Chapter 424
Chapter 424
Grace said to Allison, “I was wondering why you’ve been coming home so early lately, and it turns out you’ve changed jobs. That gig at Red Jack Club was a real grind, with you working the graveyard shift and all. Heading into acting, now that’s a smart move. Just take it easy, don’t rush it. You’re a pretty thing. With some hard work, you’ll surely make a name for yourself.”
Allison, arm in arm with Grace, rested her head on Grace’s shoulder, “Mom, once I start earning, I’ll get us a bigger place. We’ll get regular health check-ups and I’ll buy you the best medicine. You’ll be as fit as a fiddle. I hope you could always be with me.”
“Silly girl, I can’t always be with you. I need my alone time too.”
Cathy’s film-making style was deeply artistic and her shots were visually stunning without being vapid. She had a knack for nailing the rhythm of the storyline. Her coming-of-age films were guaranteed to rake in at least seven to eight hundred million in box office.
No wonder Lucian asked her why she turned down the lead role for a supporting one. A go-getting man like Lucian must be miffed by her refusal.
Allison was actually a big fan of Cathy’s films. Just last year, she went to see her film Forward with Daisy.
Cathy had a way with colors that resulted in visually striking scenes, a clear indication of her high aesthetic sense.
Grace excused herself to the restroom. Her phone, left on the sofa, rang and the screen lit up.
Allison glanced at the screen and saw that Grace was reading news about Penelope. Her heart sank. Semetimes, she just couldn’t comprehend why Grace was so attached to Penelope.
As a child, Grace was always kind to Penelope. Whenever Leah scolded Penelope, Grace would secretly comfort her and would even share her favorite chocolates with her, as if Penelope was Grace’s own daughter.
This wasn’t the first time she thought this way. The first time she had this thought, it took her by surprise, but now…
Grace returned and sat down next to Allison.
Allison lowered her head and murmured, “Penelope has woken up.”
A look of delight crossed Grace’s face, “Really?” NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
Allison nodded, “Yeah.”
“That’s great. I knew it, Ms. Flanagan would pull through.”
Hospital.
Penelope had taken painkillers, but the pain from the fracture didn’t subside. She had been irritable these past few days. Although Miranda had visited her a few times and promised a wedding with Lucian once she recovered, Lucian hadn’t visited her again.
Leah blamed her for being impatient, but how could Penelope not be?
This fracture would take a long time to heal. But with the Lindberg family accepting her after her miscarriage, she had at least achieved her goal.
Today Leah went home, and the nanny and the nurse were resting in the next room. Penelope was in a VIP suite, complete with a small kitchen and a room for the caregivers.
“Margo, can you get me a glass of water?”
Margo came out with a glass of water, “Ms. Flanagan, has your pain lessened?”
Penelope took the glass and drank a few sips, “It still hurts.”
“Ms. Flanagan, please bear with it a little longer. The doctor has said that painkillers can’t be taken frequently. Your condition will improve in a few days.”
Penelope took out her phone, “Okay, I got it. You don’t have to repeat yourself. You can go rest now.”
“Alright, call me if you need anything.” Margo tucked Penelope in, and limped back to her room.
Her leg had been hurting non-stop since she fell down the stairs, all because of that Allison.
