The Billionaire’s Maid Bride

Chapter 407

Chapter 407

Penelope woke up three days later in the afternoon.

The Lindberg family got the news and rushed over immediately.

Miranda looked at Penelope lying in the hospital bed, feeling incredibly grateful. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

Penelope saved her life and now she was in this state – her legs and arms broken, suffering from a moderate concussion, multiple bruises all over her body. And to top it off, she had lost her baby.

Penelope’s gaze landed on Lucian. Her lips trembled, “Lucian, I’m sorry. I couldn’t protect our child.”

Lucian took her hand, “Penelope, don’t worry about it now. Just rest.”

Penelope closed her eyes, tears spilling from the corners.

Miranda walked over and softly consoled her, “Penelope, it’s not your fault. You’ll have another chance at having a child,”

Leah broke down on Christopher’s shoulder, “You guys don’t understand how much Penelope wanted this baby. She checked up every few days, ate balanced meals, and everyone in our family cherished this child. I can’t believe the baby is gone. Penelope, it’s my fault. I should’ve been there for you.”

Penelope whimpered, “Mom, I’m useless. That’s why the baby’s gone.”

Miranda felt guilty, “Penelope, even without this baby, you’re still the best daughter-in-law in my heart. You’re still young. You and Lucian will have a child in the future. The most important thing now is to take good care of yourself.”

Penelope wondered how to win over Miranda even more now that she no longer had the “baby card”.

“Are you okay?” Penelope asked.

Miranda was stunned that Penelope, just having woken up from a coma, was still worried about her.

She held Penelope’s hand, “Penelope, I’m fine. Thank you. Now rest up. Lucian, stay with Penelope.”

Lucian sat by Penelope’s side until she fell asleep again, then left. Back at the Lindberg’s, Miranda called for him, “Lucian.”

“Mom, you’re not sleeping?” It was 2 PM. Miranda hadn’t been feeling well since the accident and usually took a nap in the afternoon.

Miranda sighed, “Lucian, I can see you don’t really like Penelope.” Seeing Lucian’s lips tighten, Miranda knew her son too well. That little gesture meant she was right.

“I know you’re responsible. Penelope saved you and you took her innocence. Now she’s lost the baby trying to save me. We owe her.”

Miranda said.

“Mom, I know what you’re trying to say.” Lucian said.

“Lucian, do you have feelings for Allison?” Miranda suddenly asked.

Lucian hesitated, but didn’t answer. “Mom, just like you said, I don’t plan on marrying Penelope, but I have no choice. When she recovers, we’ll discuss the wedding. I can give her the title if she wants. As for the rest, I’m afraid I can’t give her.”

“Lucian, I’ve known since you were a child that you’re stubborn.” Miranda said, “There are some similarities between Allison and Penelope.”

“I’m attracted to Allison, not because she reminds me of anyone, but because she’s enough on her own.” Lucian stood up and gently patted Miranda’s shoulder, “Mom, go rest. Don’t worry about this. I’ll

handle it.”
