The CEO Gets What He Wants

Chapter 455

Chapter 455

When Avery realized that Jeffrey, Cayden, and Kendrick were all staring at her, sheer mortification swamped her.

She promptly apologized to Jeffrey. “I'm sorry, Old Mr. Moore. I was thinking about something else just now. I'll make a trip home when I'm off during the weekend to ask Grandpa and Aunt Alina when they'll be free. Then, I'll notify you. Is that okay?”

In response, Jeffrey chuckled heartily. “Sure. At that time, I'll have a meal with your grandfather and flip through the calendar to find a suitable date for the presentation of betrothal gifts. We still need to observe the necessary formalities.”

The man was advanced in years, so Cayden naturally comprehended the importance he attached to tradition.

It also went without saying that Cayden was inwardly over the moon after obtaining his grandfather's approval for his wedding with Avery. “We'll go with your plan, Grandpa. Avery and I will get engaged as soon as possible. Then, we'll start making preparations for the wedding. She's already two months pregnant now. We don't mind waiting, but the same can't be said of your great-grandchild, Grandpa.”

Snagging his cane, Jeffrey lightly rapped the grandson he doted on most. “What a sc*mbag! You knew that, yet you got her pregnant before marriage. Take good care of Ery. She seems to have lost weight to me. Did you not feed her anything nutritious, huh?” Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

Conversely, embarrassment flooded Avery, for she had actually gained weight since her pregnancy.

Thanks to her craving for sweets and eating additional meals each day, she had gained almost ten

pounds within the mere two months she had been pregnant.

Fortunately, she was slender in the first place, so it wasn't all that obvious.

In truth, she was a touch worried that she would resemble a rotund penguin by her third trimester if she didn't start controlling her food intake.

Thus, she interjected sheepishly after Cayden was unjustly reprimanded by his grandfather, “Old Mr. Moore, Cayden is taking impeccable care of me. I eat plenty every day, more than enough for the baby in my belly to absorb the nutrients required. Pregnant women can't overindulge. Otherwise, it'll lead to the baby being overnourished. At that time, it might cause obstructed labor.”

At once, Jeffrey's eyes went wide. “Are you serious? All my other old friends have their housekeepers cook all kinds of nutritious food when their granddaughters-in-law are pregnant so that the babies turn out smart and healthy. Unfortunately, I had just launched my business when my wife was pregnant. Our living conditions were mediocre, and she suffered a lot alongside me. But still, I scrimped and saved to buy her a myriad of supplements. Later, she truly gave birth to a healthy and chubby son.”

As he spoke of his late wife, intense nostalgia showed on his regal face.

Upon recalling his dastardly only son who died at a young age, however, he lamented with a sigh, “What a pity! Bruce was smart. Alas, he put it to the wrong use and became a womanizer. Verily, he was a sc*mbag. The only good thing he did was to give me an outstanding grandson such as Cayden. Ah, that's all in the past. Say, why am I reminiscing about it all? Cayden, you must pamper and protect Ery while she's pregnant. Make sure that she doesn't suffer any grievances.”

Pinning his tapered ebony eyes on Avery, Cayden gazed at her indulgently and chuckled soundlessly.

He grasped her hand tightly. “Avery is my life, Grandpa. How could I possibly allow her to suffer any grievances when I love her to the core? Don't worry. I'll take good care of her and our kids.”

His tender gaze first alighted on Avery's exquisite face before shifting to the twins, who were listening to the conversation with great interest, their cheeks propped on both hands.

My waiting and longing throughout the years are indeed worth it!

Inherently mischievous, Kendrick couldn't help teasing his brother at the sight of the latter gazing at Avery lovingly. “Tsk-tsk, look, Grandpa. Cayden hasn't even married Avery, but he's already head over heels in love with her. Say, will he become a henpecked husband after getting married?”

Hearing that, Jeffrey swung his gaze to his second grandson, who wore a cheeky smile on his face. Without warning, he raised his cane and hit Kendrick's calf. “Your brother's third child is already in the making, but you're still single and available. You can't even get yourself a wife. What an embarrassment to the Moore family!”

“Gosh, I'm already in my twenties, Grandpa! Can you please have mercy on me and not lay into me in front of everyone? It's humiliating.”

While screeching from his grandfather's strike, Kendrick leaped up from his seat like a monkey and scampered far away.

Good Lord! He's already up in years, but he still doesn't hold back when he wallops someone with his cane!

“Mommy, are you really going to marry Daddy?” Rory asked as though in disbelief, tugging at the hem of Avery's shirt.

Avery gently wiped the corners of her daughter's mouth with a tissue. “Yeah. I'm going to marry your daddy soon. You and Zach shall be our page boy and flower girl then. Is that okay?”

“Yes!”

Rory snuggled in her mother's embrace.

She flashed her brother a peace sign, her juvenile voice brimming with anticipation. “Zach, we'll be Mommy and Daddy's page boy and flower girl then. I'm so happy!”

Zachary nestled beside Avery. He didn't say anything, but a smile adorned his handsome face. He grinned so widely that his teeth were in plain sight, making his elation evident.

Mommy is going to marry Daddy! There's nothing more joyous than this!

The fact that Jeffrey approved of her wedding with Cayden put Avery in a great mood.

Subsequently, the family of four returned to the mansion. When Avery straightened up the room, she casually placed her handbag down.

Before going to work the next day, she switched to a bigger handbag in consideration of the need to bring a sizeable document along.

Glancing at the time, she found that she was running behind. She hurriedly rushed to the office, forgetting all about the disk she previously stuffed into the handbag.

The days went past leisurely. Due to Avery's good mood, work was smooth sailing for her throughout the week. Her relationship with Cayden also grew increasingly sweet.

In the blink of an eye, Saturday came around.

Avery and Cayden brought the twins to Blake's place.

Since they were going there to discuss something important, Avery phoned Alina in advance. By the time they arrived at Blake's house, Alina was already there.

“Great-grandad, Grand-aunt, we're here to visit you!” As soon as the twins stepped into the house, Rory threw herself into Blake's arms while Zachary shyly gave Alina a kiss.

Blake was incredibly excited as he hugged his great-grandson, whom he hadn't seen in a long time. “I missed you both so much, kiddos! I missed you every day!”

Grabbing Avery's hand, he said to Alina, “Ery loves chicken fingers and lemon butter fish, so get more chicken and fish. What does Cayden like to eat? Ery, tell Alina the answer later so that she can buy the ingredients back.”

Tall and handsome, Cayden stood elegantly in the living room. His long legs, which could give supermodels a run for their money, were striking and gave him a strong sense of presence.

“Grandpa, Aunt Alina, there's no need to go to such trouble. I came with Avery today to discuss our wedding. We've decided to get married on the first of May.”
