Temptation
Veil watched with a painstaking heart through her window as everyone else signed off from work at closing hour, while she was made to stay behind. With a heavy sigh, she settled into her chair. Guess this was one of the rewards that comes with working directly from the boss, and earning higher than everyone else.
If she was at least she was getting some extra pay for staying late into the night, then it wouldn’t have been so bad. But, he was simply just punishing her because he had the power to and had no consideration.
She ran her eyes across her desk, there was basically nothing to do, she was work free which meant she could go home now, yet, for some reason, her oh-so-high and mighty boss wasn’t ready to sign out. Was all of this because of the thing at the club? She sighed for the umpteenth time and was about to recline her head to rest on her desk, but, her door was thrown open in the next minute, frightening her.
Anders matched in looking as handsome and elegant as he had when she had first glimpsed him in the morning. His face was stress-free, and his suit was in perfect condition. Yet, here she was looking like she had had to roam the streets of the country. Well, how would he, when he had a staff of over one hundred people doing his work, and she was one of them?
“Why are you not busy?” He asked as if the sight of her resting made him sick.
Hearing that familiar deep tenor, Veil jerked up from her seat. “Mr. Rodriguez…” She said nervously. Fuck! why did his aura always have to be this intense and overpoweringly domineering?
“I want to believe you can still speak.” He said when Veil just stood there, saying nothing.
“Uh… Uh, yes, I-I,” Veil found herself stuttering. She momentarily berated herself for letting him have all these effects on him. Veil, this isn’t you. She thought to herself. She took a few seconds breaths, steadying herself, before facing Anders again. “I finished with all the necessary paperwork during the day, so there’s nothing left for me to do.” She said, stealing a chance to catch her breath.
Anders stared at her, his gaze lingering longer than should. He watched as her chest heaved up and down in a perfect rhythm and he imagined them doing that without that shirt on. Just her bare body on his bed, heaving like that, after he must have taken her on a marathon. That ungodly thought had his dick getting hard, and his pants suddenly felt so tight, he had to adjust them to breathe properly.
“I see that you are that free, good.” He said, and Veil didn’t fail to notice his eyes turning a shade darker as he stared at her… breasts? Then gradually, his eyes crept up to her face and he held her gaze. “That means I can give you as much work as needed to keep you working overtime.” He said clearly stating his motive. “Come with me…”
With that, he started for the door, but, he soon stopped when he couldn’t hear Veil following behind him. Turning around, he saw her just standing there.
“Do you have a problem with your legs? You can rest today if you want…”
Veil’s hopes were suddenly skyrocketing, but he immediately smashed them to the ground.
“… but I hope you understand that you will still have to work overtime to replace today so you might as well get it started and finish as soon as possible. What do you think?”
“I’d rather finish up tonight,” she said, forcing a smile to his face.
Even though she was suffering on her own, she had no idea how much he was battling with himself right now. He felt as though he was the one trapped in his office because he did have some things to look over, yet he decided to sacrifice his rest just so she didn’t get to spend time with another man. But now, it looked like he was also sacrificing his sanity by keeping her here until this hour. Nights came with their own drives, plus, they were alone in the entire office, well, except for the security guards lurking outside the building.
She was a temptation he was trying to fight every day. If she had just been any other woman, he would have found his way into her pants a long time ago, after all, that was all he was interested in, right? But, she was a member of his staff. Office romance with his secretary wasn’t something he could just kick start, plus, he was certain she wasn’t the kind of woman who gets easily thrilled by looks and affluence. That, she had proved at the club that night.
Thinking back to that night, he snorted. She had actually hit him in the face because he had touched her. Well, he wouldn’t say he had been a gentleman there. Probably, if he had been any less of a pervert, they’d probably have gone far by now. But, he wasn’t the gentlemanly kind of guy, he never had been.
Now that he was in the thought of it, he recalled how that ass had felt, so soft and fuckable and he found himself groaning inwardly. He wanted to have her, and it didn’t help that they were alone here and she was wearing a rather skimpy dress today. The whole thing was giving him more than a few inappropriate ideas that he had to shove off and fold in the corner of his mind, but despite how deeply he buried them, they just had a way of resurfacing, every time.
Anders suddenly felt himself sweating profusely. The evening was windy, and the office usually has a modest temperature as there were air conditioners at almost every corner.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
“I can’t believe that I am sweating in such weather…” he muttered to himself, looking around for his kerchief. He battled through his suit and pants pocket, but he couldn’t find it there. He looked around for it, but still there was none. He was about to groan in frustration when suddenly he felt something press against his forehead.
He froze solid like an ice statue on realizing what was happening. Veil was pressing a handkerchief to his forehead.
He was able to confirm it when he looked down at her and saw her staring at him with worry evident in her sea green eyes.
“Sea green eyes!” He thoughts to himself as he took a closer look at them. They were beautiful. How had he not noticed them until now? Certainly because he had been too busy studying her body alone all day for his night activities.
“Are you attracted to me?” Anders’ brows dragged up inquisitively, jolting Veil to reality. With cheeks as red as an overly ripped tomato, and face burning like they had been heat against hot coal, she jerked away from him, allowing the handkerchief to fall into his own fingers that for a moment, had been frozen in place, but now, worked fine.
“I-I am sorry, I-I should have just given it to you, I don’t know what came over….”
“I asked you a question, Ms. Hart.” Anders said, cutting through Veil’s apology. “Do you find me attractive?” He expression was stoic, not giving anything away. One could barely tell his state of mind from his face.
“Huh!” Veil asked, perplexed by the sudden question. What was he talking about? “Uh… No sir,” she noticed Anders brows crease into a frown the moment she said that. She smiled to herself. “You’re very handsome, I mean, the world knows that, but, I do not at all find you especially attractive.”
Anders scoffed in disbelief as he listened to those words that stabbed on his ego. How could she not find him especially attractive? He is handsome, has the perfect body, plus wealthy too. Lies, he knew everything she’s said was just a lie. Did she think he hadn’t caught her staring at him on many different occasions?
He looked into her eyes again. Many years in business has thought him quite a lot of things, one of which is reading people through their eyes. A lying eye would waver when confronted, but, a truthful one wouldn’t, and hers didn’t. They stared back at him, not faltering for once. Meaning, she really didn’t find him attractive. Anders scoffed again, this was hard to believe. His chest was burning with anger, he had to adjust his tie to breathe fine.
If she didn’t find him attractive, then who did she? His mind briefly wandered to the man she had been all smiley with the other day, and his expression darkened.
“Do you have a boyfriend?”
