The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet

Chapter 1926

Kimberly was about to say something else when Hertha interjected, "I'll go get the door."

"Isn't he outside?" Kimberly asked, confused.

"He's a guest, and he's got two kids with him," Hertha replied curtly, not wasting any more time and pulling open the kitchen door.

As soon as she stepped out, she saw Alaric, about to open the door with two children in his arms.

"Stay with the kids, I'll get the door," Hertha told him.

Alaric paused, then went back to the play mat with the kids, who were clearly overjoyed to see him. They clung to him, wanting him to join in their Lego building game. Normally, Alaric would find such a game childish, but playing with the kids, he found it surprisingly fun.

Reaching the door, Hertha opened it, expecting to see Thalassa, and was all smiles. However, her smile froze when she saw the two elderly figures standing there instead. The kindly looking grandmother, smiling warmly, and the grandfather, whose stern face softened into a kind expression upon smiling.

It took Hertha a second to realize they were Alaric's grandparents!

Why were Alaric's grandparents here at her place?

A wave of panic washed over Hertha. Just moments ago, her mother was worrying about Alaric's family finding out about the children and wanting to take them away. And now, here they were!

Hertha's mind raced with anxiety as she instinctively stepped back, gripping the door tightly, half-tempted to slam it shut and pretend she never saw them.

Just as she was about to act on that impulse, Beatrice stepped forward, her face beaming with kindness, "Hertha, Remington and I brought you something. We weren't sure what you liked, so we picked up a Hermès bag. It's just a little something, please accept it."

With that, Beatrice extended the bag towards her.

Hertha's eyes widened at the sight of the Hermès logo on the bag-the contents were undoubtedly expensive!

She couldn't possibly accept such a lavish gift.

"No, no, you really shouldn't have. Please, take it back," Hertha protested, trying to refuse the gift.

"It's okay, take it. It's a welcome gift from us," Beatrice insisted, pushing the gift into Hertha's hands.

As they were caught in this

back-and-forth at the door, Alaric hearing the commotion, came out and was surprised to see his grandparents. "Grandma, Grandpa, what brings you here?"

At the sound of his voice, Beatrice and Remington looked up, and after a brief pause, Beatrice said more warmly, "Oh, Alaric, we're here! We should have called you first."

"Daddy, you haven't finished building the train set with us."

The kids were sticking close to Alaric, missing his presence the moment he stepped away.

Their sweet, tender voices reached Remington and Beatrice's ears, visibly exciting them.

Beatrice craned her neck, trying to catch a glimpse inside, "Oh, are those the children? Such sweet voices..."

Her expression was filled with love and warmth.

Hertha's heart sank. She knew all

too well what Beatrice and Remington had hoped for-to hold. their great-grandchildren. Three years ago, Beatrice had arranged for her and Alaric to share a room, with the clear intention of welcoming a new generation. And clearly, their desire hadn't changed.
