Chapter 886

Marcel had hired a lawyer, but going up against Isaac’s legal eagle was like bringing a butter knife to a

gunfight.

The only person Marcel truly cared about was Leda.

After much deliberation, he made his way alone to Salter Manor.

Ever since her last fainting spell, Grace had become a recluse.

Claiming she was convalescing at home was just a polite way of saying she wanted no part in the

Salter family drama anymore.

When Emily saw Marcel at the door, her face betrayed discomfort. “Grace is still resting; perhaps you

should come back another time,” she suggested.

But Marcel was persistent. “Emily, for the love of my father, please let me see Grace.”

With a heavy sigh, Emily relented and went upstairs to fetch Grace.

About an hour later, Grace descended the staircase slowly.

The back-to-back hospital visits had taken their toll, and even in the sanctuary of her home, she

couldn’t hide the fragility that cloaked her.

“Say what you want now,” she said, settling into a chair without so much as a glance in his direction.

“Grandma, I’m begging you, please spare my mother.”

Grace’s laugh was cold and sharp as ice. “I can hardly bear the weight of that title from

Bri wouldn’t have lost her baby.”

Marcel’s gaze was strange, almost haunted. “Grandmother, even without the accident, would you have

allowed Brittany to keep the child?”

His words pierced her mask of composure, revealing a chilling glint in the kind eyes that had fooled so

many.

“Grandma, we both know that Brittany is digging into the institute’s affairs. If she finds out that you

orchestrated all this, will she forgive you? Will she willingly keep the child? And you know as well as I

do, that child cannot stay!”

Emily listened, her heart pounding with fear.

How much did Marcel know? How dare he confront Grace so brazenly?

Their eyes locked in a silent battle of wills, and for a moment, the tension in the living room was almost

suffocating.

Finally, Grace sneered, “What proof do you have that I was behind the events of that year?” “You were

so desperate to get rid of Joie because you feared she would reveal your secret, weren’t you?”

Marcel had never understood who could be bold enough to fire a gun in Salter Manor, take a life, and

escape scot-free. He could only think of one possibility- Grace had arranged it all to eliminate Joie.

Grace’s smile was distant, and she didn’t speak for a long while.

Finally, she said, “I can’t save Leda. She’s harmed my grandson, Bri, and the unborn child. However, I

can arrange for her to start anew, far from Imperial City,” Grace declared with authority. “In exchange,

you and Manuel must leave Imperial City and never set foot here again!”

After pondering for a moment, Marcel agreed, “Alright.”

Grace gestured dismissively, “Show him out.”

Once Marcel had left, Grace, in a fit of rage, shattered her teacup. “The nerve of him, knowing far too

much.”

Emily stepped forward, concerned. “Please, calm yourself; your health is what matters.

But Grace, overwhelmed with fury, trembled violently and suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood before

collapsing into Emily’s arms.

“Help, Grace has collapsed!”

The household staff rushed in at the call.

Grace was immediately taken to the hospital.

Upon hearing the news, Isaac rushed to the hospital that very night, with Brittany by his side.

Grace’s condition was grim.

Even after undergoing transplant surgery, the successive shocks had left her body in a state of decline.

Brittany examined the medical reports, her knuckles turning white with tension.
