Don’t want to be your canary
Ignoring Madison’s eager anticipation, Jayden walked up to Nina and snaked his hand around her waist with extreme familiarity.
“Are you done buying them?” His lips curled up in a good mood when he saw the faint redness at the tip of her ears.
Nina nodded, not daring to meet his eyes.
With a soft laugh, Jayden pulled her close as he whispered. “I can’t wait to see how beautiful you’ll look in it,”
Nina raised her head, feeling the heat on her face yet to subside when her eyes swept past Jayden and landed on the person behind him.
It was as though she’d been hit with a bucket of ice water, and her face turned cold.
Madison’s expression immediately changed upon seeing Nina.
Slut!
She muttered under her breath when she noticed Nina walk out of the lingerie store.
Her face contorted with jealousy as she watched Jayden’s warm interactions with Nina. She felt a burning knot in her chest as her lips formed a tight line, unable to hide her envy.
Every smile, every touch, and every word exchanged between Jayden and Nina felt like a dagger piercing Madison’s heart. She couldn’t stand the sight of them together.
It should be her in Nina’s place, who deserved Jayden’s affection.
With his arm still wrapped around her, Jayden pulled Nina towards Madison. “I’m here with your aunt,” he finally revealed and smiled apologetically. “Maybe next time I’ll accompany you.
Then, without waiting for her reply, Jayden signaled the manager over.
“This is my niece. Take good care of her and her friends,” he ordered, before turning back to Madison and waving goodbye. “See you at the banquet.”
The manager bowed respectfully and escorted the couple out.
Madison watched as they disappeared from her view. Her heart ached with bitterness, and she desperately wished she could walk up and destroy Nina from the picture.
She knew Jayden’s words were just to coax her. Jayden was busy all year round and barely had time for social outings, much less to accompany her shopping.
The resentment in her heart further grew when she recalled how he could spare so much time for Nina, yet brush her off when she needed his attention the most.
As Madison stood there in a daze, one of her friends cautiously approached her.
“Madison?” Ivy called out gently, trying to snap her friend out of her trance.
“What?” Madison snapped out of her daze and responded irritably, the frustration in her tone apparent.
“Shall we go to the private room now? Everyone’s waiting for you,” Ivy said, her voice tinged with disappointment. Today was supposed to be her birthday celebration, and she had hoped to spend it with her friends, including Madison.Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
After the previous episode, Madison was in no mood to celebrate. “I suddenly don’t feel well, so I’ll pass,” she declined dismissively.
Reaching into her Dior bag, she took out a wrapped gift. “Here, happy birthday to you. I’ll compensate you with a meal another time.”
Without waiting for her response, Madison tossed the gift to Ivy and bid goodbye to her other friends.
Ivy’s face fell as she caught the gift, trying to hide her disappointment. She bit her lip hard, feeling hurt and let down by Madison’s behavior.
As Madison walked away, the others exchanged knowing glances.
They had all been eagerly waiting for Madison to join the celebration. In the end, not only did Madison ignore them, but she also ditched them at the last moment.
They were all part of the same social circle, making it even more perplexing why Madison would act so selfishly during such a special occasion.
However, they knew better than to confront her directly; and could only swallow their grievances.
Just because her status was slightly better than theirs, the young missy felt as though the entire world revolved around her.
Over time, they have been accustomed to her temper. After consoling Ivy, they decided not to dwell on the negativity and continued with the birthday celebration.

The day of the Banquet had arrived.
After wrapping up their work, both Nina and Jayden retreated to their separate spaces to prepare for the grand event.
Jayden entered the spacious walk-in closet and picked up the outfit his wife had meticulously selected for the night.
After changing into the clothes, he fastened his Rolex watch around his wrist, adding the final touch of elegance to his ensemble.
Meanwhile in the dressing room, as Nina finished the last stroke of her makeup, she glimpsed herself in the mirror and felt satisfied with her appearance.
Just as she walked inside the bedroom, she coincidentally saw Jayden stepping out of the walk-in closet. Their eyes met, and a smile spread across both of their faces.
Nina’s eyes twinkled as she admired Jayden’s outfit. A wife knows her husband the best.
As she took in his dashing appearance, Nina couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride in her impeccable taste.
His perfectly tailored white shirt peeked out from the light blue suit jacket, exuding an air of elegance and sophistication. The combination of the light blue hue with black jeans and leather shoes created a harmonious contrast, adding a touch of youthful charm to his appearance.
