over right away."
Meredith forced out a smile. "A while ago, he had left the company for a long time to accompany me.
Now it's really difficult fo rhim to find time to come over. Mom, don't be angry. When he is free, he will
definitely come."
"You silly, how can I be angry? I just want you to be happy and to be with a reliable man. Since he's so
busy, I will wait when he's free. Don't think too much."
Meredith nodded, but still felt a little uneasy.
Although the tone of the message seemed to be the same as usual, Meredith inexplicably felt a little
uneasy.
She didn't know what was going on. She felt terrible.
...
Time passed quickly when one was busy.
Meredith took care of her mother while waiting for Derek to come, but Derek never gave a certain time.
Maybe it was because he was too busy.
Meredith felt that she had been paranoid like other pregnant women.
After talking with her mother for a while and watching her fall asleep, Meredith walked out with a sad
expression on her face.
These days, she felt something was wrong with Derek.
But she could not tell exactly what it was. She felt there was a stone pressing down on her chest, and it
made her uncomfortable.
Meredith went to the canteen to buy something her mother liked to eat. She was waiting in line when a
few girls' chirping voices came into her ears.
"Look at him. He's so handsome!"
"He is like a model."
Meredith shook her head, feeling that these people were exaggerating, but when she passed by the
place with the newspapers, she glanced at the man everyone was praising and wanted to know who he
was.
But she froze on the spot. NôvelDrama.Org content.
That man was Derek.
Meredith was not in the mood to queue at all. She sat down with a newspaper and flipped through it
anxiously.
It was written in English. Fortunately, Meredith was trained by the Masons as a young lady, so her
English was still OK. She could understand what it said on the newspaper.
On the cover of the newspaper was Derek's perfect face, which was as handsome as a Greek
sculpture. There was no extra expression on his face. Although he just stood there, he was full of a
dignified aura that made no one dare to approach him.
Although it was just a snap, it could be comparable to those carefully photographed fashion posters of
celebrities. He was that charming.
However, Meredith was not in the mood to appreciate it at all. She read the caption. Derek came here
for an important meeting. When he woke up, he began to gradually take back the foreign forces that
were occupied by others. This meeting was one part of his plan.
But... Why didn't Derek contact her?
Meredith was so sad, but she didn't want to think about the bad situation.
Maybe, Derek was just too busy. Maybe... he didn't have time to come over, or maybe he wanted to
surprise her?
Meredith thought of many reasons to calm herself down. Ever since she decided to be with him forever,
she didn't want to doubt him for such a small thing.
However, this newspaper could not be seen by her mother. In that case, she would probably be
dissatisfied with Derek.
Thinking about it, Meredith didn't care so much. She put the newspaper back where it was, bought
something, and went back.
When Amelia saw that Meredith was out running errands again, her heart ached. "Why are you running
around? You should rest more!"
Meredith shook her head. "It's only a few steps. It's good to exercise sometimes."
Although she tried to act to be normal, Amelia could tell at first glance that something was wrong with
her. "Mer, what's wrong?"
Meredith realized that she was distracted and shook her head. "No, I'm just... a little tired."
Amelia heard her say so and hurried her back to rest.
Meredith didn't insist on staying either. She was afraid her mother would find something was wrong
with her. That would be awkward.
When she got home, Meredith took her cell phone and scrolled it over and over again. She followed a
few microblog accounts related to the Xavier Group, which had posted many photos of his trip.
Meredith didn't know what she was looking forward to. She always thought if Derek came here, he
would definitely come to see her.
However, even after she saw the blog that said this meeting had ended and her eyes were sore, Derek
didn't call her.
Was he really that busy?
Meredith was a little disappointed, and she secretly expected Derek to give her a surprise.
Meredith was down for a while, and then patted her face. It was too passive to wait for others to
surprise her.
She checked the hotel where Derek was staying. Since he was so busy, he must be very tired. She
could take the initiative and go to him.
Thinking about it, Meredith was motivated again. Instead of complaining about him or thinking too
much, she wanted to see him. She missed him too.
However, thinking that Derek might be very tired, Meredith went to the kitchen and made a simple soup
herself. Because she was pregnant, she learned how to make nutritious soups, and now it came in
handy.
After a while, the sweet corn rib soup was ready. Meredith carefully pourd it into a thermal box. Then,
she asked the driver to take him to Derek's hotel.
If Derek was tired from work and suddenly saw her, he would be very surprised and happy. Thinking
about it, Meredith smiled happily and couldn't help but imagine the surprised look of a man.
