Chapter 1970

Hertha thought she must have misheard. She couldn't even be bothered to shrug off Alaric's hand resting on her shoulder, her eyes wide with curiosity as she stared at his strikingly handsome profile. "What did you just say?"

"I said, pick any car you like, and I'll pay for it. Don't be shy!" Noticing Hertha's excitement, Alaric proudly ran his index finger lightly across her cheek.

Hertha swatted his hand away, annoyed. "Stop that, acting like you're rolling in cash all of a sudden. Come on, how much money do you even have in your account? You say I can have any car I want, but can you actually afford a Ferrari?"

In Hertha's eyes, Alaric was nothing but a down-and-out rich boy, kicked out and cut off by his family!

She couldn't believe that Angelina, after kicking Alaric out, wouldn't freeze his bank accounts!

From what Hertha knew about Angelina, to force Alaric into submission, she would surely cut off all his financial resources. That way, Alaric would have no choice but to crawl back and marry Georgia as planned.

"Hey, Hertha, do I really seem that pathetic to you? I can afford a car," Alaric said, pinching Hertha's cheek gently.

There was a domineering yet doting quality to his action.

To anyone looking on, it would seem incredibly sweet.

Remembering how close they had been to a kiss just moments earlier, and now with his affectionate gesture, Hertha's heart skipped a beat uncontrollably.

Her cheeks flushed with a slight red hue.

Perhaps it was fear, the fear of her own heart getting flustered, that made Hertha hastily push Alaric's hand away.

"Stop touching me, who said you could pinch my cheeks?" As soon as she finished speaking and realized Alaric's arm was still around her shoulder, Hertha pushed his arm away, visibly frustrated.

"Just go buy the car yourself. I'm not going," Hertha said, turning away and walking in the opposite direction.

She hadn't taken more than a few steps before Alaric pulled her back. "Why should I go buy a car by myself if it's for you?"

Hertha shook him off, not daring to look back. "That's your problem, not mine."

She had finally made up her mind that she would no longer have anything to do with Alaric.

She couldn't let Alaric's flirtations confuse her.

"Hertha, you said it yourself, I'm the father of our kids, I can see them whenever I want. Why are you going back on your word now?" belongs to NovelDrama.Org

Alaric grabbed hold of Hertha's sleeve, refusing to let her go.

He was getting anxious now.

He had thought buying her a car was a simple thing, but Hertha's attitude was tougher than a rock in a cesspool; she was completely indifferent to his offer. Content

"I never said you weren't the kids' father," Hertha responded as she continued to walk away from him.

"Why don't you want my car, then?" Alaric was genuinely puzzled.

He followed Hertha, his face shifting from a mischievous smile to a frown.

In the past, whenever he mentioned buying a car for a woman, they would be over the moon, grinning from ear to ear.

He had assumed Hertha would react the same way.

After all, didn't Hertha immediately accept the two million Angelina offered her without a second thought?

Hertha suddenly stopped and turned around, glaring at him irritably. "What does you being the kids' father have to do with me not wanting your car? It's the same

do with whether I want you or not!"

She couldn't understand Alaric's logic at all.

Hertha's blunt words hit Alaric hard, causing a pang of pain in his heart.

Hertha didn't want him, so naturally, she didn't want his car either.
