Chapter 1897
Alaric paused for a moment, then obediently swallowed the medicine.
He could tell from Hertha's last words that she was genuinely concerned about him. Though her manner was forceful, it oddly made him feel at ease. At least her assertiveness came from a place of care.
This was a stark contrast to Georgia's domineering nature. Georgia's overbearing attitude was designed to belittle him, making him feel unworthy. She never truly cared for him.
But Hertha, though she was pressing him to drink the bitter medicine, did so for his benefit. Realizing this, Alaric felt much more comfortable. The once bitter medicine even seemed to have a hint of sweetness.
Under Hertha's assertive guidance, Alaric soon finished the entire dose.
Lydia said, "Lie down and rest for an hour or two, and you'll start to feel better. After that, you can have a normal meal."
“I feel like having buffalo wings," Alaric suddenly found his appetite.
Lydia paused while packing her first aid kit and looked up, "Everyone knows that when you're sick, you should avoid spicy and cold food." Then, she resumed her task.
Hertha gave Alaric a disapproving glance, "Really, you're acting less mature than a three-year-old. Even they know better than to eat spicy food when sick."
Alaric quickly surrendered, "Alright, alright. No buffalo wings for me."
As Lydia was about to leave with her kit, Thalassa stepped forward, "Lydia, let me walk out with you."
Seeing Lydia and Thalassa leaving, Hertha hurriedly tossed the empty medicine packet into the trash, "I'll come with you guys."
Alaric panicked.
It was Ethan who voiced the concern Alaric dared not express, "If you go, who will take care of Alaric?"
He stepped forward, blocking Hertha's path.
Alaric looked gratefully at Ethan's back, thankful his best friend understood him so well.
Hertha replied, “Isn't Ethan here? He can look after you. After two hours, whatever you want to eat, he can go get it for you."
"I need to rest. You might think it's just my eyes that are hurt, but my stomach, my whole body is in
agony. feel like I'm falling apart et
I
need to sleep and recover," Ethan
said, even clutching his stomach to emphasize his pain.
"Can't you wait another two hours? Or just lie down next to him and rest together," Hertha suggested, trying to leave.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
Ethan quickly grabbed her, "That won't do! How could I possibly lie with him? That's just improper!"
He even glanced worriedly at Lydia, who was still standing by the door, not yet gone.
He really wasn't into guys.
“What's so improper about it? You've been best friends for years, haven't you ever shared a bed?" Hertha shook off Ethan's hand.
Her words startled both Ethan and Alaric.
Ethan quickly exchanged a look with Alaric, seeing that he too was shocked.
Ethan hurriedly tried to clear the air, "We've never shared a bed, swear on my life if you don't believe it, ask Richard or Lysander! Have Thalassa call Lysander; he'll tell you the truth, and Lysander never lies."
Ethan was perhaps a little too eager to defend their honor.
Thalassa chimed in, "Lysander wouldn't bother with such trivial stuff. Besides, there were times it was just the two of you, and Lysander wasn't there. How Could he know everything?"
Thalassa's sly remark left everyone speechless.
