Chapter 1975

Georgia thought that tears were her ultimate weapon. In her mind, a few drops could manipulate any situation to her favor.

As soon as the words left her mouth, Alaric, visibly disgusted, pushed her away. His face hardened as he snapped, "Georgia, that's rich, playing the victim now, are we? I saw you charging at Hertha, fists ready. She was just defending herself. A slap was the least you deserved."

Alaric, showing his distaste, shook his hands as if he had touched something filthy just by grabbing Georgia's collar.

Seeing his repulsed expression, Georgia's suppressed anger bubbled up like lava, threatening to engulf her.

Not only did Alaric push her away, but he also looked at her as if she was something he needed to wipe off his hands. How much more could he possibly despise her?

Georgia was devastated. Yet, in front of Alaric, she couldn't afford to be her usual haughty self. Her mother had warned her that if she didn't tame her temper, she could kiss her dreams of being with Alaric goodbye.

She needed to appear vulnerable in front of Alaric, to cry and make him feel sorry for her.

Holding back her fury, Georgia let the tears fall freely, giving Alaric a pitiful look. "Alaric, I'm sorry. I was too impulsive. It's okay if she insults me, but when she insulted my friend, I almost lost it. Can you forgive me just this once?"

Her friends quickly rallied around her, offering their support.

Alaric was taken aback by Georgia's apology, her sudden show of submission.

But no matter how she presented herself now, she couldn't evoke even a shred of sympathy from him.

Alaric glanced at her coldly. "You realize your mistake, yet you're still here? Get lost."

Georgia's pride was shattered. She trembled with silent rage, wanting to scream at Alaric for siding with Hertha over her.

But her mother's words echoed in her ears, keeping her anger at bay, even as she struggled to contain it.

Continuing her charade, Georgia

sobbed, "Alaric, why are you being so harsh? Remember, there's a child between us. You're his father.

Imagine how scared he'd be seeing you treat me like this." Content

Hertha couldn't stand it anymore. So Georgia was still playing her games.

"Georgia, you dare bring up the child?" Hertha interjected.

The child wasn't even Georgia's. She had hired an orphan from the local orphanage to play the part.

Alaric, worried that Hertha would

distance herself over the mention of the child-a ticking time bomb in their relationship-quickly stepped between the two women.

He sternly told Georgia, "I already told you to leave the kid with the Falconer family. I'm done with the Falconers."

"Hey, Alaric, are you being serious right now?" Hertha tugged at his sleeve, incredulous at his implication that Georgia's child was indeed his.

Alaric, feeling guilty for hurting Hertha, glanced at her sheepishly, "Hertha, let me explain later."

Seeing Alaric soften slightly at the

mention of the child, Georgia continued her act, "The child is sick,

running a high fever. He's been calling for his daddy in his sleep. Please, go see him..." Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
