Arya panicked slightly on seeing Kyle’s uncomfortable state, she reached her hands out to his face cupping it with her palms..

“Kyle?”

Kyle’s eyes clenched trying to wade off the excruciating pain he was feeling, he felt like his head might explode any second if he didn’t stop whatever he was doing…

Bryan and Chloe stopped dancing when they heard Arya’s voice, they exchanged brief glances wondering what was wrong..

“I think something is wrong.. I’ll go check it out” Chloe murmured holding her dress up with her two hands..

Bryan watched her back moving when his attention was suddenly diverted to the stage light making a creaking noise above them….

He reached his arm out to Chloe and pulled her back into his arms and away from the lights that came crashing next to them..

Arya stood up to her feet when the door to Kyle’s ward opened, Chad stepped out with a faint smile on his lips..

“How is he Chad?.. he was feeling a bit uncomfortable a while ago and we had to bring him here”

Arya forced a smile at him, she gave a small. nod to his words, she had tried a lot.. no doubt but regardless, she wanted Kyle to recognize her once more..

She missed having those cute little fights with him, their early morning banters and his jealous state whenever Ray gives her more attention than him..

“He’s absolutely fine.. and can also leave, he needs a lot of rest, we’ve stressed his brain enough for today”

Meanwhile….

Chloe smacked Bryan’s arm when he tried to stop the nurse from treating the small cuts on his hand, he sustained some injuries while trying to save her from the falling lights..

“Ouch! you’re only adding to my injuries!”

The nurse giggled softly, this was the reverse case of every normal couples she had come across for a while..

“Ma’am, I think your boyfriend is just being cute.. not everyone is as lucky as you are..”

Chloe’s lips parted to speak but couldn’t find out the right words to use, she saw the grin spreading across Bryan’s face..

“He’s definitely not my boyfriend! don’t you know that he’s getting engaged tomorrow to the love of his life? oh.. and if you really want to attend the engagement ceremony, I have an invitation card.. I really don’t want it to go to waste.. so…”

The nurse grinned from ear to ear but it was suddenly replaced with a tight smile when a pair of chilling dark orbs bore into her soul..

“Ouch!”

Bryan screamed out once more as soon as the cotton wool was dabbed on his hand..

“Does it hurt that much?”

In as much as she wanted to stay far away from him, she was still worried about him, given that he risked his life to save hers..

Bryan nodded to her question, her worried gaze fell on him once more..

“Where does it hurt the most?”

Bryan pointed to his chest, she raised her hand to his chest trying to soothe the pain of whatever he was feeling..

But.. the lights never fell on his chest so what was going on through his mind?

“I hurt my hands.. but this spot hurts the most”

The nurse turned red and picked up the tray leaving the ward for the both of them, well one thing was for sure, the said engagement won’t take place..

The door burst open as Lora and her mum rushed into his ward, when they heard that something had happened to him a while ago at the theatre, they had to drop everything they were doing to get here on time..

Lora’s face darkened, her gaze fell on Chloe’s hand that was still on Bryan’s chest..

She walked in fast steps towards Chloe and pulled the latter’s hand off Bryan and after which shoving her off his side..

She took the spot Chloe was sitting on a while ago, which was next to Bryan..

“Are you hurt?”

Bryan docked out of her touch before she could even reach out to him, he sat up suddenly feeling a lot irritated about her presence..

“Why did you come over? the doctor asked you not to stress yourself too much..”

Chloe made an attempt to leave but was held back by Lora who wore a fake smile..

She left Bryan’s side and stood right in front of Chloe..

“Thanks for looking after my boyfriend.. I’m very grateful, I hope you’re coming to our engagement party tomorrow evening?”

Chloe took a glance at Bryan before facing Lora equally with a forced smile..

“I’d love to.. but sadly I won’t be able to make it, I have a lot of work to do tomorrow..”

Lora’s lips pulled up into a scorn filled smile, she didn’t miss the look that crossed Chloe’s face, even if it was just for a second..

Alice on the other hand was feeling quite bad about this whole scenario but what could she do? her daughter’s life was at state here..

“Why won’t you come? are you perhaps scared of something?”

Chloe took a glance at Bryan who just spoke, he was obviously trying to force words out of her mouth but guess what? she wasn’t going to fall that..

“Not at all.. I’m just worried that I might overshadow the bride to be if I attend.. and if you’ll excuse me, I have to meet up with someone today.. so happy engagement in advance”

She declared and left the ward..

Lora returned back to Bryan’s side and took a seat beside him on the bed..
