Chapter 595
Chapter 595
The video on the screen was of Penelope with Pete, who was the son of the Lindberg family’s butler.
If this video got out, it could fetch a pretty penny.
But right now,
Charlie wasn’t after money.
She wanted leverage at Epic Entertainment.
From the start, she figured this video would come in handy someday.
And that day had come sooner than expected.
Charlie secured the video carefully, knowing it was time for a little chat with Allison.
This time, she was confident Allison wouldn’t turn her down.
Patty might be too chicken to cross Penelope, but Charlie wasn’t. If this video got out, Penelope could Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
kiss her dream of marrying into the Lindbergs goodbye, and Lucian would stop defending her.
At the Lindberg estate.
Miranda had been feeling under the weather lately and had ventured to the church early in the morning
to pray, donate, and listen to the sermon.
She even had lunch there, observing a day of quiet reflection and prayer.
She didn’t return until the afternoon.
Martha had prepared some afternoon tea. “Madam, please have something to eat.”
“And Carter?”
“Mr. Lucian has returned. He’s upstairs. Mr. Carter just woke up from his nap. They’re in the study.”
Miranda took a sip of her jasmine tea. “Lucian is back?”
A spark of joy lit up her eyes.
Martha smiled as she poured more tea. “He just got back not ten minutes ago.”
Miranda said, “I haven’t seen him in a few days. Good he remembers the way home.”
Martha continued, “Ms. Flanagan called earlier saying she made some delicious cake and would bring
some over soon. Should be on her way by now, almost here.”
“Hmm.” Miranda set down her teacup. “Tell me, what’s going through Lucian’s head? He agreed to the
engagement with Penelope, but keeps putting off setting a date. My health’s not getting any better, and
I just want to hold my grandchild.”
“It’s just a matter of time, Madam. Don’t worry.”
While Martha spoke, the doorbell rang, and there stood Margo pushing Penelope in a wheelchair.
Penelope held a box of pastries in her hands. “Miranda, I heard you’ve been feeling poorly, so I baked
some treats for you to try.”
Miranda looked at Penelope with a smile. Her gaze was falling to Penelope’s legs. “How are you?
Much better, I hope? Nearly back to normal?”
Penelope replied, “I’m alright. Thanks for your concern. Miranda, I noticed Lucian’s car outside. Is he
back?”
Miranda said, “You two must be telepathic, so fated. Lucian just got back about ten minutes ago, and
here you are. He’s in Carter’s study upstairs.”
Penelope glanced upwards. “Miranda, try the cake I made with my own hands. Let me know what you
think?” She had made sure the servants prepared it to perfection.
Miranda loved the flavor of this kind of cake. It was a delicacy from Nova Haven that was hard to come
by in the north. “Penelope, your baking skills are getting better and better.”
“Miranda, if you like it, I’ll bring you more tomorrow.”
“Of course, I’d love that. I’m just worried about you. You’ve just recovered and here you are baking for
me. Don’t overdo it. Rest well, and recover fully. Then, I can look forward to holding a grandchild
sooner.”
