The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart

Chapter 813

Chapter 813

The scandal involving her and the director was the talk of the town, with the internet abuzz with the gossip.

Despite spending a pretty penny to win over the company’s favor, Brittany’s single comment had thrown a wrench into her plans.

After Brittany left, Joie returned to her seat, red-eyed and alone. No one dared approach to offer comfort.

After all, Brittany was the boss’s wife, and they didn’t want to risk her wrath.

Besides, Joie’s scandal had really blown up. Now that she was cozying up to Mr. Salter, it was anyone’s guess what she was really after.

Isaac, upon hearing the news, seemed almost delighted by the drama.

Nathan, on the other hand, was uneasy.

“Mr. Salter, it seems Ms. Dustin isn’t too keen on Ms. Joie. Should we intervene?”

Joie was competent, sure, but there were plenty of fish in the sea.

“No need,” Isaac shook his head, dismissing the idea.

Joie was determined to stick close, and he figured it was better to keep an eye on her than to cast her out.

“The blacklist is in effect. Joie won’t be showing her face in public for a while.”

“Good.”

“Keep an extra eye on Grace, though. We can’t let Manuel seize an opportunity.”

Isaac was concerned that Manuel might target Grace.

“Understood.”

After wrapping up the business discussion, Isaac, unusually intrigued, inquired, “How are things going with your family?”

Since Nathan and Kari had split, Mila was hell-bent on pairing Megan with Nathan.

Nathan clearly didn’t want to delve into it, pressing a hand to his forehead, “Mr. Salter, as you know, I’m focused on work right now.” © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

Kari was avoiding him like the plague, and he couldn’t even secure a meeting, let alone a conversation.

Isaac rarely meddled in his subordinates’ personal lives, but Nathan had been with him for many years. Isaac viewed him more like a younger brother, prompting him to share a few additional thoughts.

“Kari may look delicate, but she’s stubborn at heart. She won’t look back after this.”

And it was true; Kari was keeping her distance. The death of her father wasn’t something easily forgotten.

Nathan knew this all too well. “Mr. Salter, what do you think I should do?”

He didn’t want to let go.

“If you don’t want to part ways, you’ll need to make amends with her and her mother.”

Isaac doubted Nathan could offer the kind of reparation needed; money wasn’t what Kari wanted.

And certainly, Nathan couldn’t send his own father to prison.

Nathan tightened his lips. After a pause, he said, “Mr. Salter, I should step out.’

After Nathan left, Isaac wrapped up his work and left the office.

As he approached the parking lot, he spotted Joie waiting by his car.

“Bro Isaac.” Joie’s eyes were rimmed with red, likely from crying.

Isaac opened his car door. “What’s up?”

“Bro Isaac, Ms. Dustin doesn’t like me. Are you going to send me away?”

“No.”

Joie exhaled in relief, fearing Brittany’s influence. She added, “Bro Isaac, I’ll do better at work from now on.”

Isaac got into his car, preparing to close the door.

With quick reflexes, Joie grabbed onto the door. “Bro Isaac, I didn’t drive today. Could you give me a lift home?”

Isaac’s icy gaze fell upon her. Startled, Joie released her grip.

“I’m sorry, I…

“Go home and rest.”

With that, Isaac drove off.

Joie stood in the parking lot for a long while before she reluctantly hailed a cab.

Brittany, meanwhile, hadn’t taken the incident to heart, instead throwing herself even more into her work.
