The talk
Sofie’s POV
I walked into the house, with a tired sigh escaping my lips as I nodded a greeting to Antonio and the maids.
I had gone out to put some things related to the continuation of my studies in place, but I still hadn’t told Roman about my educational plans yet because I was slightly scared that he’d be against it.
Although, something within me knew Roman wasn’t like that.
Glancing at the time on my phone screen, I discovered that it was quite late in the evening and I’d been out for a longer period than I expected.
Roman should have been back from the company by now because he usually arrived home by exactly some minutes to six in the evening, and currently, the time was ten minutes to seven.
He had also not sent me a message to inform me that he’d come home late from work that day.
Well, it wasn’t like I had the right to know of his whereabouts anyway, I was just a pawn in his game of pretense.
A pawn who he knew would always be at his beck, and call whenever he needed a hole to empty his cum into.
Maybe he was with another woman. A voice in my head treacherously supplied as the lewd image of Roman sexually entwined with a a faceless woman flashed through my mind.
Get over it, Sofie. You’re doing more harm than good to yourself by dwelling on your stupid feelings which Roman would never reciprocate. I chided myself.
The man is a playboy who will be on to the next available pussy as soon as your contract ends, you are only going to hurt yourself if you don’t stop your idiotic heart from falling harder for him. I further admonished myself.
With a sharp exhale, I peeled off my clothes, and left them in a puddle before I stepped into the shower to wash myself clean of the stress I had gone through that day. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
When I stepped out of the bedroom after donning a casual outfit with the aim of heading downstairs for dinner, Melissa was at the door with a courteous smile curving her lips.
“Good evening, madam. Will you like to have dinner now or will you wait until young master is done with his work in the study?” She asked which made my face contort in a perplexed grimace.
So Roman had gotten home already.
“Roman is home?” I made sure and she nodded.
“Yes, madam. He asked after you when he came back before retiring to the study.”
“I will have dinner later with him then.” I replied, to which she nodded again and turned around to leave.
“Melissa, wait.” I started and she halted, and whipped her body around to face me.
“Yes, madam. Do you need anything?”
“Yes, I do. Do you mind showing me where the study is? I haven’t been to a lot of rooms in this mansion and I tend to get lost easily.” I explained and she smiled warmly.
“Of course, madam. This way please.” She motioned to the staircase and I nodded appreciatively as I quietly trailed behind her to the third floor.
The third floor was like an entirely different section of the mansion.
The entire wing looked like a medieval-themed hallway with framed pictures of victorian era-esque men, and a slightly newer picture of a surprisingly young man who bore an uncanny resemblance to Roman.
“That is the young master’s dad. Sir Rocco, the lord rest his soul.” Melissa said solemnly as she stared sadly at the picture.
It was then I realized that I had never seen anything related to Roman’s parents in the mansion before nor had he himself said anything related to them.
“He must have died quite young.” I muttered as we walked away from the picture.
“Yes, he did.” She agreed, but didn’t say anything more as we stopped in front of a door.
It wasn’t my place to be inquisitive, so I left it at that.
“Here we are, madam. I will be on my way now.” She bowed and left.
I heaved a deep sigh before knocking twice on the door.
Roman’s deep voice came, muffled, “Come in.”
I pushed the door open and beheld him sitting behind a desk which was heaped with books, a pair of reading glasses rested on his nose bridge and an iPad was also placed face down on the desk.
His lips curved into a smile as beckoned me over, “Where were you earlier today? I called the house to check up on you but you weren’t around and when I got back from work, you were still not here.”
I gingerly propped myself on his lap, “You could have just called my phone, you know.”
“Yeah I forgot about that.” He chuckled, tracing lines down my hips as he peered into my eyes.
I flushed as his stare intensified while I woefully failed to form a sentence in my head.
Stop staring at me, you gorgeous bastard who will never be mine, I thought.
“Something is bothering you, delicata. What is it?” He read into my mind as his expression morphed into that of concern.
Or maybe I was just reading too much into things at that point.
“Flaunting your italian lineage now, aren’t we?” I scoffed, trying to sound nonchalant, and Roman chuckled.
“Don’t try to change the subject, Sofie. What’s wrong?” The smile had been wiped off his face, and he had also stopped tracing lines down my skin.
He was serious.
“I’m going to back to college next week,” His expression was unreadable and I interrupted it as budding ire, “I know I should have told have told you about this before I bought the form. I’m sorry I didn’t m-” The rest of the sentence were hitched in my throat as Roman’s lips came crashing down on mine.
“What are you apologizing for?” He asked, interlacing our fingers together.
I shrugged, “I-I honestly don’t know. I just thought you’d be mad that I did it without consulting you first.”
“There’s no reason why I would be mad that you are trying to advance in your education, cara.”
A wave is relief surged through me as I stared into his eyes, “Really?”
“Really.” He said, and kissed me again.
“I’m glad.” I whispered as a thought floated into my mind.
How could I ever get over this man, when he kept giving me mixed signals?