Coupled with his handsome face and magnetic aura, he looked like he had just stepped straight out of a romantic drama.
On the other side of the room, Jayden felt a subtle tug in his chest as he admired Nina’s breathtaking appearance. His throat went dry, and he instinctively licked his lips, trying to quell the sudden rush of emotions.
Nina donned a vintage midi dress from her collection, featuring delicate spaghetti straps that gracefully accentuated her figure.
The dress was adorned with intricate dark blue patterns that formed a striking contrast against her fair skin. Every step she took in her black stilettos seemed to steal his breath away, captivating him with her beauty.
With a gentle chuckle, Jayden pulled her into his arms, caressing Nina’s cheek tenderly. “You look breathtaking, babe,” he whispered in his deep, sexy voice.
Nina blushed under his burning gaze and returned the compliment. “You’re not too bad yourself.”
Feeling a surge of desire, Jayden pressed her against the wall, his forehead gently resting against hers. He spoke in a low, husky voice, “What do I do with you, Nina? I want to lock you up all to myself, away from the eyes of others.
Nina’s heart skipped a beat, and she playfully retorted, “I don’t want to be your canary, though.” Before the moment could stretch any longer, she reminded him, “Now stop fooling around. We’d be late for the banquet.”
“It’s all right. The banquet can wait.”
Before Nina could fully comprehend his intentions, Jayden took her by surprise, capturing her lips in a fierce kiss. The couple savored each other’s presence, losing track of time as their hearts raced together.
After what felt like an eternity, they finally pulled apart, their breaths slightly ragged.
Jayden straightened his clothes and then took Nina’s hand in his. “Let’s go,”
Just as the couple reached the door, Jayden suddenly stopped in his tracks. “Wait a moment,” he informed Nina with a gentle squeeze of her hand before turning around and walking back inside their elegant home.
Puzzled, Nina watched as he made his way toward their bedroom, wondering what he was up to.
Soon, he emerged from the bedroom, holding a long black trench coat in his hands. He approached Nina and smoothly wrapped the coat around her shoulders, fastening the buttons gently.
“It’s cold outside,” he reminded her, his voice filled with concern.
A small smile formed on her delicate face, touched by his gesture. Reaching out, she held Jayden’s hand and intertwined their fingers before responding softly.
In the banquet hall of Hotel Grand Grace.
Stephan stood near the entrance, and glanced at his watch for the nth time, growing impatient.
He looked dashing wearing an elegant black embroidery shirt that peeked out from under a stylish black blazer. His entire demeanor exuded nobility and distinction.
The guests had already arrived, yet as the co-host, Jayden, and his wife, Nina, were nowhere to be seen.
“Boss, young miss informed that they are stuck in a traffic jam. They’ll be here in a while,” Stephan’s assistant informed him. He looked around the room, his eyes scanning the crowd. “Are Master and Madam Luxton not here yet?” he inquired.
Stephan let out a faint grunt of acknowledgment.
Speak of the devil, he noticed the manager leading Jayden and Nina toward the banquet room.
Stephan sighed in relief as he greeted them warmly. “You sure know how to make the crowd wait.”
“Sorry for the delay,” Nina explained apologetically.
“The traffic was dreadful,” Jayden added, his lips curling up in a good mood.
Stephan saw the lipstick marks on Jayden’s lips and snorted, not exposing his best friend’s bullshit.
“Let’s go inside. The kids will be here soon.”
The trio gracefully made their way into the grand banquet room, where the event was in full swing. All eyes turned to Jayden and Nina as they entered, emanating an aura of power that demanded attention.
Almost everyone in Spring City had heard about Jayden’s young wife, but many had dismissed it as just another baseless rumor. Tonight, witnessing the couple’s undeniable chemistry, they were convinced of the truth.
While the men admired Jayden’s choice and saw Nina as a fortunate catch, the women couldn’t help but feel envious, knowing that an outstanding man like him was no longer single.
Among the envious women was Madison, whose eyes shot daggers at Nina.
If looks could kill, Nina would’ve already died a thousand times under her murderous gaze.
“Madison, when did your uncle get married? Previously, when I heard the news from my father, I thought he was joking. I didn’t expect it to be true,” one of Madison’s friends asked curiously.
Madison’s expression changed slightly, and a mocking smile curled her lips. “Married? LJ is just playing with her.”
“What?” The people around Madison were shocked at the revelation.
“She’s just a slut with no background who seduced LJ by climbing into his bed. Eventually, he will dump her,” Madison declared haughtily, her eyes filled with malice.
